When was the last drive through or stop-and-go penalty? I feel like it's been years since I've seen one.

D0BBY_is_a_free_elf

Hamilton, this year during the Miami sprint. Converted to a 20s time penalty as it was imposed during the last 3 laps of the race. (for pit lane speeding)

yatpay

Wow I totally missed this, thanks

CasualViewer24

Why did Checo only receive a 5 second penalty for speeding in the pitlane compared to the driver through penalty Hamilton received?

D0BBY_is_a_free_elf

Checo was only 2.1 km/h over the limit, Hamilton was 10.7 km/h. The regulations say 6-15 km/h over the limit warrants a drive-through penalty.

AnilP228

Hamilton in the Sprint. Alonso post race in Australia.

# First time at Silverstone this week - Any tips? My partner and I are camping at Silverstone this week, for the first time. We'd appreciate any advice from those that have been before / are planning to go this year. We have inner track access Friday, We're going to the Mahaki party on Saturday and have General Admission Plus for Abbey on Sunday. Any advice specifically related to traffic, camping, food and unmissable activities would be welcome, alongside stories of other people's experiences! Thanks

Kwayzar9111

take a small comfy memory foam cushion for the seats if you are planning to watch all the days race events.. so worth it

Dexcat9

Noted!

FermentedLaws

If you're not aware, you can bring your own food and drink in. Download the Silverstone app if you haven't already as it will have all times/events and any updates to the weekend. Stating the obvious probably, but bring clothes for all types of weather. Have fun! Was thinking about this earlier today. Let us say any driver. other than Perez was in the second red bull. Would they be performing closer to how checo is performing or closer to what Max is. What do you guys think.

GeologistNo3726

Closer to Perez. Perez, Gasly and Albon have all been completely bulldozed in that second seat, and none of them are bad drivers looking at the rest of their careers. There’s no reason to rank any of them significantly below someone like Bottas. I think Verstappen right now is like Schumacher 1994-2002, the last time one driver had a significant advantage over the next best driver. Most drivers on the grid would get completely crushed by him. There’s a few drivers who would be a bit closer to him in the same car (in my opinion on current form Leclerc and Norris would be closest), but I still think they’d fall well short.

LawrenceBeltwig

Where are all my spicy Zak Brown quotes about what went down last weekend? NOt like him to be so quiet.

The music hasn’t stopped yet on their indycar team’s musical chair night

Can someone explain to me how Palmer was biased in his analysis?

nn2597713

I was watching to the Jolyon Palmer analysis of the Austria race (https://f1tv.formula1.com/detail/1000008481/jolyon-palmer-s-analyse-oostenrijk) and at about 15:54 he says regarding the corner where they collided (see https://imgur.com/a/2Bqv8Fw for the situation he’s discussing). > *“He doesn’t really want to take the curb because in doing so you’re going to unstabilize the car (…) Lando could legitimately avoid this (…) but it’s not up to him to avoid a collision”* There was about a meter of curb which is part of the track to Lando’s left. Lando refused to go there. So is it really the case (like Palmer states) that if there is a car’s width of room but a chasing driver refuses to use part of the track, it’s up to the lead driver to accommodate that and move over more themselves?

Meaisk

anything outside the white line is "off the track". As you need to leave a car's width *on* the track, Norris was fully allowed to not move to avoid the collision.

newdecade1986

It’s also a double standard. If people want to be picky about the white lines in Austria, you can’t demand drivers be penalised for crossing them in one part of the track while conversely expecting them to cross them to avoid a collision (for which they are not liable) elsewhere.

Cekeste

I think someone smarter than me can maybe justify it because I know exactly what seems so paradoxical but I also see it as natural for the rules.

DashingDino

The full rule is they cannot cross the white line *to gain an advantage*, so crossing the white line for safety reasons is not against the rules. It happens quite frequently on lap 1 where there are cars going off track to avoid collisions

skagoat

He was allowed to not move... but not avoiding the collision cost him the race. So in hindsight he should have went n the curb.

going_dicey

Exactly. Its all a bit of a farce. If someone randomly cuts across you while you're driving down a residential road from the other side, sure you don't have to slow down or try and avoid (and they'll still be at fault). But it might be wise to take avoiding action. They were on the edge and I'd probably say its a 60/40 split.

skagoat

Has anyone heard any rumours about when or if Red Bull have any upgrades to their car coming?

Alternative-Care-539

This weekend, I think

suchsnowflakery

Is Lando's racing too aggressive?

Otherwise_Ad_7504

What are the benefits of paying for the F1 app subscription if I already have another subscription that has the ESPN broadcast? I’m new to watching F1 and so I’m just curious if the app adds so much to the experience that I should check it out if I can already functionally watch the race

ArkBirdFTW

Are there any YouTube channels that do in depth telemetry analysis and pov footage review on driver performance. I wish we could quantify what it means when we say for example Max is faster than Perez or Lando manages his tires better than Piastri. People just mention driving styles but there’s clearly a lot more to it than just braking late or early.

CreativeOrder2119

Palmer analysis nailed it let see how Silverstone looks like

No_Cauliflower7877

This [@checoperezcom](https://x.com/checoperezcom/status/1808273510713716874) account said that Hadjar would be taking Perez's car for FP1. Is it his actual official news account or just a fan masquerading as an official one? (I don't entirely trust the bio, lol)

iIenzo

I'm not sure. It could be either. It hasn't been announced anywhere else that I can find.

No_Cauliflower7877

Yeah, I'm confused because the account seems legit enough but also ... why would Perez's personal news account be the only one announcing it? I hope it's true, the more F2s in one FP1 the better, IMO.

Cekeste

Watching Jeddah '21 on DAZN. The radio coms that were broadcast were so selected. PDR sounds so disappointed and borderline embarrassed. You can sense that he's saying that this is unprecedented without understanding Spanish. Imagine: VER as DODT?
