That could be the case. Some footage and audio I was given was recorded by the clients which is never going to look great no matter what. I think it could be the case that they know it's not going to be the ultimate result due to this. I'll often give them tips on how to capture better footage and audio. Maybe pointing this out is my downfall.
The client was in the States and I'm in Ireland unfortunately. But I do have permission to their logo through the contract I set up.
I find that people dont want to overthink their projects. So they tell us (I am a video editor too) Im giving you creative freedom! That means we are the brains and they dont want to bother. If you get paid on the way everything is fine, dont worry.

Are you sure they're not just running off with your rough cut so they don't have to pay?
They've paid full which is the odd thing. The sizzle reel I mentioned was the most I have been paid by a client since starting my business.
