Saw them back in 2019 a month after Dogrel was released and when they played Big I was hooked, so that's always my suggestion for a good place to start. That it's the first track on their first album helps because you can just continue through their discography, which is still pretty short so it's not a huge time investment.
If you forced me to choose one track from each album for a new fan, it'd be **Big**, **A Hero's Death** and **I Love You** (all are pretty safe bets for songs that will be on current setlists.)
**How Cold Love Is**, **I Don't Belong** and **Roy's Tune** are personal faves that are not likely to be on current setlists. Hope that helps some!
Yessss! Big parts of the song are from a TS Eliot poem btw! I love the intro most with the screamed “ahhhh” and the shouted “none can pull the passion loose from youth ungrateful hands”. That’s a flawless line. Props to Grian. Wish I had written that haha
The song is part of my fontaines origin story. Had been listening to debut intently in aug ‘19, saw them at small club in sept ‘19, was stoned as hell and alone and not feeling connected and then Too Real happened and the sliding guitar and bass instantly grabbed me and never let go. Love the boys fully ever since and I’m an old and don’t fanboy easily.
The only songs I skip are couple across the way and oh what a spring. Not because they’re bad, I just don’t care to have the high energy dip at those particular moments in the albums.
[Big Shot](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0n34O9JJlN8) is my fave...reckon it captures their characyer/sound in the best light.
Or Television screens for an older track
Too Real and Roman Holiday. Sha Sha Sha, Liberty Belle are right behind.
also shoutout to Hurricane Laughter
edit: Favourite hits hard for me because lyrically i relate to that song more than any song ever lol
From each album my top 5 are
Dogrel: Roy’s tunes, television screens, DCS, BITBL,Big
A hero’s death: a lucid dream, a hero’s death (absolute masterpiece), i dont belong, televised mind, you said
Skinty fia: nabokov, skinty fia, jackie down the line, i love u, how cold love is

Jackie Down the Line is how I found them and its still probably my fav song from them to this day
A Lucid Dream is their consistent opening song and it is absolutely insane hearing live!!
This is facts I can’t agree more… live was insane
Nobakov for me
Nabokov goes off!!! I lose my mind every time I listen to it.
I totally vibe with Television Screens, especially as one of those songs you ride home with after a long night out, just as the sun’s coming up.
Surprised I haven’t seen A Lucid Dream mentioned.
One of the best songs ever, FDC or otherwise
