There was previously a glitch that allowed the trading of untradeable weapons and armor. It’s since been patched to my knowledge. But it involved two people using the scrip machine at the same time. So I doubt that it’s gonna happen.
Whitespring Mall's is a great home base for this stuff. It's got a workshop with all workbenches, scrapbox, and stash box. It's got a legendary exchange, a gold press machine, and it even has a vendor. And it's all packed in one room.
The new Nuka Tour area is nice but it's a bit crowded and it's also missing a gold press machine (unless I'm blind and just missing it).
Management sure.
Coding? This was a small studio making a mobile game, bought up by Bethesda, renamed to Bethesda Austin, having their project canned, given a single player engine they never worked with before and told to make a online game with it. To be honest, the coding can be brilliant, but that wont help when you are working in unknown territory with an engine that was never supposed to do anything even close to this. The fact that we have the stuff we have all points to the coding being amazing most likely. But they are trapped within the limits of the engine they were handed.
I always fast travel to an empty train station after an event rather than use the closest one. Top of the World usually ends up being free. Too many players vying for the closest scrip machine.
With a combination of Bufftats, Carry Weight Booster, and putting Power Armor pieces on PA frames, I can usually get underweight enough to fast travel. It's why I have something like 15 PA frames in my stash box.
Respect to those who actually form a line like adults (seen this countless times) or who wait sitting on the patio tables. Thank you all, you fine wastelanders.
I do always try to stand in a line respectfully behind the person who is using the machine, but usually some other person just runs up, cuts the line
But you are correct, when other normal players come and all join the line and wait patiently, its a nice community feeling
:)
If there is a line, just go somewhere else. The scrip machines are all over the map.
If someone shoots you, take off all your clothes and take twice as long.
I was trying to use the one at NWOT yesterday. There was a lvl 31 player there at it, so I waited. And, I waited. And, continued to wait. Eventually, other players showed up, guy still standing there at the machine. So, I realized that there must be some problem, and I put caution flares all around him and walked up to Lewisberg Station.
Don't go AFK at vendors and legendary exchange machines it's annoying.
Was he a real player ? Often I have been at the Whitespring and there have been "ghost players" at the vendor or scrip machine. They don't show up on the map.
Sorry I don't think it will happen. Scrip machines were the cause of some duping early on. And transferring items that shouldn't be transferred. Would be nice though xD
I agree that players should be more polite, but if you're waiting more than five minutes just FT to another legendary scrip machine. If you can't because you're over-encumbered, just hop servers. It sucks, but it's better than letting another player ruin your experience.
Some dude was hitting someone at the scrip machine the day before yesterday. I just hit him and made him stop 😂
He didn't even have to be impatient cause the lady got off the machine right after I hit him 😂
If someone hassles you while you are using the scrip machine, make a sandwich and a cup of tea maybe smoke a cigarette. If you have a mic play some Metallica for them while they wait.
Fun story time!
I was at MJ the day before Nuka world came out, being ultra frustrated that someone used a hacked gun to solo clear the whole event while leaving pittances for the rest of us. Even after area looting, I barely got 50 pieces of innards in total, which should tell you how the event went, since I was in a party of 4 and all 4 of us did our best to tag.
Anyway, because I only had 50 pieces of innards and some other scrap, I wasn't overweight (which in and of itself is a rarity, especially after MJ), and FT to the train station to sell my loot. By a stroke of sheer dumb luck, as soon as I traded with the vender, my clumsy ass knocked over the last bit of water in my cup and got my desk wet, so I ran to grab a towel to clean up my mess. It took me maybe 2 or 3 minutes to dry off my station, tops.
As soon as I came back, I heard something through my headset, so I put it on and caught the end of someone stringing together a load of racial slurs. I cancelled out of the trade just in time to see that very same hacker finish cursing me for hoarding the trader and disappear in front of me.
I assume they DC'ed to server hop because they were overweight from all the innards they carried.
If I don't have anything else to sell I'd sell innards to get the caps from venders. If MJ is one of the last events of the day and I've already cleaned out the caps, I don't even bother looting unless I see a 3 star.
On the one hand this sounds like a good idea, and there's no reason it couldn't be implemented. On the other, I'm uncomfortable with the idea of rewarding or accommodating impatient, immature brats. Someone gets impatient with me, especially right after I start using one, that is less a signal for me to hurry up as it is to go get a drink or sit on the can.
It just makes me laugh when 5 seconds after I access a machine, people start walking in and out of my FoV, like I'll just realize, "oh, you're right, your time is far more valuable. I apologize for my outburst."
I never thought about going AFK, but I totally would if I knew that *every* person waiting was acting like a petulant child. Since I know that most are fine upstanding wastelanders, I'll just carry on and move along when I'm done.
I agree. I assume its because it would show all of the legendaries anyone using it sold potentially letting other players buy it with scrip. I dont know why that would be an issue, I'm just guessing as to why.
There was a bug once upon a time, where you could see what was *exchanged* at the machines, as well as buy items directly from the Purveyor. I wish that wasn't a bug and you could just see things that were traded-in, sort of a lie to call it an 'exchange' if shit is just disappearing.
I never got why people took so long to use the scrip machine.
Even when I have 5-10 legendary weapons, I scrip the large ones that give me the most scrip. 2-3 stars go first. Then whatever 1 stars I can use. Takes me about 10 seconds or so. I’ve patiently waited a few times. And they just stand there. A good 30-40 seconds go by. I try to kill time and I’ll go and sell stuff to the vendors or check my inventory. They are still there just standing.
I don’t shoot at them, I shoot near them. So they can hear me. Usually they will get scared and turn around. So I’ll use the machine then.
I don't get it haha, I'm usually in and out of the scrip machine in under 30 seconds. Some people need minutes on end for some reason...
I just go to a different fast travel one 😂🤣🤣
This is probably one reason why the cooldown for scrip is unique to the player and not the same time every day for everyone. Probably that, as well as server lag.. don’t want a ton of scrip occurring all at the same time, I’d assume.
The reason peops are impatient is because of al the afk players.
Advice to complain more on the afk's theb impatient peops.
But i wouldn't be against it altoigh i'm not sure if it's possinle with the codes they got.
I'm patient, if someone is at the scrip machine I'll wait a bit, but seriously what's taking some people over a minute straight to trade in their junk legendaries?
I usually just travel to another train station and use a different machine
I will politely slug the offender with the butt of my weapon till he either release the vendor or get him pushed off from it. After a couple minutes are passed waiting that is.
There have been glitches and exploits from when the scrip machine was used by multiple people, I doubt they bring it back. Why should multiple people get to use it at once? Vendor bots, NPCs, and bullion machines do not work that way, so why should scrip machines? There are plenty of these machines all over the map. Just go somewhere else.
There...is another scrip machine a very short walk away at Lewisburg station. A lot of players forget about that one. So I use it instead. I have no problems. No crowd to hassle me. Just bliss. 😁
There was previously a glitch that allowed the trading of untradeable weapons and armor. It’s since been patched to my knowledge. But it involved two people using the scrip machine at the same time. So I doubt that it’s gonna happen.
That an glitched unlimited scrip, the list goes on an on. Blame exploiters for most inconveniences. Just hit another train station.
Whitespring Mall and the Rusty Pick not only have Scrip Machines, but are also free to FT to.

I can only guess that response wasn't for me?
Not exclusively.
They're just adding to the conversation by suggesting another place to fast travel to
I get it now, sorry.
Helpful no doubt, just zero relation to my comment and exploits. Still confused.
You said, "just hit another train station." They offered even better more convenient options to help bolster your point. Totally related.
That would make sense. I'm still not use to free rides and don't think like that. Completely my old ass fault. I get it now. :)
No i blame shitty coding and shitty management
Management sure. Coding? Exactly. There's one just a short sprint away
I just run up the hill to Lewisburg RR station which is like...*right there*
This, or sell off crap to the NPCs, scrap, repair, stash, drop useless shit, go play an arcade game. There are alternatives
Yeah, but it's *MY* scrip and I want it *NOW*!! 🎵🎶Call J.G. Wentworth! 877-SCRIP-NOW🎶🎵
Yeah, I do the same. I don’t get the problem.
This is what I do. I only go to the scrip machine in Nuka World to drop my extra scrip.
There are multiple script machines across the wasteland. Fast travel to another.
I always fast travel to an empty train station after an event rather than use the closest one. Top of the World usually ends up being free. Too many players vying for the closest scrip machine. Whitespring mall is a free fast travel with a scrip machine
Shhh
Respect to those who actually form a line like adults (seen this countless times) or who wait sitting on the patio tables. Thank you all, you fine wastelanders.

Happens to me also time to time then it seems they get the message like oh hey people here have manners! And couldn’t agree anymore!
If there is a line, just go somewhere else. The scrip machines are all over the map. If someone shoots you, take off all your clothes and take twice as long.
Definitely do this advice. So by the time you go in your pipboy to do all that, other people can use it lol

He was real enough to lock down the scrip machine.
If only there was something amusing to do nearby. Maybe something else to shoot at. I dunno, some sort of game or something?
*Theatrically gestures and dramatically leans against the Nuka-Cade tent* Just gotta be *some*thing....
Orrrrrr the rude people can go shag themselves.
Some dude was hitting someone at the scrip machine the day before yesterday. I just hit him and made him stop 😂 He didn't even have to be impatient cause the lady got off the machine right after I hit him 😂
I just use Sutton station, as my tent is between there & the Overseer's house.
Or you could, ya know, ignore them.
If someone hassles you while you are using the scrip machine, make a sandwich and a cup of tea maybe smoke a cigarette. If you have a mic play some Metallica for them while they wait.

Is there a reason to carry innards ? I just dump them.
If I don't have anything else to sell I'd sell innards to get the caps from venders. If MJ is one of the last events of the day and I've already cleaned out the caps, I don't even bother looting unless I see a 3 star.
Usually hit the toilet with a hot mic right after making a sandwich, extra crunchy, and chewed loudly.
I'll just pretend to hassle someone, so they waste time playing music and making tea when I hop to my private server and trade my scrip. Take that :P
It's all good fun 🙃
:P
Do people still smoke in this millennium?? I thought that was just boomer shit only done by old people and the depressed.
Yes real men still smoke. I can't afford it now but I love to release CO2 and particulates into the atmosphere and see the reaction of simps.
No one is going to be simping for you with that car exhaust of a voice
I will cough into their tofu salad.
Even better, find a Muzak version of Metallica 🤣🤣

items given to the scrip machine though just vanish into the ethosphere though, the machine doesn't have an "inventory"
You used to be able to buy stuff other people sold to it if you opened it right after they leave the machine.
Sure because only 1 person can use it at a time. If multiple people could is what I was mentioning.
There was a bug once upon a time, where you could see what was *exchanged* at the machines, as well as buy items directly from the Purveyor. I wish that wasn't a bug and you could just see things that were traded-in, sort of a lie to call it an 'exchange' if shit is just disappearing.
It does until you leave it
this seems like it would fall under the "if they could, they would" category

this game doesn't have drama?
The reason peops are impatient is because of al the afk players. Advice to complain more on the afk's theb impatient peops. But i wouldn't be against it altoigh i'm not sure if it's possinle with the codes they got.
They should just let you have one in your camp.
People hassling me at a vendor? I’ll go afk and they can rage.
I just go afk when this happens. Go make a brew and have a smoke.
I'm patient, if someone is at the scrip machine I'll wait a bit, but seriously what's taking some people over a minute straight to trade in their junk legendaries? I usually just travel to another train station and use a different machine
If someone shoots at me while I’m getting my scrip they are getting melted.
I will politely slug the offender with the butt of my weapon till he either release the vendor or get him pushed off from it. After a couple minutes are passed waiting that is.
Or, just go use the on at the whitespring or any of the stations.
