I did the Mother Lode last night.
After about 20 minutes I got frustrated because I could see all the parts and pieces I needed to do, but couldn't _start_ the thing.
Turned out I missed the ground floor data entry. Once I had that, off we went super quick.
Sometimes the things just don't click together, and it feels very frustrating.
Yeah whats going on in the DMV? I canāt get that to start beyond getting a number. Also Senator Blackwellās computer canāt be accessed by anyone but the quest holder, which is me soā¦.
His computer is locked. If your doing the mission, A destination point should pop up in the basement where you can unlock Blackwell terminal. The mission is part of the free states abbys bunker missions
I found the security terminal and unlocked his terminal, but I donāt know what the free states or Abbyās bunker is yet so I guess thatās what Iām missing.
Vault 51 is a good example of that. They took the nuclear winter vault and made a whole unmarked side quest in it. You learn what happened based off of the holotapes scattered around and eventually kill enough people to get the correct key cards and slowly progress through the vault. Very fun "quest"
lol name a more iconic duo than Bethesda and having disappointing loot behind a master lock.
I say this with love but I rarely even bother with locks in Skyrim any more.
I unlock everything my level 23 skills let me and continue to be deeply disappointed. Starfield was the same so I assume this is a design choice. Something about it being the journey not the destination. The joy comes from satisfying your OCD for 5 seconds before you see a wrench and a roll of duct tape.
Is there ever anything really valuable or worth much effort when unlocking doors and safes? I gave up putting effort in around lvl 50 because I never got anything really worthwhile. (But I have infiltrator, so there's that.)
This was the "content" we got on release before NPC's. There are a ton of low reward wild goose chases in the game. But having said all that, sometimes there really is something interesting behind that locked door
ETA not that specific door š¤
Fallout games have enough bugs that sometimes I don't know if the game is broken of if I am blind and I missed something obvious.
After wasting an hour on a quest not being able to finish it I Google it only to find it was a known bug and to bypass it just serve hop until it works.Ā Now I have a rule if I spend more than 10 minutes stuck in a game break out Google.Ā
I did this just today.
Had to clear out a mutant camp for a quest, easy. Iāll just hop over to west tech. Hmm. That didnāt count, well huntersville is right here. Crap, that didnāt work either. *googles* ohhhh itās a specific one waaaaay on the north east of the map that wasnāt highlighted on the map because of a bug.
maybe up that to 30 minutes, maybe you end up in a puzzle game and you coulda had a more rewarding solve if you spend just a little bit longer on it before having it solved for you
I usually Google the location and code for doors in that area. I never remember the code for the mine the Cultists are in in the Cranberry Bog but had to open the door to get the ants inside just for that Buzzy disease achievement
that's fo76s biggest problem the loot is bad. no excitement of finding a big payday because all the cool items are locked behind plan grinds and you only get a hand full of caps at a time.
The part that will really tick you off, if you had walked around the back of the house you could have just hopped over the ruined wall.
I'm determined, not smart
Endurance 15, perception 1
Nah, Perception must be higher than 1 for this level of self-awareness. š
Intelligent 1
This is an incredible response.
Holy hell, have I been feeling this lately!
It aināt much, but itās honest work
Proceeds to walk into the door frame and not through the door.
I'm here for this level of self awareness š
If you're gonna be dumb, ya gotta be tough!
lol
I call that "Brute strength and ignorance". The opposite of finesse
We should be friends
Lolololololololololololā¦ā¦Iām dying right now.
I respect that
Lmao šš»
You must be a Melee build with them brain stats š¤£ /s lol
[OP is Pedro Pascal](https://youtu.be/-98T6KVWzF0?si=vfiRjFLFX_55MG7V)
both of these guys must've had so much fun filming this... pretending (acting) to do stuff like this brings out our inner child
Beat me to it! Ouch...
I would have just googled it if I couldn't find it.
ššš¤£
So many South Park in Afghanistan moments in this game. š¤£

Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to spoil anything for you. I think those missions are meant to be started after the Rose from Top of the World missions.
No worries. I do it to myself. I just start poking around without an active quest and get into trouble.

There is a ton of environmental story telling in 76 from back when it had 0 living npcs and that's honestly one of my favorite things about the game.

You get the whole code if you find all the notes.

At least in this game you have a chance at a plan a lot of times.
Give Starfield a go. You'll find Master locked chests that are literally empty.
Woof ...

Itās worth checking, you may eventually get a very low roll on a rare plan. RNG is your worst nightmare sometimes.
As someone that lives near a casino, maybe this is a good thing overall?
You should read the notes around that area. Pretty cool little lore
Agree. doing the keypad properly tells a story with the neighbour that you wouldn't get otherwise
I recently did a main quest that involves a stroke-inducing bureaucratic runaround. Dev trolling level 1000.
The DMV Quest? That was one of the better examples of satire in any game I've played.
I laughed so much doing this quest. It was perfect.
Omg. That was the most frustrating in game experience that was also so true to real life.
Is there ever anything really valuable or worth much effort when unlocking doors and safes? I gave up putting effort in around lvl 50 because I never got anything really worthwhile. (But I have infiltrator, so there's that.)
Plans mostly, a lot of locked safes, chest etc can spawn them.
Was that the one Unsolved mystery with the guy and his dog?
Not unsolved check out the freakshow.
I followed the story to its end years ago but yesterday Davenport sent me to take a picture of the freakshow and i was sadly reminded.Ā
Haven't heard of this, what is it?
I just jumped over the wall
Wait until this guy hears about Photomode clippingā¦
I'm sorry what? How can I clip my good man I'll break into vault 79 before I even visit the wayward lol
You cant break/glitch into vault 79. Trust me
That's just to discourage you from finding the shielded Enclave under armor plan in the next key pad locked room

The rest of the pass code was on the terminal inside the stacked trailers lmao
Man I would just of googled it.Ā Ā
For real. If youāve already decided to brute force it just google that shit.

So much of this games story is little notes. Itās wonderful
I would have tried 76 & 69 then walked away
Could have just done the camera glitch to get through the locked door....
Camera glitch?
There's a way to glitch through locked doors. YouTube has tutorials. We don't speak of it though, in fear that it might get patched.
The game will scam you any way possible šš itās cooked
I usually Google the location and code for doors in that area. I never remember the code for the mine the Cultists are in in the Cranberry Bog but had to open the door to get the ants inside just for that Buzzy disease achievement
Nah dev trolls my build directly by nerfing the ninja warrior perk lol wnt from 3x damage to just an additional 90% which is so buns tbh

My cold shoulder would like a word.
Would have been cool to find a fully upgraded quad explosive railway or handmade.
