I walked into a dealership trying to secure a loan for one in may of 2020....wound up costing like $25,000 which i just couldn't afford, so i downgraded to a blue 1994 Toyota MR2 GT-S over at Japanese Classics in Richmond VA with 103k miles for $13,500 becuz its just what i could afford at the time.
I still wish id gotten the ft86 but can't win em all i guess. The MR2 is still going strong though, 3s-gte/e153 are underrated but they're still good enough to work with.
And I really like the shade of blue, its similar to the mr2 i went with.
If it makes you feel any better, I own cars with a 3S-GTE (Rev 3 but close enough to your Rev 2) and an FA24D (close enough to an FA20, but better), and the 3S is a way better engine. It's not even close. I also prefer the E154F to the TL70/AZ6 in a lot of ways, but I'm not sure how that compares to an MR2 E153.
Ima keep it real with you leave it stock as possible for a while so you can learn how its supposed to drive and then start doing stuff to it logically. These cars are super fun and you should learn its habits before you start tweaking it
100%. When I first started saving I was already planning the mods but after actually owning it and driving it around, I see no reason to change a single thing on this car
It’s super fun stock. Personally I plan to get an exhaust that’s a tad louder and has a better tone, and get some wheels. Other than that I don’t think I’ll be doing a whole lot
Keep it stock relatively (wheels tires, coilover) but make sure everything you get is quality. If you want coilovers, don't spend 500 on some dinky pair that will make the car worse. Get tein flex z, blitz, kw, fortune auto 500, just do you research and get quality for your build purpose. Have fun, don't take others too serious, oil every 3 to 4k miles. And I hope this doesn't spark debate, but the motor likes to run how and with no oil cooler, if you like to push the car a lot, I use 5w30 for better lubrication. I do tail of the dragon twice a year with no oil cooler and I've have no overheating issues with 5w30.
hell yeah. make sure you change the oil on time and use good stuff. keep it maintained and it will do you good. don't put stupid shit on your car
No stupid shit shall be in put on it 🫡
