Hoyo does this a lot.
* Makes live-action Genshin cooking show with high production value (good cinematography, realistic medieval Chinese set/props, etc.)
* Cooperates with the biology/botany department of a university to create a new breed of rose named Argenti, after the HSR character.
* Invests in nuclear fusion research.
* Invests in brain-computer interface technology research.
* Co-funds the construction of school buildings in impoverished areas.
* Hires *Olympic* skaters to do the dance of Icewind Suite (a boss from Genshin)
* Hires famous Chinese Opera singer as the singing voice of Yun Jin (character from Genshin).
* Hires ~~physicians~~ physicists to do narrations of HSR videos.
the list isn't even conclusive.
> Hires physicists to do narrations of HSR videos.
Not just any physicist but also a [nobel prize winner](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Didier_Queloz). Later they also invite another nobel winner [neuroscientist](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edvard_Moser) to talk about dream during Penacony launch.
I really love the Chinese cultural art videos they make. Anyway, here are some links to the things u/FlameDragoon933 mentioned because I think these extra stuff Hoyo makes are really awesome.

Also, not quite fantastic as the above but I really liked that HSR basically made a Space Monopoly web event for the anniversary with little fanservice tidbits about the characters.
I wouldn't say hiring an actual opera singer to sing the Yun Jin song is "useless". It adds authenticity to the cultural practice the game portrays. PlusI doubt any of the four voice actors for Yun Jin can actually sing as good as a professional
Adding to that, it skyrocketed interest in Chinese Opera among the Chinese youth when it is still considered an art form too old/out of style for them to enjoy (it is stereotyped as soap for your grandparent to watch).
They also hired the Japanese yoyo champion for the tricks in Senadina's **character impression** trailer for HI3rd. They didn't look up video of good tricks, they HIRED one for the trick.
This is literally the first time I am hearing about this.
It's crazy how not a single one of the larger Youtube CCs has ever covered this but instead of focuses on random stuff like Paimon talking too much.
Because while Hoyo didn't do it anonymously, they didn't publicize many of these stuffs either (the charity / research investment ones). (This actually made it more respectable IMO, they aren't trying to virtue-signal)
and if you bring up CCs, well... let's just say a lot of them are just dramabaiters, and praising the company that is already one of the top ones don't bring in the money or fit their agenda.
HI3 comics don’t really fall into “cool but unnecessary” category bc of hoyo’s decision to write in game story in a way which is impossible to understand without reading manga first.
it’s very much necessary (and cool imo), but only because of the way they chose to go about it.
The in-game Genius Invokation TCG in Genshin wasn't necessary and doesn't reward primogems but they spent time making a real tcg rather than just an ingame thing that's just referenced and is still being worked on and updated with new cards and characters. Hoyo really didn't need to make it but they did and it's awesome.
Oh yea i forgot about the player level rewards my bad. But it's nice that besides that you don't feel pressured to grind it cause while I do find it fun being forced to play would take the fun out of it.
Idk how but every time I see that Klee pfp I already know it's gonna be the worst take possible. (And yeah, I know there are other people with Klee pfp around here, but still lmao.)
18TRIP has :
- a glossary/dictionary in-game. It's for the terms used in the story instead of the game's mechanic.
- stamp collection that'll appear once you clear each story chapters, but you can't show it to other players.
- background image gallery in the shape of Japan map, background images that are used in the story and some history about the place depicted.
- music player (each main story chapter includes 2 original songs + theme song etc)
These are fairly cool and have nothing to do with the battle system.
If you meant not in-game at all, recently they celebrate the real Yokohama port anniversary in the form of offline + online voice actors talk show, which has nothing to do with the futuristic Yokohama in game but still cool of them.
genshin with that teleport waypoint they put on the Alps for Dragonspine’s anniversary😭😭😭

they had a whole lighting ceremony, a web event for players’ wishes to help light up the waypoint, events and performances on site etc here’s a [video](https://youtu.be/ABZyxPPgylU?si=zIZMk0bShUMeNzp4) from hoyo of everything that transpired

For those who aren't Project Moon fans, HamHamPangPang is Project Moon's sandwich shop, which lies right next door to their office, and sells PM merch and food based on their games.
Normally, this wouldn't *that* unusual, games have merch stores all the time and even cafes and the like from time to time, but at the time of this cafe opening, PM had put out *two* mildly successful cult indie games, and had like 30-ish employees in total, and was still relying at least in part on patron support.
To add, HamHamPangPang actually exists within the City (that is, the main stage of *Limbus Company* and other games), and is a widely successful brand in there. The brand makes cameos in all games (that were released after *Lobotomy Corporation* for obvious reasons) - in fact, the main character of *Library of Ruina* stumbles into The Library while trying to find a HamHamPangPang shop. ; in Limbus Company, one of the units can be seen having a HamHamPangPang bag

HG also released a lore book for Terra just because they can.
Like goddamn, it's so extensive that it's expected it will not get translated due to how many texts they are in the book.
It also gives us a lot extra details in certain stuff like the actual size of the landship etc. Very cool stuff.
Granblue's Valentine's Day and White Day cards! They have new art for practically *every* character in the game, including some NPCS, and you can get a lil photo of them and a letter from them (for a price of course but still!)
They're the only game I've seen do anything like that! Oh, and you even can send Valentines/White Day gifts to cats! Since cats can't have chocolate of course they instead make a donation to cat shelters!
They've rotated Dogu out for a few years now, still sad about that. Where else am I gonna get new pic of my favorite non-human summon!? At least Marva is still there...
Hypergryph also became [the chief sponsor for the World Team League](https://x.com/WTL_SC2/status/1640278121906835459), which is entirely separate from any of their games' stuff
Always makes me happy when I see HG sponsoring / funding stuff. They've funded [middle schools](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/1d1rt6k/hypergryph_donated_750k_yuan_with_another/), [universities](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/m8h1k2/hypergryph_donated_460k_dollars_to_zhejiang/), [earthquake relief](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/18naqcu/hypergryph_donated_2m_yuan_in_cash_and_25m_yuan/) (Yostar [donated as well](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/18nioq6/hypergryph_isnt_the_only_one_donating_as_yostar/)), [books for remote areas / disabled groups](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/12zevx6/hg_donated_6_million_cny_around_900k_usd_worth/) etc. I don't know how much it actually helps in the long run, but the fact they do this out of goodwill speaks a lot to their integrity.
Edit: They also [paid off PRTS Wiki's debt.](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/15iknpe/hypergryphskland_helped_prts_wiki_pay_off_all_its/)
Prolly when Cygames becomes one of the sponsors for Juventus, which is a top Italian soccer club, because the announcement was kinda out of the blue + kinda random, lol.
True that. The long list of web events have probably given me more enjoyment than some Steam games.
They're just easy fun and you get rewards for playing a Hoyoverse advertisement, no strings attached.
The most useless and coolest thing, no competition, is Princess connect releasing a [auto-chess game](https://youtu.be/rk_DPKoosCs?si=qNMJ_NyarA16yNSp) only available during april fools, and IIRC it wasn't even released this year. It's not just about how much money they spent but how much time they invested for this.
Priconne is 2d game, and the fact alot of characters got their high quality 3d chibi is insane, they better make use of that. Like bruh Blue Archive's 3d chibi isn't even near to that they're just flexing at this point.
Not just that it's quite well thought, they use hexagonal board like tft and alot of simmilarities to ui with underlords plust the guidebook. The 3 item per character(tft) but simplicity no item combination or such(underlord),and some sort of PVE(underlord). They have like the base line to make the best auto-chess in the market if they focused to it.
AISNO made a 15-min. documentary with a Chinese professor about the mythological sources behind Path to Nowhere's Ode to Sun event. I love this kind of stuff!

Can't believe no one mentioned this yet. Cygames created their own animation studio from nothing, I cannot state how impressive that is for an industry built on relationships. Now they are making some of the best looking anime today.
I highly recommend reading this article: [https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2023/06/02/the-history-of-cygames-pictures-and-uma-musume-road-to-the-tops-fierce-animation/](https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2023/06/02/the-history-of-cygames-pictures-and-uma-musume-road-to-the-tops-fierce-animation/)
Hoyo do go above and beyond in a lot of ways but that’s probably to be expected from some of the most profitable game devs in the world. But out of everything they do, the one that takes the crown is the fact that the Genshin OST is up to over 1000 tracks, and they’re all so good. Not a single track I would skip on the playlist
Genshin BGM/OST is like science x psychology. You hear it and you consume it passively while playing, then at one point you can transport yourself into the place and even see where you are just from listening to the music.
azur lane x Yamaha and IRF
they built some of the skin motorcycles.
and they raced an essex bike.
bonus shinano, baltimore, and prinz eugen iirc race queen cosplay on the scene.
theres also bunch of other collabs like the onsen and kimono
Ensemble stars is an idol gacha game, so releasing merch, albums, concerts, anime, etc is pretty normal.
Opening a cafe based on in game location is still common.
Releasing a fitness app with the idols as instructors after teasing it during April Fools event, probably the most obnoxious things they ever done.
I like how Enstars made _their own anime series (around 13 mins per episode)_ that's available for free on youtube, although it's in 3D.
It adapts some of the story in the first enstars game (pre-rhythm game) that's not explained very clearly in the anime and even adding subtitle to it too.
arknights making fake ads on their cn celebration streams based on the game's setting
uma musume collaborating with boss coffee brand and making t-shirts with the characters' motif, and giving those t-shirts to the respective seiyuus
I think part of it is that they ‘can’t’ reinvest all that money directly to the game. Hoyo, as shown in other posts here, makes tens of millions a month, and there’s only so much you can throw at a game dev team until there’s no reasonable room for expansion. So they do other stuff like web events, concerts, whatever fun pr project they feel like.
Wanna highlight Genshin’s ingame TCG, which has been receiving extremely regular support, balance patches, official tournaments, etc etc, and is completely not monetized. At this point, it’s one of the main things that gets me to go back to Genshin after prolonged absences and somehow I think they know that.
I remember when Inazuma debuted, the way the samurai sheath their swords were wrong and not many people noticed, but then it was fixed fairly quicky and I think only JP players noticed it. I think it was cool.
Here's the post about it:

Hypergryph did not do any of their music. They hire another separated studio to do it. That’s why they do not own some of the copyright of their own music
Hoyo bred a new breed of rose to promote a single character (or at least financed the botany) and I still think that's really cool
They also funded space rocket https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Memepact/s/0gompwsTfx
And fusion research. Not even a small amount too. https://www.gamesindustry.biz/mihoyo-invests-usd65m-in-nuclear-fusion-technology
Honkai reactor when?
Get off the internet Sirin
Free my girl Sirin she ain't do nothing wrong!
Lies, she didn’t step on me when I was right there on the floor. Damn that Sirin…
Would be funny if that research money end up making nuclear fusion reactor become practical. Tech Otaku really save the world (mostly).
Dawei on his way to become real world Welt
Hoyo does this a lot. * Makes live-action Genshin cooking show with high production value (good cinematography, realistic medieval Chinese set/props, etc.) * Cooperates with the biology/botany department of a university to create a new breed of rose named Argenti, after the HSR character. * Invests in nuclear fusion research. * Invests in brain-computer interface technology research. * Co-funds the construction of school buildings in impoverished areas. * Hires *Olympic* skaters to do the dance of Icewind Suite (a boss from Genshin) * Hires famous Chinese Opera singer as the singing voice of Yun Jin (character from Genshin). * Hires ~~physicians~~ physicists to do narrations of HSR videos. the list isn't even conclusive.

Don't forget the HSR players base who love Anventure adopted a peacock and the rock price surged in China
To add to that list: Had a traditional Chinese goldsmith make a miniature copy of the Jade Chamber.
Sorry for nitpicking but I think you mean physicists, not physicians.
And not to under sell it... The guy is Didier Queloz, a Swiss astrophysicist with a Nobel Peace Prize in Physics.
LMFAO you're right, thanks for the correction, English isn't my first language
They had that collab with that Chinese Museum as well. And they made a lot of documentaries about traditional arts.
Idk how or why, but at first i read the nuclear fusion wrong and read it as nuclear bomb research
Oh, I agree. I just put it in the list in the sense of, they didn't really *need* to do it but still went the extra mile.
They also hired the Japanese yoyo champion for the tricks in Senadina's **character impression** trailer for HI3rd. They didn't look up video of good tricks, they HIRED one for the trick.

Easy virtue signaling for a CC to make a video about it
Why would they care about this? All that matters is the game itself.
You're right, they only care about spreading misinformation about the game.
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Hoyoverse had a man in the UN or something.
[удалено]
If I may nitpick a bit, she's not an opera singer, she's mostly known (to my knowledge) for her role in a musical about Romeo and Juliet.
Genshin had a comic pre-traveler, hi3 has few too.
HI3 comics don’t really fall into “cool but unnecessary” category bc of hoyo’s decision to write in game story in a way which is impossible to understand without reading manga first. it’s very much necessary (and cool imo), but only because of the way they chose to go about it.
They also hired a famous French opera singer (Cecilia Cara) to sing a song for Furina's story quest.
Why haven't I heard of half of this
The in-game Genius Invokation TCG in Genshin wasn't necessary and doesn't reward primogems but they spent time making a real tcg rather than just an ingame thing that's just referenced and is still being worked on and updated with new cards and characters. Hoyo really didn't need to make it but they did and it's awesome.
>doesn't reward primogems Well they did reward primogems but it's a one-time only thing
Oh yea i forgot about the player level rewards my bad. But it's nice that besides that you don't feel pressured to grind it cause while I do find it fun being forced to play would take the fun out of it.
Yeah, glad that they didn't include primogems in all battle modes events. I'm way too bad at card games lol
There's acheivements too
You remember the whole ass album they released for Robin? Pepperidge farms remember.
Yeah thats not too long ago isn't it? 2.2 isn't even over yet.

They did recently hire an experience architect... And they just got a new lot in Shanghai recently... So....
Real life Penacont is called las Vegas?

I like when FGO made those April Fool Apps
It's sad how we aren't getting them for global. The later games have gotten pretty impressive apparently.
Didn't we get poker from the most recent one?
He is talking about the jp ones which are full blown Google play games the most recent one was a football one with oberon being Roberto from tsubasa
Concert's
And even a worldwide tour on top of it! My Genshin concert ticket is one of my favorite memorabilia. Certainly the most beautiful.
I find concerts not useless. In fact, they're a testament on how good their music team are and how much they are appreciated by the fans.
Mihoyo had a collab with an ice skater to promote durandal battlesuit (Dea Anchora) and also collab with a racecar team.

I was quite shocked when I saw cygames on Juventus shirt
AISNO made a 15-min. documentary with a Chinese professor about the mythological sources behind Path to Nowhere's Ode to Sun event. I love this kind of stuff! Can't believe no one mentioned this yet. Cygames created their own animation studio from nothing, I cannot state how impressive that is for an industry built on relationships. Now they are making some of the best looking anime today. I highly recommend reading this article: [https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2023/06/02/the-history-of-cygames-pictures-and-uma-musume-road-to-the-tops-fierce-animation/](https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2023/06/02/the-history-of-cygames-pictures-and-uma-musume-road-to-the-tops-fierce-animation/)
Music is not "useless but really cool". It is a requirement ...
Depends on if it makes it into the actual game
Hoyo do go above and beyond in a lot of ways but that’s probably to be expected from some of the most profitable game devs in the world. But out of everything they do, the one that takes the crown is the fact that the Genshin OST is up to over 1000 tracks, and they’re all so good. Not a single track I would skip on the playlist
Well mihoyo is a music company with side skit of making games to fund their music projects. 🎉
Genshin BGM/OST is like science x psychology. You hear it and you consume it passively while playing, then at one point you can transport yourself into the place and even see where you are just from listening to the music.
azur lane x Yamaha and IRF they built some of the skin motorcycles. and they raced an essex bike. bonus shinano, baltimore, and prinz eugen iirc race queen cosplay on the scene. theres also bunch of other collabs like the onsen and kimono
It adapts some of the story in the first enstars game (pre-rhythm game) that's not explained very clearly in the anime and even adding subtitle to it too.
arknights making fake ads on their cn celebration streams based on the game's setting uma musume collaborating with boss coffee brand and making t-shirts with the characters' motif, and giving those t-shirts to the respective seiyuus
They reinvest into making more games along all of that.
HI3 literally giving us free merchandise such as art book to their players
Hoyo bred a new rose in the name of Argenti to promote him.

nah, we still stuck on the website
Man.I wish i was intelligent enough to find something but am dumb.
Just commenting to agree Hoyo does some insane things for their games. Hoyofair and genshin concert always something to look forward to.
Cygames achieved the world record of "Most people locally playing an online trading card game simultaneously" in RAGE Shadowverse 2020.
Here's the post about it: [Attention to detail: in the new update, Mihoyo changes how civilian wear their Katana to be more historically accurate. : r/Genshin\_Impact (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/Genshin_Impact/comments/q7vggh/attention_to_detail_in_the_new_update_mihoyo/) the original Japanese post: [Amamin Don on X: "In the Genshin Impact update, the lightning sword was silently revised upward, and I was impressed by the commitment, so let me tell you about it!!! I don't think you would make such a modest correction without a lot of Japan respect...... Hypergryph did not do any of their music. They hire another separated studio to do it. That’s why they do not own some of the copyright of their own music
