Tanks are a fundamental member of the MMORPG holy trinity, with the other members being support and dps. Tanks manage boss aggro, tank damage, and perform other tanklike stuff.

Except, tanks in foxhole can bite harder than our DPS can

So tanks can be variable. Many tanks have different functions. 1. When attacking a BB tanks can’t get near AT because it will fuck them up. So they provide additional support to infantry in the trenches so their infantry can satchel the AT. They can sit on the roads cutting of logi in a flank. They keep the tanks inside the base from rushing out and crushing the infantry. 2. Tanks can be used for partisan ops where you cut off logi lines quickly sweep and destroy watch towers. Or quickly deal with partisans. They can help quickly remove MG and rifle garrisons. 3) LTD and small fast tanks can provide a good distraction as well as out maneuver big tanks and get behind them to blow them up. This only really works if it’s a single tank. Too much concentrated fire and they die. 4) Big tanks can sometimes have the 250mm gun which is great at destroying structures. I’m still a noob but this is what I have learned.

Tanks are mobile defenses. Sure you have cheaper and possibly better weapons. But infantry are squishy and easy to kill. And defenses take time to set up that you don't always have. So you use tanks. They have lots of health and take reduced damage. Plus when the enemy tanks and heavy AT dies they can push up and clean out structures. Because tanks can hold a great deal more explosives than infantry.

Oh also range. Tanks outrange infantry by far. Even the 'longest range' infantry AT weapon only matches their range. And thats the mounted bonesaw which is immobile.

The problem is a lot of tank crews show up with the tank and forget to actually bring anything with them. The amount of time ive heard a tank go “sorry waiting for shells” is in the hundreds. As for strength I think theyre ability to kill enemy mg’s is unmatched.

I'd say tanks have a role to play in increasing morale, just as in real life, it boosts the morale of infantry men when they see a tank by their side.

Not when I am in a tank.... When I am driving it always seems like the infantry would rather sit in a hole and tunnel vision. Then completely ignore the guy running around them tossing stickies...

I would say territory control & movement. They pretty much bolster an area as even more a "no-go" zone for enemy infantry, and unlike pillbox can move with the lines.

COG_SMT

mobile warfare is purpose of tanks. When tank arrives to highly pop frontline he is here just to not let enemy have armour superiority and for support infantry, when they ask for it.If nobody ask them to kill few MG pillboxes then they will just sit behind to force enemy to have more AT squad which leads to friendly inf superiority. But main porpose is splitpush of lightly fortified objectives.PVE as conveyor. That's purpose of tanks

Entirely depends on the type of tank / where it is. Tanks can cut logi a bit more oppressively as infantry is forced to use at, or they pull away tanks from the front to deal with them. Tanks can hold bunkers far more effectively than tripods / garrisons (other than t3) as both of those things tend to be nullified by pve power creep. 40mm Tanks can pve safer than any other tool (other than alligator cheese or maybe night push40) 68mm Tanks are almost exclusively for killing other Tanks/vehicles. Tanks can also randomly massively succeed/fail at these tasks as subsystem damage can basically randomly one shot them / bounce makes them near invincible by chance. Tanks are effectively invincible if the enemy isn't equipped with at (or good at) making them extremely strong at pushing anything undefended / I'll equipped. Perhaps Tanks biggest use is making infantry quit the game after holding s to hard counter infantry at lmao.
