On-camera jitters? Some kids just fell apart when the eyes of Chicago (and any other cable viewer in the country that got WGN) were on them. Cut them some slack
“You just had your picture taken with a Polaroid Instant Camera so you can have a photogirrafic pimento of your appearance on the Grand Prize Game!!!!”
My neighbor was Ringmaster Ned, and on Halloween we got Full Size Bun Bars. Loved the maple ones. I'm sure he got them for free. I am surprised to learn that they do still exist.
My third grade class went to Bozo's Circus. My teacher had apparently been on a waiting list for five years for tickets.
(edit... JEEZ! That was **50** years ago!)
Any time I see a photo of the grand prize game, I recall seeing a kid cheat the game and become angry. This little prick, used his hands to balance himself next to the buckets to make the shots easier. When Bozo called him out, the kid exclaimed that his toes were still behind the line. For some reason Bozo let this little shit heels “technicality” slide. This kid ends up making all the buckets and winning the grand prize. Still chaps my ass, 35 years later.
I was actually on the show and did the buckets. My parents owned a record store while I was growing up and someone who worked on the show or at WGN or something shopped there so my dad was able to get us tickets. I just so happened to be selected for the buckets (I’m guessing it was a little rigged in my favor since my dad knew a guy but I had no idea at the time of course). I didn’t make it far, probably only two buckets in but I was still happy to do it. There is a VHS recording of that episode somewhere at my mom’s I’m sure.
I’m a generation behind on this one. But,it does explain my mother’s fear of real clowns. She has offset that fear over the years by buying porcelain clowns. Guess she feels that she has their souls now or something…idk. 😁

I was always pissed at the kid that couldn't hit the first bucket

It's like Legends of the Hidden Temple and that stupid segmented monkey statue that those kids would always fuck up royally eating all their time
It literally stumped everyone
Those kinds of kids are part of why I preferred Homie The Clown to Bozo. Homie didn't play that.
Damn Mike.
Bozo dubbed over, he’s doing the dub.
It’s what Bozo wanted to say.
It's SO funny. Have you seen it?
It says it was uploaded last night.
I was one of these kids, Bozo did an on-site show up at Six Flags when I was little and I got to come up and do the buckets and meet Bozo and Cookie!
You’ve unlocked a core memory.
Wait, what game is that from?
It was the Bozo the Clown show
No, I mean that quote
Inside Out, Pixar movie
Thanks
The movie Inside Out
Oh alr
https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/a-core-memory i dont know why it says tiktok made it popular. internet in general made it popular imo
It's not from anything, it's a real psychology term
Seriously? Damn, psychology is weird.
“You just had your picture taken with a Polaroid Instant Camera so you can have a photogirrafic pimento of your appearance on the Grand Prize Game!!!!”
pimento? memento?
Like finding dory!
I enjoyed bozo. I'll never forget the crisp 100 dollar bill either.
And that like what late 80s early 90s hundred bill to that was a good bit of money
It's nearly impossible when seeing a 100 dollar bill to not say, "A brand new crisp 100 dollar bill!"
RIP Bozo
Cooky 🤡
Did she win a 6-pack of Orange Crush or the giant Tootsie Roll?
Was picked by the magic arrows to play this game when I was 6 years old. Got to bucket #4. That was way back in the 1960s.
How cool. You missed out on the Schwinn Bicycle, but do you remember what you won?
Some of it. A case of Bun candy bars, 100 tickets to Adventureland and an inflatable Yogi Berra catcher with plastic baseballs.
My neighbor was Ringmaster Ned, and on Halloween we got Full Size Bun Bars. Loved the maple ones. I'm sure he got them for free. I am surprised to learn that they do still exist.
The GRAND! PRIZE! GAAAAAAMMMMMEEE!
I remember a kid missing bucket #1. We scornfully mocked and ridiculed that child from home.
Got my skills from BOZO
My third grade class went to Bozo's Circus. My teacher had apparently been on a waiting list for five years for tickets. (edit... JEEZ! That was **50** years ago!)
So this is where the new IT movies drew from.
Amen!
Did bozos innocence survive the test of time ?
...and is scared of clowns.
Thank you for Bozo the clown from Boston, Mass! I used to watch Bozo every Saturday morning, yeah I'm old.
From Guaynabo, Puerto Rico when we first got cable this was one of the best shows ever, Bullwinkle and Rocky were my favorites
Do you remember Fractured Fairy Tales?
Vagely

I remember one episode, some kid just walked up to each bucket and dropped the ball in. I think they just went along with it and gave her the prize.

Bozo the childhood trauma clown. Play his games, clap nervously while hiding your terror.
Looking at the picture now, I can't help but think every kid was terrified of him. Dude was a scary mofo for a clown. Cookie kept that show together.
“I think this guy’s about to jack off”
420 forever!!!
I thought it was going to read 'this is why a whole generation are scared of clowns.'
I believe you’re thinking of Pennywise or perhaps John Wayne Gacy.
I was born in 75 and used to watch this show, I know I can't be the only one who has been afraid of clowns ever since
