I've seen a video compilation of his spins and it's wild how he manages to get the car under control. I remember a rainy qualifying when he spun and still got fastest lap at the time
Nah actually i think he might be right. Brazil 2016, hungary 2022, Germany 2019, france 2021, spain 2022, japan 2014 fp1 (?) he had very good results even after making a mistake
whereas mexico 2019, turkey 2020, saudi 2021 quali are the few ones after 2018 monaco that actually cost him.
Max has had his very fair share of extremely questionable misjudgements and errors that were past saving throughout his career. He used to be known as a crash pilot in his earlier years because of over aggressive driving (just ask Vettel, lol) and had a lot of moments in 2021. He’s an incredibly talented driver but let’s not go crazy here
Mind giving some examples of his mistakes after 2018 monaco that I haven't mentioned?
One is brazil 2022 but that wasn't a mistake but a conscious maneuver
> Ummm which ones? I only remember his mistakes in saudi and barcelona
Driving off the road and giving Hamilton the lead in France.
Crashing in Italy.
Spinning in Turkey qualy.
The entirety of the Saudi grand Prix, and his qualy crash.
Going off the road while attempting to overtake Hamilton in Bahrain and so having to give Lewis the place back, then ruining his tyres meaning that he couldn't try another overtake.
Him driving off the road attempting to crash off Hamilton in Brazil.
You should watch Brundle's interview with Max in Brazil 2016. Max explains the exact rational behind his actions after the car spun. It goes to show he's doing all the work even when the car is spinning to get it back on track facing the right way.
Also his previous saves like Germany 2019 etc does prove a point.
He said in an interview once that it's a deliberate move and he is patient enough to wait for the right moment to take control back. Probably learned it on the wet karting tracks in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Kinda baffling that it's not a skill that all/most drivers have. Some don't even try to recover and just go wheeee I'm spinning.
It actually may seem like luck, but I truly believe it's experience and intuition.
He just keeps his composure and very quickly and intuitively reacts.
It actually is s skill. You can use this example as Germany Leclerc 2018 anx Germany 2019 Hamilton/Bottas.
Leclerc and Hamilton kept counter steering, allowing the front to keep turning and catching it when it's facing the right way.
Bottas decided to straighten the wheel and caused the car to grip up and hit the barrier.
But it does really depend on the overal grip and speed
Imagine this happens for real in one of the remaining races with Checo at RB... second Q1 run or sth. Verstappen still through and Checo's lap still slower or barely faster despite a spin from Max. I'd just park it and go home.
Wonderful moment in F1TV where they said "Max must have gone off the track somewhere, you can tell by the brown on his tires" was fantastic, Max really played it off so well
He had some tiny errors over the season. Yesterday's tracklimit, spinning today, not getting a banker lap in Miami or hitting the pitwall in Silverstone qualy and accidentally going through a patch of grass in Melbourne. So not really things that had major consequences thusfar.
Yesterday’s quali mistake could potentially be the first that costs him points this year, but we will see on Sunday. Last year I think it was only the Singapore lockup that fit the bill.
It's called Spin & Win. A certified maneuver wilthin the Verstappen official Arsenal of Racewinning Moves. Typically applied in show-them-who's-boss scenarios. Some races where this trademark move was applied: Brazil 2016, Germany 2019, Hungary 2022, etc.
When Leclerc makes a mistake he's in the wall. When Max makes a mistake he spins and ends up facing the right way again. He did it 2-3 times last year. It's not a coincidence, his car control and feel is one of the best ever
I was kinda hoping they'd have a shot of that peak zoomed out more. Unfortunately Sky shot of that was tol close otherwise it'd be as good as Leclercs sundown quali
Has Verstappen ever spun and not faced the right way after?
He’s like a cat, but horizontal instead of vertical. You know what I mean.
He's like a cat because he shows everybody his exhaust.
Lol!
To be fair, vertical dexterity in an F1 car would be literally next level.
Mark Webber is an expert at that. And Alonso also, as we saw last season.
I rarely laugh out loud because of reddit comments but yours made me. Cheers mate!
We know what you mean.
I've seen a video compilation of his spins and it's wild how he manages to get the car under control. I remember a rainy qualifying when he spun and still got fastest lap at the time
Silverstone Q3 2022
It’s kind of crazy how he’s also better at making mistakes than other drivers are
He made mistakes and corrects them 3 tenths faster
Verstappen corrects the mistake, before the mistake ever realizes it is there.
This wasn’t a spin or a mistake, this was a championship victory donut, albeit a little late.
Clearly a showman
Max didn't make the mistake, it's the mistake made Verstappen
It’s the track that spun.
He's like the Chuck Norris of race car drivers.
"Before I make a mistake, I don't make that mistake" - Cruijff
His results and differences to his teammates make an argument that he is one of the all time bests, but this kind of stuff just drives it home.
Lol come on

2021 as I’ve said
Ummm which ones? I only remember his mistakes in saudi and barcelona

Both Quali and race in Saudi Arabia. Post edit: Belgium 2019 E: you could also count Brazil 21 if you like
He didn't do any mistakes in saudi race or brazil. They're just naughty/over the line maneuvers that he was in complete control of.
Nah, he just got lucky here. You can see he is not trying to spin the car all the way around.
You should watch Brundle's interview with Max in Brazil 2016. Max explains the exact rational behind his actions after the car spun. It goes to show he's doing all the work even when the car is spinning to get it back on track facing the right way. Also his previous saves like Germany 2019 etc does prove a point.
Where can you see it? Can you see his throttle and brake Inputs?
You can really tell people that have driven before from people that haven't by how much they judge what drivers are doing by their hands.

Silverstone 2021?
He was still facing the right way. Just in a wall.
Any clash with the Mercedes tank would leave the other car with wheels not pointing the right way
Maybe we should consider giving him a pass if not all 4 wheels are on.
Lmfaooo
Too soon
Well he faced the right way after Abu Dhabi that year at least
With help
Goatiffi giving max the W in his powerful grace

He's clearly content. How about yourself?
Singapore 2018?
thinking of 2017?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmRB-N1NGcU FP1 2022 Mexico
I would argue Turkey 2020: https://youtu.be/GBX9XqVDyOE?si=iyawp0_6WhOz560F
You can see him still trying to catch it but the car just keeps sliding
Turkey 2020.
In the beginning of his career and in monaco.
Verspinnen

It wasn't unsafe. He checked all directions.
He'd still be soloing the WCC without those points.
Turkey 2020
SERGIO NO! Oh sorry, force of habit. MAX NO!
Checo would’ve been in the barriers. Max does a 360 and continues on as if nothing happened.
And still probably a faster lap than perez
Imagine this happens for real in one of the remaining races with Checo at RB... second Q1 run or sth. Verstappen still through and Checo's lap still slower or barely faster despite a spin from Max. I'd just park it and go home.
Wonderful moment in F1TV where they said "Max must have gone off the track somewhere, you can tell by the brown on his tires" was fantastic, Max really played it off so well
IM DISGUSTED. Even his damn spins are perfect. When does he even get the experience for that?
Karting for endless hours when it rains or snows
The annual spin to see his competition at the back
I believe it’s called a Crazy Ivan, and he always goes to starboard in the bottom half of the hour.
The hunt for Red….Bull?
The Tom Clancy estate likely approves?
If only this had happened during the month of October, you could’ve made the perfect reply.
1 ping please.
"Max, we installed two mirrors on the car." Max: "who needs mirrors?"
Max showing off his pirouette again
Even his spins are perfect (it still obviously counts as a mistake)
First of the year? Or would that have been the track limit last week?
He had some tiny errors over the season. Yesterday's tracklimit, spinning today, not getting a banker lap in Miami or hitting the pitwall in Silverstone qualy and accidentally going through a patch of grass in Melbourne. So not really things that had major consequences thusfar.
He cannot possibly think of becoming a world champion while committing mistakes like this. Rb need to reevaluate their choices.
Wild this scrub is getting bailed out by the car.
Yesterday’s quali mistake could potentially be the first that costs him points this year, but we will see on Sunday. Last year I think it was only the Singapore lockup that fit the bill.
Australia went off in the lead
He’s had a few, but nothing major. Overall a very clean and almost flawless season.

“Just warming the tyres” - max, probably
If it bleeds we can kill it!
And then he went P1 for the Sprint LOL
all that for a drop of blood

Unfortunately he didn't win Brazil 2016 though.
In his 2nd year in F1, he was still perfecting the move that would become Spin & Win.
Imola 2021
What an insane car control
A 10/10 spin. Perfect 360 and recovery.
That's some 360, real crowd pleaser Max 🤣
Why is he even doing the second lap?
To make up for Practice 2&3
GP told him to. For "learning". I guess Verstappen experimented.
No, GP wanted to not do the lap, Verstappen wanted to do it for learning on T19. GP gave him the ok near the end of the lap prior
How he always has the best spins ,i don't remember seeing him into the wall .
I remember one time in 2021, but I don't think I want to mention that one by name.
That was something else
Almost took himself out on that kerb! Haha!
VER and his spins are crazy good
That was a very graceful spin!
Just warming up the tyres🤷♂️
This is why you put in a good banker lap, kids. Max still comfortably made it through
He was out for the sole purpose of practicing turn 19. He and GP already said he was safe (source: On Board radio)
I love maxs car control for his ballerina displays. Such great control.
Just a little whoopsie and then keep on like nothing happened, love it
Love how Max saved all his mistakes for after winning the championship
Guy is so bored of winning he started fucking up on purpose "The Checo Perez experience"
At this point he's just spinning to show off that he can always do a perfect 360
I'll try spinning, that's a cool trick!
MAX WHEN YOU SPIN YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO LOSE GODDAMIT
If my mistakes looked that good I'd have the perfect life
By the rules of F1, Lewis will fuck up something today
“Anything you can do, I can do better” - Lewis, probably
I wanna see that commercial with Hamilton and Verstappen now
Like driving his teammate off the track?
Bet he laughed on the radio
Lovely spin, that. — Max
One day we're gonna see Max spin and not recover in a 360. Then again, we might not... how does he do it every damn time?
Sim racing. He never stops racing. He must have a compact Sim rig in his bathroom. And probably has sex with a VR headset on.
Spin 2 win baby
How much faster was that laptime compared to Perez's ?
He was probably just bored
Eagerly waiting for the "Verstappen WASHED?" headlines.
My mother asked me if I had done the dishes... I replied to her: "Max Verstappen.." she smiled, for she knew they were washed
Max Verstappen is out safe word, that's when we know the other has finished
the most (and only) exciting thing on this entire shootout nonsense
Ah yes three different drivers within 6 hundredths of each other not exciting. Why even watch the sport?
F1TV: "And once again, the sprint shootout delivers! Such excitement!" I wonder if Domenicale writes these lines for them.
Liberty sure has a hand in all this, they dont even try to disguise the way they push every session of a sprint weekend as the best season of the year
tbh Baku and Qatar were fine for sprint qualification but this one... yeah
One car change between quali and sprint quali.
[удалено]
Alright. We'll make sure to remove this lap time. I hope it doesn't change the results.
[удалено]
Lucky how? It requires quite some skill to recover from a spin like that, not luck.
[удалено]
Who do you think he is? Checo Perez?
max makes just as many mistakes as leclerc. just doesn't matter in that car
When Leclerc makes a mistake he's in the wall. When Max makes a mistake he spins and ends up facing the right way again. He did it 2-3 times last year. It's not a coincidence, his car control and feel is one of the best ever
I've thought that before, he does it too often for it to be a coincidence.
difference is Max continues and usually wins the race, Charles is in the wall
Ah yes, it's comedy time!
Tell that to Perez 🤣
even the best makes a mistake once a while
Nice safe! But arent his tires ruined now?
I was kinda hoping they'd have a shot of that peak zoomed out more. Unfortunately Sky shot of that was tol close otherwise it'd be as good as Leclercs sundown quali
I have that too when I hit the wrong button in Mario Kart
When did this happen? I watched all the sessions this weekend and somehow missed this
