MrMister2905

Wyzen

Reminder ;) they actually had a decent selection for me, i was shocked, I just hope they arent bad for 2nds.

Wxzowski

Wyzen

Stimulus199

MER-MAN!

Structure-These

meermin loafers are great for ladies btw. my wife has a few pairs. im going to be looking for her as the sizes dont go fast and you have a lot of great options

baptidzo

How did you size for her?

Structure-These

size chart is accurate and TTS imo my wife is a US7 in most shoes. nikes etc and her meermin loafers are 4 1/2 we got them in Madrid probably 7 years ago though so if the sizing has changed we're screwed

baptidzo

Thanks!

Structure-These

WailingSouls

Any update?

rocketdoggies

Which coast's time is the 1pm referencing?

rinchen11

EST

rocketdoggies

Thank you!

FWIW, I am typically a US Men’s 12.5/13 in most shoes and sneakers and I purchased a pair of oxfords during their last seconds sales in a UK 11.5 and they were super snug. Tried breaking them in and using some cedar show trees, but ended up having to sell them on eBay.

pzycho

Conversely, I’m pretty strictly an 11 US. Got a pair of their waxy shell loafers 10UK and I’m absolutely swimming in them.

rinchen11

It’s better to confirm the fit of the last first, some lasts are tts, some fits large/small, it’s common in leather shoes.

Xorbidant

I’m a US12 so then the UK11.5 would probably be the best for me I’m guessing

Wyzen

11.5UK is pretty much 12.5US, you prolly want 10.5UK at the most, but prolly 10UK

jtn1123

How much do the prices usually get to for seconds

lieutjoe

Password ??

rinchen11

It’s open, the password was for Meermin to work on the site. https://seconds.meermin.com/collections/factory-seconds-sale

tmunoz11

I'm usually a 12 in nikes, or a 10.5 in red wings (IR)... any thoughts on the size for the 116080 - TOBACCO WAXY SHELL CORDOVAN

jtn1123

don't risk it on chelseas on a final sale bro you deserve chelseas that fit you perfectly

Rachmannanoff

I’m loving this. The way you phrased it is how the little voice in our heads speak to us sometimes. 😂

rinchen11

Their last guide is pretty accurate https://seconds.meermin.com/pages/lasts https://seconds.meermin.com/pages/size-guide-men

tmunoz11

i did this, and it adviced 9.5 UK (10.5 US) so going with that https://meermin.com/pages/size-advisor

Wyzen

Thanks for sharing this, friend. I finally was able to get some of that waxed shell for $150...since I have no clue what that even means I didnt want to risk full price, but as I am a sucker for all things shell, I have been wanting to get some for the novelty at the very least. Fingers crossed they are in decent shape and fit well.

Vikter_Black

Scooped up a pair of TOBACCO WAXY SHELL CORDOVAN Chelsea boots. Started shopping at 1:05pm est and glad i did. They went quickly after that. They will be my first pair of Meermin. They should look great once they get some patina. :-)

ohwowverycool69

UK sizing, no idea what these lasts mean. I'm out.

rinchen11

Their last guide is pretty good actually, for most other brands I had to get info from styleforum. https://seconds.meermin.com/pages/lasts

GreatestShits

Never heard of this company. Anyone have any recs on things to look out for?

NobiLi-ty

Spanish company that makes GYW boots in China. Pretty similar styles to Thursdays, typically seen as better quality but not super comfortable. I would especially look out for their shell cordovan stuff. Some of the lowest prices for shell boots on the market if they're on sale

DontFearTheBeaver

Meermin has always made their shoes in China, it’s a core part of their business model. The angle is that they set up their own factory in China and trained the staff themselves, rather than contracting out, and still finish the shoes in Mallorca. Otherwise, I’m not sure how they’d stay at their price point.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DontFearTheBeaver

That sounds right to me.

ruinevil

So like Allen Edmonds makes their shoes in the Dominican Republic and assembles them in Wisconsin.

baptidzo

They use several tanneries for shell. When they use Horween they say so, Shinki same, Racado same. The “heritage” shell is the undisclosed tannery, and the assumption is some tannery(ies) in China. I have a pair of boots from the Heritage brand that I got deeply discounted, and they’re great at the deep discount price. But I probably wouldn’t buy another pair, unless it was a cool makeup or unique color or something.

baptidzo

No loose grain whatsoever. My pair of boots is rolling just as nicely as my horween shell as far as looks are concerned. I would say the feel is a bit different. It’s hard to describe, but it’s obvious the tannage is just different from Horween. I can’t speak to longevity as I haven’t owned them long enough, but I don’t see anything to suggest it’s not going to last. The one criticism I have is the finishing isn’t as good as Horween at least in terms of my personal preference. There seems to be a bit of a finish applied on top of the shell in addition to the dye of the shell (Alden does this too, to be fair). This evens out the color, which some prefer. I would rather have a more natural look; shell tends to have some variation which I like. But that’s more preference than a quality issues I think.

holla_snackbar

I have a pair of their shell boots made with Shinki, and they're alright. Rough break in, mediocre finishing that looks ok now that they're broken in. The welt looks like it was cut with a ravioli wheel. The construction is durable though.

Wyzen

I have their jumper boots in their burgundy "heritage shell." It's great if you dont have any other shell against which to compare, and IMO, still totally worth the price for new; they look great, are surprisingly well built, and the finishing rivaled that of Grant Stone (although admittedly, I may have been lucky on that front). However, if you are familiar with Horween, Shinki, and even Rocado, it might unimpress and even fall flat; it just doesnt have the level of je ne sais quoi that I am obsessed with when it comes to the other maker's shell; the color depth is less, it has a more even coloration when new (likely due to finishing with pigmented polish they apply-not like Alden who applies a pigmented acrylic layer in finishing), its far stiffer, and requires a bit more TLC. All in all, however, I think it's a great entry point for those interested in shell. The consensus is that they source their shell from Rocinante, a smaller South American tannery.

baptidzo

I would say they are a pretty big step up in quality, on par with Allen Edmonds generally.

rinchen11

Meermin is a Spanish shoes company owned by the same family as Carmina, which does same thing but at a higher quality/price point, Meermin is solid for the price, I would put them slightly below Allen Edmond (and a lot cheaper) but I like their styles more than AE, they won’t be very comfortable right out of the box due to how stiff the leather is. A lots of their review on Reddit, might be worth a look.

Structure-These

yeah I have meermin loafers that are like 7 years old and they're uncomfortable as shit still. just never broke in

ann0yed

Recommend ordering some moleskin and prepare for a long break-in. Still breaking in a couple pairs I bought in 2020. I decided to upgrade my office wardrobe and then covid hit and I started working from home. Haven't worn them enough to break them in yet.

olyRaccoon

Tbh as someone who ordered some pairs from Meermin, I'm feeling comfort depends on tannery. Pairs I got which had Du Puy leather were very stiff, but anything from Annonay or CF Stead was much better (Kudu is so soft). My most comfortable are my most recent as well but I feel like they get better cuts of leather from Annonay and CF Stead

mhkk93

Would this be final sale?

DontFearTheBeaver

Yes

rinchen11

I think so

Global_Lion2261

Yeah. They really make you dig to see that it's final sale. Bought a pair last sale that didn't fit and had to resell on eBay

[deleted]

Nice! Got a pair of loafers a couple years back from this sale and was very happy, could barely even tell they were seconds. Looking forward to taking a peek tomorrow.

rinchen11

Yeah, shoe seconds are great, most people put more wears on shoes than factory imperfects in first few wears anyways.

paradisesky1098

I bought a pair of their loafers and they’re extremely uncomfortable. They also look too long on the foot due to the last (despite being the correct size).

jtn1123

That means you don’t have the right size lol

crispetas

Isn't t their main line already factory second?

viberg_overrated

pretty much ahah, quality is better than thursday, but still bad vs grant stone

papijaja

I have a pair of unworn Meermin Snuff Suede penny loafers in UK 7E (US 8 ish) I'm selling if anyone wants. PM me for details.

LakersP2W

Anyone know how bad the seconds are ? Factory first was already shit quality

rinchen11

I had 2 of their seconds, one pair has a small mark on the shank, can’t really locate anything on another pair, YMMV.

Yiuc27

Love their belts

pistofernandez

Its available

jtn1123

thanks for posting! i was able to get the exact shoe I want in my exact size! now to see if the belt I want in my size will eventually go on sale in a future seconds hahaha Edit: wild, I got an arrival date of Friday!

Impots

Anyone have the European link?

Rachmannanoff

I got sniped so many times this year. Stuff was disappearing real fast. They should give you at least 5 minutes of cart time. But hey, I got some stuff. Thanks for posting this.

StinkyFishSauce

Is it advisable to get longer size belt and then let it cut down to correct size? Since my belt's size is out of stock. Edit: nvm it's all gone T\_T

Craftbjjr

Thanks for the heads up on this I just scooped up a pair of gyw hiro oxfords in black for $118. Just realized I got a 9.5 instead of 9 oops. Hopefully they will fit.

Rachmannanoff

Has anyone else noticed that the taxes charged include the shipping amount?

Password12346

Thanks for posting! I got my sizing done at the NY store a bit ago and finally got to order two Chelseas in my size on this sale!

heroesgritaban

Based on previous years, does anybody know if there will be a Factory second sales for EU customers? Thank you!

Additional-Long-9067

Just an fyi: My order with Meetmin was a trainwreck from the very beginning. First of all, I received deeply flawed advice on shoe size from this company, that led to the purchase of n incorrect sizes for my entire purchase. I then had to ship the entire purchase back, at my expense, for an exchange - that I was told I would not need to pay duties and taxes on, because it would be marked as an “exchange”. Now, I have been told by FedEx that I will need to pay duties and taxes ALL OVER AGAIN on the entire purchase!!! This is my first purchase with Meermin, and it will be my last!

rinchen11

That’s very unfortunate, how did the size problem occurred? I always ordered mine based on the sizing guide and it fits me. I would notify FedEx that it’s an exchange not purchase, I think FedEx was unaware about the shipment being an exchange instead of purchase.

Additional-Long-9067

I read online that there was a size difference between uk and us sizing for shoes. I asked their advice - told them I was in Canada; a size 9, and they recommended a Uk size 8. When I got the shoes, they were one size too small. Despite the email they sent, the exchange was at my expense. THEN, when FedEx received the shipment, they received it as a new purchase - not the exchange that would exclude it from Duty and taxes. I will never order from Meermin again

rinchen11

Their size is UK size, I wear 8.5 US and always bought 7.5 from Meermin, it’s either you are not a US 9, or you expect leather shoes to be roomy from the start, leather shoes are suppose to fit tight at the beginning, so they stretch to a perfect fit. For the custom I would say keep trying with their customer service and see what can be done.

NickNoHeart

If anyone ends up looking to offload a pair of US 13 size they don’t like, hit the PMs
