I got so excited having to luck-pulled Philip Sinclair on the Limited Banner, Uptied-3 him real fast then tested him in Mirror Dungeon Normal, only for me to bench him after 1 failed run due to that 'Consume 35 SP' bullshit.
I don't have a good synergistic team yet as I'm still an early game player (middle of Canto4) so he really felt underwhelming when compared side-by-side to my W Ryoshu and Perquod Harpoon Heathcliff who don't need very specific setups to do their jobs well.
As a still-new player, I'm desperate for this buff to release.
Hong Lu focuses mostly in count, where Philipclair can just do 6 count with s2 for funi. You don't need that much burn count, so he ends up being redundant anyways.
I was going to write out a huge thing about this, but I also hated the game the first 2 times I tried it.
I ended up getting deep in Project Moon's other games, and I really forced myself to learn to play Limbus Company.
It is very easy, for like 99% of fights, win clash, win fight. You can just click Win Rate and Go at the start, for like the first 3 story chapters for sure.
You can also watch a youtube video or something that explains the combat. People like to overcomplicate a lot of things, but pretty much what matters is "coin power" > over everything else.
When you clash it's pretty much a coin toss dice roll that is based off your characters sanity (base 50% + sanity) so you can end up with 45 sanity max = 95% of hitting heads on a roll.
The game also lets you reset almost any fight if you're plagues with terrible RNG with no penalty, which is nice.
Pretty much every single character (identity for one of the 12 characters) is useful in 1 place or another.
The EGO system is pretty much like an attack skill you can use on demand. A ton of stuff is not explained well in the tutorial, or at all even.
I can keep going, but if you really want to play it (I strongly believe it's the best gacha game ever) just watch a youtube video from someone in the community.

Some things to remember about Limbus from a pure gacha standpoint.
You do NOT want to use the Gacha in this game unless it's right now during Walpurgis event, this is like the limited banner event they run. You can only get the current units and EGO from this banner. However, when the 4th one rolls around, you will be able to get these ones, so everything is free and farmable eventually.
2nd point. Everything is farmable eventually. Most people spend all their premium currency on stamina to farm and acquire all the units from the dispenser instead of using gacha.
I can keep going but I will stop.
TL;DR it's the most light spender/F2P gacha ever, and the tutorial really sucks watch a YT video, or just press "win rate" and go, and you'll figure it out eventually.

I love the style and theme of Limbus, I'm glad the game keeps doing well, but by the gods the combat is a clusterfuck that I bet turns a lotta people away from even passing the first chapter
Most of the times it feels complicated/complex for the sake of it, and the UI really doesn't help as it reminds me of all the bad choices FF14 1.0 ( and even ARR ) does in terms of UIX and clarity for the player
Add all this up, and it's a combat that simply is ...unfun... for a LOT of people and makes you feel like an idiot for no good reason :\

I imagine it's more because the only metric is platform popularity, which everyone patching on the same day because of a major patch is going to be a big factor of it.

you can put base yi sang and honglu and he will regen 16 SP every turn and let him clash so he wont blow up after
Damn shame Hong Lu has a burn id though so im in 2 minds about putting him as a support only id.
