The Sport is much shorter and loses the triangular section and clip (unless you add one). Ink capacity is lower and the convertor is really not worth the effort. It's a good choice if you want something pocketable - it's perfectly fine to write with when posted - and Kaweco sells a neat little cartridge dispenser, so there's no reason not to get one if you want it.

I was thinking of getting the clip as well

It's a reliable clip, but it seems that you have to be careful when mounting it to avoid scratching the pen. I have a couple of plastic Sports (fountain pen and rollerball) and have a clip on each. You don't need it as a roll stop, though, because the cap is strongly facetted.

I’ve had both and greatly prefer my Kaweco AL Sport in Black which I use as my EDC.🖤

It’s heavy and a bit annoying to post everytime you want to jot something down. It was too heavy for my small hands so I sold it pretty quickly. Also consider the cost. A safari is cheap and easily replaceable if you lose it whereas the AL sport is an investment which will sting if you misplace or drop it!

I’ve got one as a pocket pen, so they’re definitely able to do the job. I’d go with a fine (or medium) nib, as the EF has more of a tendency to hard start and the B uses up too much ink for such a small ink capacity. I used to refill cartridges because the mini converter seemed ridiculously small, but after getting one for free and testing it, it’s actually much better than I thought. since you fill up the feed as well, it doesn’t really make much difference and it’s much faster to just pull up some ink as needed. The downside is that unless you got small hands, like me, you do need to post it to write. The Safari is also a very good EDC, but obviously less of a pocket pen, but it also means it’s faster to whip out. I’ve got a bunch of Safaris with different ink colours in work and they’ve all held up amazingly well.

I EDC Kaweco Sports in my pocket and am fine but don't do a lot of writing, just quick notes.  Also don't have deep pockets so couldn't imagine shoving a Safari in there and being able to sit down without it popping out.        Durability wise, I the aluminum would have a leg up.  I case carry my Safaris and the earliest one still show some wear.  The 2020 candy aquamarine has taken on a smoother finish than it's original matte.  My 2019 macaroon blue has a looser cap than usual but that's probably because I swapped in some mint green parts (end cap and section).  The snap cap is a definite plus for me.
