I know you already have it, but for anyone who doesn’t a good way is to use the grab to pick up a basket ball, line it up with the hoop game, and just crouch and uncrouch over and over while still holding the ball. Each time you crouch it counts as a basket.
I did it at the shooting range with the Spray n pray submachine gun with explosive ammunition. I bought the weapon from Cricket just outside of Vault 81 and wait 1 hour or more then she will appear and you can buy the weapon for about 1800 caps
did you do the settlement glitch, if you build the hoop shoot in your settlement if you do it right you can stack multiple games on top of eachother and then just pull the ball in and out, only took me like 1 hourish
Max settlement is based on size. Pick a small settlement you don't like and put one settler there near the build limit. Have him run a bar, have food and water from supply lines, and a backup supply in the workbench in case it fails as it occasionally does. If you have Vault Tec DLC get all the highest happiness innovations and place them there. Send any dogs you get from merchants to that settlement.
Occasionally fast travel back to make sure it's still updating, but otherwise forget about it in between dog merchants appearing. It's best to set up in the mid game and just continue on in your journey.
The achievement description is actually misleading.
The [Wiki page](https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Benevolent_Leader) for Benevolent Leader says this:
"The size of the settlement refers to the number of structures in the settlement, not the number of settlers. However, in spite of the description, the size of the settlement does not have to be large (i.e. yellow/orange color)."
Here's u/skk50 explaining how the one-settler method for getting the achievement actually works, with barely anything built.

Here's a video showing how it works

First of all: "Large settlement" is a lie. A settlement with one settler will count all the same.
Second: There are a few items that increase happiness without requiring a settler to man them. Weight benches and pommel horses from the Vault Tech Workshop DLC and Pick-me-up stations from the Nuka World DLC come to my mind immediately. Just spamming a bunch of them will boost happiness to 100 very fast.
Is there a way to see what my locked achievements are in steam? I’ve been trying to compare what I have already unlocked against an external list but it’s hard for me to keep track of
Your best bet is to go to this page and take a screenshot of each DLC and cross out the achievements you already have and keep going bit by bit.

Nuka-World has the worst achievements, its the only one I dont have them all for. Half of them require you to do an evil/raider playthrough and/or piss off the Minutemen & disrupt your entire settlement network, which, ok, fine, it's a quest path and content but is possibly not worth doing at all on your save. Then several of them are just grinding absurd numbers of things, and one of them involves collectibles which can very easily become irretrievable (which at least one did on my first playthrough).
Nice job. Currently working on it as well. I got the platinum trophy on Playstation a while back but got a PC a few months ago. How long did your "benevolent leader" take?
Glückwunsch!
Which was the most difficult one?
That one were you need to make 100'000 nuka cade tikets

Well that’s definitely way more satisfying then my way lol
But I think it's a lot slower and it's probably nothing but a chore either way.
Just got them all, too! This was by far the most annoying.
Im with you man.
Congratulations to you too!
Thank you! It was a slog.
Aeturnus was my best friend for that one
Aeturnus is my best friend in any combat situation.
It wasn't that difficult to do your mom.
it wasn't the hardest, you're right, but keeping up the motivation for it pushed me to the limit

you learned german? good for you!
How did you get max happiness in a large settlement????? I can’t seem to get that one

It does not need to be anywhere close to the build limit. Size is irrelevant in this case
Size is irrelevant in the case of a trophy for large settlements? Yeah sure

I did it, an i know you can do it to i believe in you :)
I believe in you too!
Proud of you!
Respekt! Sehr nice :D
Sehr nett Bruder!
Congratulations! Welcome to the club!
Nearly done with this one. So boring. So much worse than New Vegas. Saddens me tbh.
There it is!
Congrats! This just reminded me I still am just missing one achievement for that game and have just never done it lol

Nice!
Currently in the early stages of trying to learn German and those words frighten me
Lol. I don't have a single achievement. Can't play without my mods. My hats off to you OP. I couldn't do it.

I dont know to be honest
Roughly 4 hours for me
