nashwaak

Also came here to say Bob. Sorry Steve.

Nocturne2319

I thought it was Stevie-Bob.

Defiant-Cry-1963

I think she's more of a Sally

2PlasticLobsters

I used to find these in my community garden plot, and they fooled me every times. I'd go to pull it & find the thorns, "Ouch!" Then I cursed it..."Bastard!" Eventually I thought of it as the Ouch Bastard plant.

Sleepy_InSeattle

😂

OrdinaryOrder8

Despite looking quite similar, this is NOT a nightshade family plant! The way the base of the leaf blade attaches to the petiole is wrong for Solanum carolinense. There are no prickles present either - just little hairs that sort of resemble prickles. Your plant is one of the maple/nettle-leaved goosefoots, Chenopodiastrum sp. [Here are some found in Michigan for comparison.](https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=29&taxon_id=514011) More info: [https://www.minnesotawildflowers.info/flower/maple-leaf-goosefoot](https://www.minnesotawildflowers.info/flower/maple-leaf-goosefoot) [https://pfaf.org/user/Plant.aspx?LatinName=Chenopodium+murale](https://pfaf.org/user/Plant.aspx?LatinName=Chenopodium+murale)

Phallusrugulosus

If it has thorns on the underside, Solanum carolinense

capital-minutia

Don’t touch them and then put your fingers in your mouth! Your tongue will go numb! There, saved you that lesson!

Bhahahaha! Underrated comment!

Peter. Looks like a Peter

Longjumping_Engine89

Peter is our cat 😂

gguru001

Several guesses that this is Carolina horse nettle.  That is incorrect.  With a plant this size you would see the spines on the stem and there are none in the picture.   It would also have rougher leaves.   The eastern black nightshade is a closer guess.  Compare to the second picture here https://crops.extension.iastate.edu/encyclopedia/eastern-black-nightshade

Rupert. Definitely a Rupert.

CptStrictIX

Got some lambs quarters bottom left it looks like…

klippDagga

Black nightshade perhaps?

HippyGramma

Leaves aren't quite right. Same family but this is Carolina horse nettle.

Gold-Ranger8815

Datura? If so, toxic

Polka_Tiger

Agreed. And also Becky.

oroborus68

Looks more like horse nettle. Same family.

debrindeumaflexada

my guess is also Datura

YeWhoSmokesBitches

Mitch Headweed

solventlessherbalist

Looks like datura but that leaf morphology is different. 🤔 It’s definitely not datura.

TakingBass2TheFace

Does it have yellowish spines on the stem? If so, it could be Solanum carolinense (horsenettle) and is toxic. I find these frequently in our cow pastures, they never touch the things.

melcasia

Need another picture of stems. Possibly lambs quarters

HortonFLK

That was my first impression, too. But I would advise the OP not to eat it.

melcasia

If we had more pictures we could positively ID but not just with this picture

melcasia

It does have more of a Solanum look though

creak788

Harvey

ThatDebianLady

Jim or James ( Jimson Weed)

soulruby

Some type of nightshade?

Grolsch33

It’s the Karen of your yard.

ysera_lives

Wild spinach!!

Theoglaphore

My first thought was Jimsonweed, but the stem doesn't look quite right for that. It looks like you might have some lambsquarter started in the bottom left. Does anyone know of a variety of lambsquarter with spikey leaves?

JulianH00ligan

I name her Elsie

Prudent-Sugar-92

Think it fat hen but not sure

HortonFLK

I had to look this up. Seems like all the responses are sorting into either solanum or Chenopodium.

Hanuman_Jr

Looks like it could be a baby Jimson weed. ED: Yeah, could be a nightshade, like the ones with the yellow and purple flowers. If no thorns Imma stick with Jimson weed though.

Longjumping_Engine89

No thorns

m4katz

Durman aka Datura this is how we call it. It’s poisonous

debrindeumaflexada

it looks like some kind of Datura, *Datura Stramonium* maybe. If so it is very hallucinogenic yet very toxic. "datura" comes from some indian language "dhat thora" that means "hallucinogenic poison" some ancient cultures would use it as a torture against their captured enemies. They would force the guy to drink this plant infusion and tie him up on the forest floor where some hatful fucking ants would bite the shit out of him while he's having the most awful meltdown
