Lol, I also hate my settlers. Like, all needs met and I only get 80%. Added 4 shops and now it's... 83%.

Chazzfizzle

That's because any happiness buffs you add to the settlement are divided amongst the total number of settlers. The more settlers you have, the more happiness buffs you need. If you do the one settler method, with all basic needs met(80%), the 20 added happiness from a single level 2 bar would be divided by that one settler, making the total happiness 100%.

SethTheWarrior

ALSO, robots can only have a happiness of 50. get rid of them or they will drag down your average

Lagneaux

You can use that to your advantage btw. Have a settlement with a single robot, no people, and farm cats and dogs to stay there. You will hit 100% happy in no time.

stvhght

That’s the method I’m currently going for. Sending every other CC dog to Red Rocket. When I finally get around to getting robots, I’ll place one there as well.

Joshwoagh

Bring all robots to a farm settlement, like graygarden, and then every settlement should then be connected to that one farm and you shouldn’t need food and water ever again

jljboucher

I feel that robots, like the Mr Handies at Graygarden, shouldn’t need happiness or beds!

Andreskiller

Got this ages ago, I put a lot of shops in Sanctuary, my most populated settlement, and then started putting decorations too till it suddenly dropped

Wassuuupmydudess

When the game first came Out I remember it being much easier to get that happiness score

Chazzfizzle

I mean not really, it's actually one of the easiest to get if you do it a specific way. https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/nmtptz/benevolent_leader_with_1_settler_super_simple/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

KansasCCW

I think the easiest one is the "run the bases" achievement in diamond city. A guard literally tells you to do it. Even then, I didn't do it until after I watched a video on "most rare achievements".

sol_tyrannis

Same here. Watched a video on 'Hardest Fallout Achievements' and I saw 'Run The Bases' come up, which has inspired me to grind the remaining achievements.

FalloutFan05

When I realize it was an achievement I did a no mod run just to snag a couple of shipments including that one

brieflifetime

Start with an empty settlement with a population of zero. Connect it via supply line to another settlement so it has food and water already there. Build a bar. If you have the DLCs you can also build other happy increases like the workout equipment or catch some cats and dogs. Put a bed under a roof. Turn on the settlement beacon. Achievement!

pr0zach

I’m sorry. Catching *cats and dogs*??? How do you even do that?

zakballer2

You have to have the wasteland workshop DLC (the arena building one) under cages there should be one for cats and one for dogs I believe, connect them to power, wait, profit

pr0zach

Yeah I’ve had all the DLC since they dropped, but I just haven’t found the time to mess with the arena or ball track stuff yet. I may have used a few pieces here and there for a custom settlement building design, but never for the intended purpose.

zakballer2

I barely used it either, only piece of that dlc I use is the cat cage lmao, only time I actually collect soft shell mirelurk meat, I don’t even think I’ve opened the ball track stuff either lol

Snail_jousting

There is a ball track support piece that looks like 2 posts together. I use it as support pieces so much stuff doesn't look like it's floating.

slice_of_pi

Put up cages & connect them to power. Once one is caught, repeat.

pr0zach

I really need to explore the DLC construction content more apparently.

slice_of_pi

I particularly like having guard Deathclaws. Settlement attacks by raiders just aren't the same.

eddmario

I just did it with a small farm, a couple merchants, a fucking Albino Deathclaw, and the arcade machines from the CC.

TheIAP88

Just get a bunch of dogs and gym equipment.

_SomeRedditUser

As someone who has all the achievements, I can confirm. Although it's easy with only 1 settler, plenty of food, water, defenses and things that make him happy, you just need to be patient. Also, I did it at County Crossing. One of the settlers died so I took advantage of that. R.I.P. random settler, may the force be with you.

toxicbooster

It has to be max size settlement

PitterPatterGetAtEr_

Max size is based on object number not people number

Random-Explosion-ect

Just take like 2 settlers at a place like egret, give them a shop, plenty of beds, defense, food and water, and you should be all good

toxicbooster

It has to be a max size settlement

FrostyFelassan

No it doesn't

toxicbooster

The achievement literally says in a large settlement. You're wrong

FrostyFelassan

From the [wiki](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Benevolent_Leader): >"The achievement can be unlocked with any number of settlers in any settlement."

Chazzfizzle

No, the achievement description is wrong. Size is entirely irrelevant

mediumvillain

"Large" doesnt mean population it refers to the settlement size limit but regardless of whatever was intended it is completely unconnected to actually getting the achievement

MandyDav12

Imagine being so confident about being wrong

RedComet313

People are over complicating this. There’s plants you can place down to give happiness, maybe rugs too?

[deleted]

Yep. I place plants and rugs at every settlement. Plus one gym equipment per settler. So there's no line of 15 settlers for two weight machines lol. Add animals and I reach 100% without even adding stores.

Lagneaux

1. Empty red rocket 2. Put 1 robot 3. Farm cats & dogs for the location 4. Hit 100% happy within a few days

seethingsourofpizza

Friggin big facts

theresfireinhereyes

I got the achievement on spectacle island with like 26 friggin settlers. I was so happy!... *Then I realized I got the achievement on my HUSBAND'S xbone account instead of mine* :']

kogmawesome

I accidentally got that on my very first playthru... how are you struggling to get it?

astrolabe0413

Okay I got a hack for this. Go to red rocket. Build defense up to about 60-80. Build 6 or 7 beds indoors. Plant 6 mutfruit. Build 5 tier 3 surgery station clinics. Build 3 water pumps. One person for food and five for clinics. When you see happiness go up sleep for 48 hrs. Then get up and wait for it to go up again. Rinse and repeat. You don’t need to do the crate thing like people say.

astrolabe0413

But if you wanna be really sure it’ll work build wooden crates until the settlement size bar is yellow. Don’t leave the red rocket station when doing this. You’ll get the achievement in a few real life hours.

CaptainJZH

Well now you're never getting it with that language

blarghhboy

Does playing the game with mods turn off achievements?

Financial-Elevator36

Yep

Tianoccio

There’s a mod that stops them from being disabled.

blarghhboy

Ooh, good to know. I'll have to check that out.

OkLuck1317

Yes.

blarghhboy

Ah well. I'd definitely rather play with mods -- makes the game playable.

Financial-Elevator36

Somehow mine bugged or something and Old Longfellow’s Cabin ended up at 100% when there was like 1 food 3 water and 2 defense or something like that. I wasn’t even on Far Harbor at the time lol. No complaints from me though, makes my life easier.

Car_Man1

If you have dlc you can just spawn lots of cats or dogs That’s what I did i built the essentials like shops and stuff then I just caught like 50 cats and the happiness went to 100

BodaciousBadongadonk

> like 50 cats Found Hawthorne's account

Sea_Bass8868

I got it unintentionally on a run where I attempted to build "animal sanctuary settlements" where I tried to keep lots of animals in each settlement. Red Rocket was my dog settlement, and I had lots and lots of dogs when I eventually got bored, gave up on the idea, and built a recruitment beacon. Those 2 settlers somehow counted as a large settlement and got 100% happiness from the dogs. Boom, accident. Still need the bobbleheads perk tho

RashBeef576929

If you have the vault tec dlc I would recommend to use that settlement as the one for the achievement. In the quest line you can make choices to make the settlers happier which can make getting the achievement easier.

Wild234

After you complete the questline you can build those items in any settlement. Most of my settlements get a weight bench and a couple of exercise bikes built in them :)

jaydaymayday

i did it with 18 pop, one of each workout station, one barber, and one tier 3 clinic and a tier 3 bar, and i think a third store too IF it affected happiness, i dont remember, and obv all needs met and all beds assigned, i didnt use any decorations and this was before i ever met gene for a dog or found out i could get cats or dogs in cages, i just waited days until it slowly ticked up but it went up eventually

RxTxKx

Trying to 100% rn, im stuck at the Nuka Cola + All Sugared Up thing in Nuka World, and missions like Brotherhood Of Steel + Institute stuff I didnt complete because I sided with the Railroad and Minute Men

Tianoccio

300 comfy pillows and make everyone a hair dresser.

Ryebread2203

Legit just go to a settlement with only a few settlers and make sure they have all the basic needs. Then just place as many workout benches from the vault tech dlc that you can and play the game for a bit. My sanctuary went from like 30% happiness to 100% within 30 minutes.

livelifeless

When I got mine it was when it was bugged where the beds disappeared if you weren’t at the town so it was a lot being afk and sleeping at the settlement

GBendu

Strangely it was one of the easiest achievements I got wasn’t even in the settlement when I got it

NotACyclopsHonest

I got that achievement the same way I got into the one and only relationship I've ever had: I stopped trying and it happened out of nowhere. Unlike the relationship, however, it actually left me feeling like I'd done something.

MSDakaRocker

Just an observation, but if I recall having robots lowered my % when I was trying?

superhotdogzz

After working all those stuff and had my bed get taken by some random settlers? I’m now homeless and I don’t give a shit to settlement anymore.

Midevi01

Another easy way to this achievement is via the nuka world dlc. Get a raider settlement setup make booze stations and assign the raiders to them then make a ton of the chem dispensers. It'll pop on its own. Bonus, get the chems from the dispensor machines and sell/use them as alternate currency.

CheeseusMaximus

Its definitely the worst one to get!

beanie_0

Build a settlement on spectacle island, one bar, two beds, an automatic water purifier, a massive generator and a shit tonne of defences. Assign only one settler to the settlement then assign that settler to the bar. Link them to only one settlement and make sure that settlement grows a lot of food to keep you topped up. Stay on the island until you get the achievement and be prepared for a long wait.

LordJobe

If you’re willing to use mods, Sim Settlements 2 makes it easy to get to 100% Happiness.

T00thl3ss22

I have just given up on that achievement. Honestly I can’t get above 80.

Springaling76

I made a raider drug lab and had almost all the workers on the booze stands

SnooDucks446

Was that like the 100% happy one? I think I got it by accident XD

mmmmmburgerllllll

same way except with docile :( (I HAVE 13 DEATHCLAWS TODD!)

dropcon37

Trust me I know how you feel, it was just as hard in vr

[deleted]

Just get a shitload of cats.

Mindless_Rush5002

All my settlements get several slot machines (Vault-Tec Workshop), and shortly afterward get to 100% happiness. I don't know if you have to select the "Lost Revenue" option when building the prototype, but I always do. I also build a bunch of Pick-Me-Up Stations (Nuka World DLC) at all my Raider outposts. This will quickly get those settlements up to 100% happiness. They also let me farm ridiculously high amounts of base chems that I can use to make higher level chems.

SpookShook

I got mine via DLC. the only settlements I've gotten 99 and 100 on were from far harbor. for some reason, those settlements get happier and easier. I don't remember if I put a lot of shops down, it was just a lot of defense and food

isaacmarionauthor

“The beatings will continue until morale improves.”

Sawh22

It took me 3 hours just to get this stupid achievement

BiandReady2Die_

i placed like 30 arcades and a chair and 11 hours later i had it

Soldierhero1

I absolutely congested my entire settlement with the weights from vault 88 dlc for the happiness. I must've had 34 beefy mf's by the time it popped. wished i had a picture. weights everywhere. roof's, water, on firepits you name it.

BluejayImmediate1262

lol!

RockGuy00

LOL. I just got this achievement yesterday. The happiness calculation can be a little confusing at first. I just kept adding bonuses with stores, dog, etc. and gradually reducing the number of settlers until it finally hit that sweet spot. Also, dramatically overpowering your defenses helps with that up and down fluctuation in happiness.
