PleasingApricots

Monaco snooze fest was the final straw for me. Cancelled Now subscription and resuming sailing the seven seas.

[deleted]

was painful knowing I paid to watch that, where does one climb aboard the ship

kelleehh

But it’s the same every year? Why did you watch it in the first place.

bigbodylx

Idk I pay $80/yr for f1tv. I’m good with that

blazingwine

Multiviewer with F1TV is the way

ug61dec

Yup, but still can't get in the UK any more like I've been able to last few years.

Bigcupcake01

2 bucks? what?

PleasingApricots

The 2 euros is for "Boost". Basically gives you 1080p and some other perks because NowTV are greedy crooks.

malev0lent_

The fact that 1080p is not the default streaming resolution in 2024 should be a crime.

dohtje

2bf that 4k is not standard streaming resolution in 2024 is also appalling...

Ty_Rymer

nah, 4k is 4 times more data bandwidth and processing than 1080p. most peoples screens aren't 4k, most people's processors don't handle 4k nicely, and most people share their internet connection with 2 or more people, which makes 4k hard on the bandwidth. it financially makes no sense for a service provider to make 4k the default. it's 4 times the price for facilitating a niche

dohtje

You do know about 44% of TV's in households are 4k right in 2024? Also there's only about 30-40 mbit speed needed for 4k. I mean even my phone gets 400-600mbit nowadays....

Ty_Rymer

do you know that tv's are not the most used devices for streaming, and thus, it's 44% of a niche. and just because your phone gets 400-600 mbit doesn't mean that the most common internet speed isn't still around 25mbit. just because you're privileged to have fast internet and a 4k tv doesn't mean everyone is.

dohtje

Source: trust me bro? A multi BILLION dollar corporation should at least give the option.. PS a simple Google search results in: According to a survey by Statista in April 2023 about 70% of people still prefer to watch sports on traditional TV's. On top of that starting from the 80th (out of 162 countries the average bandwith starts to drop below 40mbit in 2024 according to fair internet report

Ty_Rymer

source: it's my job as a developer to know the hardware I'm targeting

dohtje

Seems your hardware is a couple of years behind 🤷🏻

Heavy_Gur_8281

But what if they made 1080 the default and charged more? 720 is fine for people who only watch on phones/small screens

LAZERSHOTXD

The year is 2024 imagine watching 720p from a 50nci tv let alone 1080p And for your point the main cost is the license not some miniscule up in bandwidth

Cinkodacs

While I partially agree, but going from 720p to 1080p is almost double the bandwidth. The difference in cost is far greater than you think.

Ty_Rymer

the cost from 720 to 1080 is not miniscule at all.

kwijibokwijibo

You're both wrong. That's clearly 2 pesos

Pavilion27

It's pounds

not_wadud92

I'm sorry did you just say pay extra for 1080. Not UHD, but 1080. I of course would never yo ho ho anything but I heard that dodgy man and his IPTV gives UHD by default, and multiple backups for UHD, FHD, HD and SD, and also gives you a direct line to the F1TV stream if you don't like Sky commentary. And also has international streams if you prefer foreign audio. And haa individual driver cams. This is what I heard, I of course would never pay the equivalent of a single month of sky sports for a year of a considerably better service

Tempting offer

twentytoeight

I'm paying £5 a month for boost on top of £25 for now sports. How do I get boost for that price?

Marcus9T4

Go to cancel the subscription and sometimes they’ll offer you a good deal! I got to keep my sports discount longer that way
