It's something boomers made up without any evidence anyone has ever done it. They think they're so clever and funny while using the same joke for 40 years.
A couple of guys I know did the same with 3 white mice. And added a card "Find the 4 mice". This all at the home of a friend of theirs, who was getting married that day. (kind of a tradition in the area to f\*\*\* with the house of newly weds) Apparently the couple spend 4 hours after the party looking for the 4th mouse.
To the folks saying this wouldn’t have happened: My high school boyfriend actually did this with pigs as his senior prank. His little brother who was a sophomore helped him, and they both were expelled. He had to do summer school to get his diploma. This was in Las Vegas, NV in 2003.
We just got permission to do whatever we want for our senior prank, and their holding a vote between greed up chickens or pigs as we speak...I'm team hog, they won't be caught if they don't want to be.
When I was in high school in rural New Hampshire, one year the seniors actually did this as their senior prank! One of the guys I was in drama club with lived on a farm and one of the pigs had given birth a few months prior to graduation…watching the teachers scramble was hilarious!
A joke as old as time. I usually read this being done with pigs, sometimes greased pigs.
amazing username
Yes, I’ve always heard it as pigs, but one time I heard it as cows.
If you can't get pigs, goats are valid.
I think the pigs one came from "What's with Andy?"

Are you okay? Show us on the doll where the generation touched you.
Definitely didn't touch my fun bone. Boomer humor is garbage.
Not sure if it’s allowed to say but happy cakeday
Gonna have to pull this prank myself once I leave HS
It's customary to do it with two pigs, 1 and 3.

This prank was ancient when I graduated HS nearly 16 years ago
I've heard of this prank before, but they were pigs instead of chickens.
Gonna pull this prank on the last day of the school year
last time I heard this it was pigs.
What's with Andy

Funny prank. I'm not a prank person either

A tale as old as time. When I heard this one, it was in 2006, and it was pigs labeled 1, 2, and 4. I get the feeling it's never actually happened
