Do you eat the limes? Or just drink lime juice and tajin? Cuz unless you're eating limes, it is not a snack lol I've had it on multiple fruits and it's been great though
Genuine question: would you consider lemonade or a smoothie a snack? I’ve always considered any consumable in a small amount a snack.
Edit: sorry? It’s really too easy to offend yall.
Y’all be careful! I. Grew up eating limes and lemons. Now, at 55, my teeth have so much acid erosion I may lose them all. They have chips and cracks and are so sensitive and painful
One ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. I knew a guy who use to drink a two liter every day and ended up with a half of a stomach from it. He was very skinny too. Said he wished he had learned sooner .
I mean… it’s healthy if your meals are well rounded and nutritious. There’s no harm in cutting out processed snack foods, if that’s what’s happening here.
I think the point is a lime’s worth of juice is not a “snack” under any definition. Some sweet trolls on this post though, well done. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go lick the juice off a slice of deli meat for my evening snack.
Fun story, I had braces for like 6 years because i was born without my “i teeth” (the teeth in between front and canines) so I had a huge gap in my front teeth. My teeth are pretty straight other than that, so I only had a permanent retainer on my top two front teeth.
Que to my 17th year, I had gotten my braces off and went absolutely crazy on lemon water from Sonic. Like once a day at least. My permanent retainer broke and my orthodontist was like “this shouldn’t happen? Not sure how it did” well I went on drinking lemon water from sonic for another year and my permanent retainer broke AGAIN and I finally realized it was because of the lemon water. I didn’t get it fixed and now I have a gap again, but it’s all good cuz I kinda love it.
Moral of the story-if citric acid can dissolve the cement that holds a permanent retainer together, it can absolutely fuck teeth up
Sprite has been my fav soda my entire life and it shows. My dentist had no idea why all of my enamel was basically wrecked by the time I was 15. I’ve just recently realized it was probably the sprite.
Very much so, my mom LOVED to snack on lemons and limes and her teeth showed that, she had stubby teeth from the years of those being a favorite snack of hers. I enjoy eating lemons too, but I only eat them very rarely, maybe a couple times a year.
I LOVE peeling a lemon like an orange and eating it with a little bit of salt, but I know it’s horrible for my teeth so I also only do it every so often.
The important part is to protect your teeth from mechanical wear after exposure to the acid. Swish your mouth with water or mouth wash to remove the acid, and don’t eat anything crunchy/tough for an hour. Especially don’t brush your teeth for that hour!
(This is advice for teeth care with frequent vomiting but it should hold for lemons too)
You absolutely should not. Acid weakens teeth and brushing after you puke will just scrub the softened enamel off
Rinsing with water and/or mouthwash is best
Ooh, noted! Thank you, I’ll make sure to do that the next time I do this, my saving grace is that it’s been a while since stores near me have had any really good looking lemons
And the gut lining.. my friend was addicted to lime cordial and the doctor said it was damaging his gut lining and could have serious problems if he didn't stop. Be warned!
Just couldn't stop drinking the stuff he had to constantly have a lime cordial on the go. it's watered down a lot you wouldn't think it would be an issue and actually think it would be healthy but it wasn't
I destroyed my teeth working at Sonic as a teenager. The citrus base you'd put in slushes is basically citric acid and I'd make extra sour drinks out of it. Now I have a mouthful of crowns that took me forever to afford.
Stop! The acid will literally erode the enamel on your teeth and turn them soft and gray. No joke, I happened to a guy that I worked with. He ate 2 lemons a day and it only took 6 months.
It’s one of my favorite little snacks, usually dipped in salt. I’ve been doing this off and on for the past 15 years and didn’t have the same experience this person outlined, although I do not have them every day.
I love lemons. Honestly I'd just peel them like an orange and enjoy. My dentist quickly realized as a kid though and gave me a thorough lecture, so I just indulge a slice a couple times a year.
A dude I currently work with def has this going on because of his daily tepid lemon juice with a splash of hot tea consumption. I wish I was kidding when I say I saw him come in with a whole bag of lemons the other day.
Yea this is my high volume low cal food snack is cucumbers and tajin with a. Little lime. I like the low sodium tajin too. But just straight up LIME is wild rip to your teeth OP
That’s not a snack, that’s a flavour. If you like the way it tastes add them to some fruit with substance, veggies, or nuts. I often put lime and tajin on popcorn. And you really don’t want the acid from straight lemon juice on your teeth often.
This is not a snack, weight loss has to be sustainable, fit the snacks and foods you like within your calories, plus that much acidic juice can’t be good for your stomach. That would give me massive heartburn.
Nothing about that is fulfilling unless it's being paired with a margarita and a steak. You actually need to eat food to "lose weight". I need to ensure I eat more than 2000 calories a day to build and maintain muscle and lose fat.
Starving yourself isnt snacking.
Healthiest way to lose weight is 3 meals a day, no snacking. Big breakfast, medium lunch, smallish dinner and do some physical activity every day. Take the dog/kids/partner out for a walk, walk to buy groceries(within reason).
Switch out 50% of your current carbs for vegetables and healthy proteins and you WILL lose weight.
There is no need to punish yourself with OPs pain just to lose weight.

People are acting way too critical here, geez.
- eating this *once in awhile* isn't going to melt your teeth, you need to do it super often for that to occur
- anything is a snack if you like it
- yes, people eat citrus fruits. A lime isn't much different than a handful of sour patch kids
- if OP is using this as a filler/extra snack *instead of binging*, that would be fine. You don't know if they're getting their daily calories or not. It doesn't have to be "too restrictive".
There's a lot of "maybes" and such, but we don't have all the info to be screaming about it, and what we do have doesn't necessarily mean they're abusing anything.
Taijin AND LIMES? wowza, you are a beast. I put Taijin heavily on mangoes, on everytype of mild soft cheese, on tortillas with grilled chicken and queso
I grew up loving to do that or just hot sauce and it ruined my enamel of the front teeth. That should only be a once and awhile thing. I know it hard to resist 😭.
One of my best summers ever, was when I rented a house with a lime tree in the backyard. Limes on everything. Margaritas for every drink.
Limes are so underestimated!
As a Hispanic, this was our snack as kids...38 now. My grandma would tell me and my cousin "go throw out the trash and I'll give you a lemon with lucas" (back in the day it was lucas/look it up) lol. We'd come back and it was ready on the table.
if you don't have teeth, a liquid diet is pretty much a given /s
this looks delicious and i used to eat lemons off the tree, my teeth are doing pretty ok halfway through their hopeful lifespan... i just lost the ability to handle sour as ive aged
Tajín is very high in Sodium unless it’s the low sodium type. Either is not a good meal replacement. Limes are acidic and will wear down the enamel on your teeth.
How would you eat this? I don’t think a spoon would work it would just mash the lime when you try to scoop it maybe you could try and scoop the lime juice with the spoon or maybe it works never tried it
Tajin on popcorn is awesome too. I don’t use butter or salt. Just Tajin.
I too, eat Limes, Lemons, and Grapefruit with Tajin. It of course goes great with cantaloupe, melon and red mangos too. (Doesn’t taste right on the yellow mangoes). I also wash and eat the rinds of the citrus fruits l. Love it.
Ok so I understand you from a flavor POV - but may I suggest a watered down limeade with a tajin rim? Also green melon with some tajin sprinkled on it does the trick without the acidity of the lime.
I don't think that's a snack
I am on this new diet where I can eat as much as I want as long as it is only printer paper.
That is not book, Jenna
Book is book!
Wanting to be book is not book.

Oh god this made me laugh too hard! 😂
Jenna?
As a Mexican, that's a snack and it is delicious!
Do you eat the limes? Or just drink lime juice and tajin? Cuz unless you're eating limes, it is not a snack lol I've had it on multiple fruits and it's been great though
Nah, you just lick the Tajin off and suck up a little lemon juice each time you do.
I guess we can agree to disagree on what a snack is
Why is this not a snack?
Cuz it's not eating food. Tajin is a seasoning. It's not sustenance
How about a bowl of tajin, eaten by the spoon full?
Good point
Doritos is “sustenance”?
Genuine question: would you consider lemonade or a smoothie a snack? I’ve always considered any consumable in a small amount a snack. Edit: sorry? It’s really too easy to offend yall.
I do not consider juice a snack, no. Lemonade is juice and sugar. A smoothie is actual fruit blended together. Very big difference between the two.
Especially since there are only about 2 tablespoons of juice in a lime lol
What are you exactly eating? Oh right nothing.
na dude you have to eat everything but the peel
You cut up some cucumber, then squeeze lime on it, then sprinkle tajin. Thats a good snack
I eat limes no problem
Y’all be careful! I. Grew up eating limes and lemons. Now, at 55, my teeth have so much acid erosion I may lose them all. They have chips and cracks and are so sensitive and painful
That is me at 26.
Same! I would eat / suck on lemons like candy my whole life, and in the last three years I basically lost my front teeth. I’m 30.
Yes!!! Great advice. They also wreck fillings you’ve had on your teeth. Dentists aren’t cheap either.
Good to know, and i thought Diet Coke was bad!😬
One ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. I knew a guy who use to drink a two liter every day and ended up with a half of a stomach from it. He was very skinny too. Said he wished he had learned sooner .
The addictive things are so hard to kick. Sorry about your friend.
As another Mexican, I do eat the limes (just not the peel). It’s like a more sour orange.
Add sliced Jicama and some chamoy and it’s a full meal!
As a person with teeth, do you have any enamel left? 😂
Yep don’t do this, I know some who enjoys sucking on lemon and their teeth is screwed.
With cucumber!
Guess that's where the weight loss happens. Starving yourself but through fake snacks so it doesn't feel like not eating. *this is not healthy*
I googled it and it’s literally only 2 tablespoons of juice lol
I mean sure if you just lick limes all day as a meal replacement that’s unhealthy but there’s nothing wrong with it
That’s an eating disorder, sincerely a girl in eating disorder rehab.
isnt too much undiluted lemon/lime juice bad for the teeth.... thought i heard that somewhere.
The acid erodes the enamel
Yeah, once in a while, fine, but I'd be concerned with this being a regular 'snack'
Fun story, I had braces for like 6 years because i was born without my “i teeth” (the teeth in between front and canines) so I had a huge gap in my front teeth. Eye* teeth
But they are \*my\* teeth sooo.......
*Bone Apple Teeth
Oh interesting I didn’t know they were referred to as “eye teeth”
Hate to be that person, but eye teeth are the canines. You were referring to lateral incisors
Oh cool. Have been saying the wrong thing for years
Sprite has been my fav soda my entire life and it shows. My dentist had no idea why all of my enamel was basically wrecked by the time I was 15. I’ve just recently realized it was probably the sprite.
That’s kinda funny, my retainer broke and my tooth gap came back too, I also love mine
Not only that, but if you get lime juice on your skin and then go into sunlight for a while, it can cause chemical burns and blistering.
I feel like this should have been obvious but it wasn't and suddenly all my cavities make sense.
Very much so, my mom LOVED to snack on lemons and limes and her teeth showed that, she had stubby teeth from the years of those being a favorite snack of hers. I enjoy eating lemons too, but I only eat them very rarely, maybe a couple times a year.

So you shouldn’t brush your teeth after you throw up?
You absolutely should not. Acid weakens teeth and brushing after you puke will just scrub the softened enamel off Rinsing with water and/or mouthwash is best
Ooh, noted! Thank you, I’ll make sure to do that the next time I do this, my saving grace is that it’s been a while since stores near me have had any really good looking lemons
Yes! A bit of salt really adds a lot to the flavor! My mom liked chili powder on them too.
And the gut lining.. my friend was addicted to lime cordial and the doctor said it was damaging his gut lining and could have serious problems if he didn't stop. Be warned!
What do you mean by addicted?
Just couldn't stop drinking the stuff he had to constantly have a lime cordial on the go. it's watered down a lot you wouldn't think it would be an issue and actually think it would be healthy but it wasn't
I destroyed my teeth working at Sonic as a teenager. The citrus base you'd put in slushes is basically citric acid and I'd make extra sour drinks out of it. Now I have a mouthful of crowns that took me forever to afford.
And the salt?
for bullet proof arteries???
If you eat something that is a base afterwards, like cheese that can help reduce the effects of the acidity.
Stop! The acid will literally erode the enamel on your teeth and turn them soft and gray. No joke, I happened to a guy that I worked with. He ate 2 lemons a day and it only took 6 months.
Was he rinsing after doing that? Cause I wonder how much of a difference that makes..
Squeeze it straight in your throat, you know like deep thro…..
How the fuck are people just eating an entire lemon?
It’s one of my favorite little snacks, usually dipped in salt. I’ve been doing this off and on for the past 15 years and didn’t have the same experience this person outlined, although I do not have them every day.
I love lemons. Honestly I'd just peel them like an orange and enjoy. My dentist quickly realized as a kid though and gave me a thorough lecture, so I just indulge a slice a couple times a year.
SOFT and GRAY?
Nothing has ever made me shudder like the idea of soft gray teeth
Dentists ~~hate~~ love this one weird trick!
A dude I currently work with def has this going on because of his daily tepid lemon juice with a splash of hot tea consumption. I wish I was kidding when I say I saw him come in with a whole bag of lemons the other day.
Bet he didn’t have scurvy though
Just put taijin on cucumbers.
And squeeze some lime juice on top!
For the people searching, the real life pro tip is this one. Tastes great, low cals, actually healthy and doesn't destroy your teeth.
Yes yes and yes!!!!
Raw carrots are amazing too
Yea this is my high volume low cal food snack is cucumbers and tajin with a. Little lime. I like the low sodium tajin too. But just straight up LIME is wild rip to your teeth OP
Or watermelon!! Both are way better than this drink garnish
And jicama
It's the best
Thank you for this.
Jicima (spelling?) is a wonderful crunchy alternative too!
r/shittyrestrictionfood
Damn... I'm going to order an extra cheesy pizza for dinner after scrolling this sub.
the word ‘food’ shouldn’t even be in the sub title
I literally thought that was the sub this was posted in until I realized…
Yeah this is peak weight watchers eating disorder nonsense.
Really thought that’s where I was lmao
R.I.P. Teeth
That’s not a snack, that’s a flavour. If you like the way it tastes add them to some fruit with substance, veggies, or nuts. I often put lime and tajin on popcorn. And you really don’t want the acid from straight lemon juice on your teeth often.
Do you actually *eat* those limes? Or just suck the juice and Tajin?
Grew up eating limes and lemon with Lucas which was tajin before tajin
A snack that pairs well with tequila!
Throw in a tall mug of ice cold beer
You just… eat the lime?
Hows ur teeth buddy
Not sure about for weight loss but that shit is good on Oranges too
Watermelon and tajin is awesome. Idk if it helps me lose weight though.
Yes!

Love eating limes and lemons, human teeth don't so much
![gif](giphy|xT5LMDeQYWQaPKMIEw|downsized)
A snack is what you put the Tajin and lime on.
Rip to your enamel
Starving yourself isnt snacking. Healthiest way to lose weight is 3 meals a day, no snacking. Big breakfast, medium lunch, smallish dinner and do some physical activity every day. I'm glad I'm not the only one who eats lemons and limes as a snack.
Your poor teeth.
This looks like a mouthful of gastritis
That makes my jaw hurty-tingle just looking at it
Make a couple extra dental appointments .
Your enamel is crying
My favorite snack is when I lick the candy coating off an advil.
Wtf?? Trying to understand how anyone thinks this counts as a snack, gives me a headache.
I’d rather stay fat.
Thats more of a drink than anything else.
![gif](giphy|d27IAKEWUKv2a7MSCY)
I prefer ice on a stick.
I ate lemons / salt all my childhood as my fav snack and I still dabble to this day. Looks great
![gif](giphy|xjlC6nomocZhVXuZgM|downsized)
If you live in TX, they have Tajin flavored sorbets, those go hard
Weight loss snack? Tajin is basically salt.
Umm that’s not a diet that’s starvation. Fuck diet culture.
Try snacking on loo paper too
Do you… like yourself at all,
People are acting way too critical here, geez. - eating this *once in awhile* isn't going to melt your teeth, you need to do it super often for that to occur - anything is a snack if you like it - yes, people eat citrus fruits. Chemotherapy is my favourite snack for weight loss
Shit like this is why I'm anti diet.
Taijin AND LIMES? wowza, you are a beast. I put Taijin heavily on mangoes, on everytype of mild soft cheese, on tortillas with grilled chicken and queso
ANTI-SCORBUTIC
I grew up loving to do that or just hot sauce and it ruined my enamel of the front teeth. That should only be a once and awhile thing. I know it hard to resist 😭.
Just looking at this gave me gerd! It does look kinda yummy tho
I would stop eating this. It’s gonna ruin your esophagus.
This actually looks delicious
Pucker up buttercup

"You can sprinkle some sugar on a lemon, that's a good healthy girl snack"
RIP your teeth
Pretty damn stupid but have at it
That can't be good for your teeth.
Tajin and... Watermelon Cucumbers Orange slices Plums Grapes
Not weird at all, tajin on any citrus or melon is common, pairs perfectly
I love limes as seasoning, but this would make me literally vomit.
Dude.. use this idea.. except on pickles, throw a little chamoy on top to go with it, pure bliss! :3
One of my best summers ever, was when I rented a house with a lime tree in the backyard. Limes on everything. Margaritas for every drink. Limes are so underestimated!
This has been my snack since I was a kid lmfao I put tajin on anything even ice 😭😭🫶🏻
We squeeze limes on watermelon with tajin and it’s so good
My jaw clenched at this picture lollll
And heartburn.
And here I am scooping up chili with potato chips like a fatass who enjoys food
As a Hispanic, this was our snack as kids...38 now. My grandma would tell me and my cousin "go throw out the trash and I'll give you a lemon with lucas" (back in the day it was lucas/look it up) lol. We'd come back and it was ready on the table.
I Think I’m trying to this
I like tajin on sliced cucumbers. It's like chips!
That’s great on enamel
if you don't have teeth, a liquid diet is pretty much a given /s this looks delicious and i used to eat lemons off the tree, my teeth are doing pretty ok halfway through their hopeful lifespan... i just lost the ability to handle sour as ive aged
I ruined my teeth from eating lemons like oranges as a kid 😭
Try it on watermelon. 🍉
Goodbye teeth!
That's a staple in my house.
Yess but the heartburn tho 😭
My mouth watered just looking at this picture
Uncommanded non-consensual projectile salivation wasn’t on my bingo card today, but here we are.
Tajín is very high in Sodium unless it’s the low sodium type. Either is not a good meal replacement. Limes are acidic and will wear down the enamel on your teeth.
Honestly, tajin goes with most things…
That is making my mouth water!
Yeah cause it gives you diarrhea
How would you eat this? I don’t think a spoon would work it would just mash the lime when you try to scoop it maybe you could try and scoop the lime juice with the spoon or maybe it works never tried it
I’m so confused why you would do this. Did you see this on TikTok or something? It’s just calories in vs calories out. You can still *eat*
Mouth started watering invokuntarily at the sight of this
Its good on avocado
Isn’t that painful to eat? It’s going to be both sour and hot
If I ate this, I also would not want to eat again for the entire next day
Scurvy is something you will never have. Solid move.
Love it.
i didn't know that this was a thing! will try this soon, thanks
That milky substance that you're drinking is your melted enamel
Add some mezcal and you're having yourself a good time.
I eat the peel and everything
Jicama with Tajín are mine!
Wow! That’s a great idea!
Ok so I understand you from a flavor POV - but may I suggest a watered down limeade with a tajin rim? Also green melon with some tajin sprinkled on it does the trick without the acidity of the lime.
I do cucumber slices with some lime juice and tajin on them but just a lime with tajin? That's madness
