As a rule of thumb, Statistics posts need to inform readers through visualizations and insights that cannot be obtained from raw data alone. For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post.

The slow straight line speed is more worrying when you’re ahead than behind. Will be hard to defend cars coming with DRS unless they have DRS themselves.
Also lando can work with a top speed disadvantage, in Canada and Mexico he had much slower top speed than the people infront so he would sent it in the corners they weren’t expecting
They had terrible top speed all the times they were on the podium last year. Their race pace and corner speed seems to cover it up well. Plus Norris drives around the lack of top speed all the time, that’s why he makes those ridiculous overtakes in corners, and Piastri has had a year of learning how to do that.
This should indicate that Williams and Haas will have a super weekend at Monza and to a degree Las Vegas with the long straights, whilst McLaren and Mercedes will really struggle there
Poor DRS. They only gained like 18kph from DRS while Ferrari, Aston and RB gained closer to 25kph.
Might be down to their choice of rear wing but it’s costing them lap time for sure.
The biggest gap between teammates is Zhou and Bottas with 5 and then there is Perez and Verstappen with 9. Was it the insane draft or did they have totally different setups again?
Ever since almost losing 2021 because of that RBR has never again favored a quali setup against a race setup. I’m not expecting that to change this year.
Someone asked if the RBR DRS was as good this year.... here's your answer. Sainz got a mega tow in Q3 too and only went as fast as Checo without one. Yikes.

Is that the tow from Piastri that put Verstappen ahead?
Max got an even better tow in Q2 from Hulkenberg that was the 331kph
The comparison with Checo would suggest that it is.
Not sure if he reached 331 after Piastri's tow, but seen him reached 331 after taking Magnussen's tow in q2
Definitely. Twice in quali he got lined up to perfection to get a tow right at the start of his lap.
Probably, as Perez did 322
Max got that tow goin on
McLaren top speed is a bit worrying. Hope they can overtake.
You can overcome an 8 kph deficit with DRS, Max is an outlier here because of the tow from Piastri.
*Hulkenberg
They had very high minimum speed so hopefully they should be close enough out of the corners to overtake with drs.

Yeah they seem to have more drag and more downforce too - they were fastest in middle sector but losing in straights.
It might be like with overtaking Albon at Spa: Norris and Piastri will have to get creative in the corners again
Frederico Albano sounds like the name Alonso uses when he doesn’t want to be recognized.
Albon said Williams have gone for a new philosophy but from this data it seems pretty damn similar lmao

Mercedes still draggy or what’s the excuse now?

It's the tow he got either from Hulkenberg in Q2 or Piastri Q3. Max and checo regularly got 322 top.
Tow + Checo running higher rear wing. He just can't drive Max's setups
Verstappen with quali set up, Leclerc with race setup. This year.
Ever since almost losing 2021 because of that RBR has never again favored a quali setup against a race setup. I’m not expecting that to change this year.
I expect this to be the case. They set the car up for race pace and will be cool as a cucumber to their tires tomorrow.
That makes no sense, No way on hell was max 10 km/h faster than anyone else on the track. Edit: Tow makes perfect sense
He got a tow from Piastri on Q3
Ah then makes sense but didnt others also have tows? I thought Charles also had one but maybe not
Sainz got one on his last lap of Q3
Gotcha wrong Ferrari then
Not sure, I don't remember seeing many people getting a tow, even Max's seemed to be accidental Sometimes its not worth the risks
It seemed like every time Max started a lap he got a tow, and very much on purpose to me.
Carlos had one, not Charles
Got a tow from Hulk in Q2 that caused the overspeed
Big slipstream from Piastri
It was the q2 one from hulk
Drs plus tow, I think one of the Ferraris (Sainz from stroll?) so it shouldn’t have been this drastic but that’s one of the factors.
It seems like they still have the huge DRS advantage from last year considering him vs Sainz.
I can’t see Ferrari shaving off but so much rear wing, their tire deg issue is better but not gone.
>No way in hell >Edit: Tow makes perfect sense lol

Another sitting duck year for McLaren, now they have to compromise rear wing levels to make up for inherent draggy nature of the car.

Wrote Haas off before now but if they actually figured out tire stuff they're going to have a pretty good start to the season.
..and Max only gets better.
