As a rule of thumb, Statistics posts need to inform readers through visualizations and insights that cannot be obtained from raw data alone. For example, a post containing a qualifying gap between two drivers expressed in tenths of a second is an easily obtainable raw piece of data and constitutes a bad Statistics post. A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post.

They dropped Alex after his first full season with them and he was 109 points down on Max. Checo is 119 points down after 11 races in his fourth year in Red Bull.
To add onto your comment of points in the last 5 races:
Verstappen 93
Russell 69
Norris 67
Piastri 64
Hamilton 55
Leclerc 50
Sainz 48
Perez 14
With all the chatter about the field closing up so much since Miami (which is true) it's easy to forget that for the first 5 races that Red Bull was still near unstoppable and had a massive enough gap on the field for Checo to still slot in on the podium, despite being miles off Max.
If they can consistently get both cars in points anything is possible.
It’s odd to me that they’re either both out, or they flip flop. Rarely do they get a double points finish.
Not a lot of room in the standings for double points finishes, in all fairness. There are four teams clear from the midfield so that means that P1 to P8 should be spoken for every race, so that only leaves P9 and P10 for the best of the rest.
What Haas did this weekend was sensational. They took advantage of 2 top 8 cars being out of the points, and with AM dropping away since Canada there's now 2 additional points spots up for grabs. But for most of the season, a single bottom 5 car sneaking into the points was all we were likely to get.
It certainly seems that way now, but it's such a long season. Keep in mind that this was Haas' first points finish in several weeks, so things can change fast. Alpine have been terrible and now they're looking ok again, Vcarb have been up and down, Haas have been up, down and now they're back up. I wouldn't bet against AM improving enough to at least solidify P5 within the next 3-5 rounds. The only thing I'm confident in is that Williams and Sauber will be the bottom two.
Still not easy, checo had been checo in the last 5 races and the next 3 teams are taking points away from each other, and none of them is closing the gap to RB.
As exciting as this season is turning out to be, what you said is extremely important.
Team 1 vs RB makes it a real fight.
Team 1 vs team 2 vs team 3 and RB makes it so RB can breathe, figure out the car and Perez a little.
Over 12 races, that alone does push them over in the WCC, but even with Checo underperforming he'd still add 4-10 points for RBR each weekend which would be enough to keep them ahead.
Williams have scored points ONCE this season, but no they're still "moving in the right direction" just because James Vowles sounds intelligent during interviews.
I don’t think any team deserves “hate” but I do agree that alpine got a lot of flack for the start of the season and they did say they knew it was gonna be tough.
In fairness, Albon could’ve secured another point in Canada if not for Sainz so there has been some potential there but ultimately when Alpine have two good drivers compared to Williams with just one, the difference is really shown.
While I agree that Vowles is covering up a lot of bad PR, let's not forget that one of these teams is a factory works outfit owned by a manufacturer worth over 14 billion euros, and the other is a team that almost went bankrupt 4 years ago, and who (thanks to the cost cap) are essentially stuck with the worst organisational structure, facilities and infrastructure in F1.
Williams are nearly as bad now as Alpine were to start 2024, but they're essentially battling with one arm tied behind their back.
People have to realize how far behind they were and how miraculous 2023 was for them. Volwes is doing a good job but people saying that Sainz should go there because they will be upper midfield soon are asanine
Yeah, fully agreed on this.
I feel bad for Sainz in a way. His only 3 options now are Sauber, Williams and Alpine. All of them are really not in a good place currently!
Formula 1.B Update
Drivers to cross the Bearman Threshold:
- Hulkenberg
- Ricciardo
Keep an eye out for Gasly and Kmag who may very well get across in Silverstone, with an outside chance for Ocon!
Williams and Kick Sauber remain the only 2 teams below the Bearman Threshold, after Alpine clinched it in Barcelona.

I know what you're all thinking..... How the hell is Checo on 118?
Looks like Piastri will be passing him soon, and possibly Russell.
Points in the last 5 races Verstappen 93 Perez 14

I guess Perez's father has more WhatsApp screenshots of Horner..
64 of them in the first 4 races. Which means he’s averaged just under 8 points a race since.
Exactly my thoughts! Unbelievable that he is still in the top 5, but perhaps not for long.
In danger of falling to 7th at this point
8th maybe

It’s the car… put 2 x Perez in a Red Bull and they are in the midfield.
No, the car isn’t that bad. Perez is just really crap.
No it isn’t. Perez is just bad.
What scoring points do to a mfer
VCarb with a real shot at 5th is just shocking.

I think Haas and VCarb will be fighting for best of the rest if Aston doesn’t stop their tumble.

If checo continues to checo, Mclaren could challenge for the title. Lando is cooked on the wdc though
"He's only 4 DNF away"
With the way max battles its not that farfetched. The issue is its lando that will be the likely one to battle him..

It’s going to take a lot of McLaren wins. A Max, Lando, Piastri podium only nets 8 points for Mclaren.

Only 100 ish points between them.
I just need for RBR lose their WCC so Horner learns the lesson
you think he can learn a lesson?
Max already double Checo’s points. Will be 7th after Silverstone, probably 8th a few races after that.
Silverstone is usually good for Checo maybe he wil not be best of the rest?
Top 3 points after Monaco: Verstappen - 68 Norris - 43 Leclerc - 12 😭
That's the Faustian bargain Charles signed in order to finally win in Monaco.
Yuki has to step up if he wants to keep his stock high, these last couple of races were uncharacteristically mid since he signed.
It’s the “upgrade”
Daniel has been making it work and there would be really no excuse if they where flipped. Needs to find the early season form again.
Imagine being Kick Sauber 💀
i hope bottas gets a seat next year. hes better than this backmarker lf a backmarker team
Checo is the 3rd Racing Bull
Too bad Charles had such a shit day. He could have gotten 2nd back.
I fucking hate Perez. I swear Red Bull resigned him just to ruin everyone else's race
I mean, Piastri hit Charles not Perez, and Piastri had more space on the left. He did try to ruin Piastri's race tho
Piastri was already very much on the outside
Perez squeezed him. There was no space there
Poor Alpine, 6+3= 8 for them
My bad!
I thought it was funny
Williams have scored points ONCE this season, but no they're still "moving in the right direction" just because James Vowles sounds intelligent during interviews.
That's what I'm saying. They deserve all the hate that Alpine got at the beginning of the season.

Max gained more in the driver standings by finishing P5 with Lando out than by winning the race with Lando in P2.
Checos agent deserves a raise for securing him another co tract with Red Bull. Max fighting for the win while checo is stuck between two haas cars.
Max has more than Lando. Checo has more than Oscar. Some people here: "RedBull lost the WCC".
Oh come on, it's not *that* unreasonable to assume that Oscar will outscore Checo by more than Max will outscore Lando.
Ferrari closing in the constructors championship 😃
It is weird that sergio is no.5 ? His performance is not that good
