Great news! You can cultivate a wholesome internet biosphere yourself. Cut yourself off from people that consistently demonstrate toxicity, even if it's in that insidious form, "I'm actually not toxic, I'm just dishing out what they dealt to me first" (read: "They started it!", actual five-year-old nonsense). Join communities that build and grow, leave those that tear down and destroy. The internet is not omnipresent. You choose to click every link, you choose to visit every site, watch every video, read every comment, write every reply. Be the change for yourself <3
It was a group known as Dead Ale Wives. Not sure if Roiland was part of it, but it was a joke audio track that Summoner just used for a gag but using some of their characters (and a Red Faction guard cuz both are THQ titles) back when it launched in 2000 or 2001.
Yeah It was produced in 1996 by the Dead Alewives and comes from an album of sketches titled Take Down the Grand Master. members were Dan Harmon, Rob Schrab, Peter Alberts and Mondy Carter.
Every few years I get high and do an entire Caustic Caverns run. That whole zone is such a unique and well designed adventure. And it’s totally optional to the main story which was the biggest surprise for me! Best zone in the whole series!
Borderland's gameplay is at its best when you can explore freely, without much handholding from a quests. Caustic Caverns was always one of the better example of this.
Clearing outpost, looking for chests, trying to figure of the various secrets hidden in the area...that stuff is fun.
My favorite moments in BL2 were often trying to get the Goliaths leveled up. My friends and I once had 2 godlike goliaths going at it and we were making bets with equipment on which one would be victorious 😂
Yes, that one made my inner pyro giggle. Bouncy pixelated flames everywhere, like some newgrounds flash video. It's almost as good as the Hellfire from the first game.
Find a contact-detonating Longbow Quasar. Yoinks in most enemies across a considerable distance, staggers them when doing so, does a large amount of shock damage over time, then explodes in shock damage. Chain it between phaselocks for lots of elemental DOT and control. Contact Longbow is especially important; the longbow aspect puts it exactly where and when you want, and the 0-second fuse time means the second it hits it goes off giving no time for mobs to escape.
Good for you dude! Finding new hidden gems in games you've played alot is super joyful. I've got the same thing going on with BioShock and Skyrim. Always something new tucked away somewhere.
basically an enemy named Mr. Bubbles, one of the heavy anchor guys made up to look like a Big Daddy, and i think there might be one more enemy with them that is also an easter egg. it's on the way up that lighthouse iirc
Ooh I remember that! Thanks for the reminder! Maybe I should play it again. I keep on having the issue where I install, play for 5 seconds and then realise thats all I needed to remember. Then uninstall.
That's surprising. Blockhead is honestly one of my favorite shotguns in the game. If you end up wanting to farm it, you're looking for a Gentle one so you get more projectiles.
Right? If you are not posting in the game’s Reddit, you think everyone is going to know what ur talking about? Is it that hard to just spell it out? SMH
Motherfuckers don't want to be criticized for not posting the game name and proceeds to calm the game by two letters. Holy fick, sometimes people are just plain stupid.
Super interesting to see how different people find video game secrets, I have a vivid memory of me and a buddy watching a YouTube video of this and sitting down to find it on my Xbox 360 probably around 2013.
Don’t forget that there are still new glitches being found for this game lmao, the newest one I think is the deliverance and the badaboom glitch. It’s one of the best games for me tbh.
Its a nice easter egg, i always check it one my playthroughs, and have the skins for all characters by now, but i have yet to get the sniper from the big creeper. Not once have i ever seen it drop.
First hidden thing in a game I ever found by myself. Had no idea what it was. Got a flak shotgun that I used for a very long time. Got good at ricochet kills. Good times.
I have a fond memory of finding this when my wife and I were still dating. She was still asleep next to me so I was being quiet but she was awoken because she heard me tapping the melee button to break the blocks.
3s gameplay is great and better than 2 but so many of the characters are completely insufferable. They ruined Reece from how he was in Tales from the Borderlands. There's like 2 actually serious moments in the entire game, just exhausting to play. In contrast 2 was mostly serious(ish) while Handsome Jack provided a lot of the comic relief with his radio calls.
Didn't really have to, this secret was all over the internet days after release. It is kind of surprising that a major fan of borderlands 2 hasn't stumbled upon it at some point just in regular browsing. Especially someone who posts in the gaming subreddit.
For real, I played the game only once and found this "secret". It's not even a secret cause it's just a cave you can clearly find if you're bothering to explore the level it's on. But OP hasn't found this after multiple playthroughs? This is fake.
I mean, I feel like he's being a little aggressive about it, but he kinda has a point. Like, once you've played it multiple times it feels like it would be a shame to leave things in the game as something you just never knew existed. It's like fighting The End in MGS3, the vast majority of people would never know that if you literally leave the game mid battle for a week the dude would die of old age.
They drop Minecraft heads and skins for all the classes and a sniper that shoots Minecraft arrows and a shotgun that shoots Minecraft blocks.
The shotgun, "The Blockhead" is really good it shoots Minecraft fires.
It deals grenade splash damage so is amazing on Axton
It will be interesting to see what references hold up in 29 years. Like the "attack the darkness" gag on BL2
...or the double rainbow.
I miss the wholesome Internet.
I think people forget the wild west that the early internet was.
To me, early internet was angel fire and ask jeeves… I feel old.
Netscape Navigator, 28.8kpbs dial up, geo cities hosted chat rooms. That shit was GAS
Lycos, 56.6, and yeah, Netscape here. Plus a new AOL trial disc every other day.
9600k CompuServe, prodigy, promenade on dos/win3.1 here (turns to dust). My pilot dad convinced my mom we needed online services to book flights on easysabre lol.
Yeah, Netscape and AOL for me
I remember angelfire, geocities and myspace
wait are we calling double rainbow era internet the early internet
No, the internet before double rainbow was the wild west
Shh you're letting out age show
I made you a cookie but I eated it.
A lot of people online today never even got to see it. 😢
time to make rotten resurface
Tubgirl, goatse, lemon party....

Well, wholesome *YouTube* to be more specific. Double Rainbow, Epic Meal Time, AskANinja. Pre-monetization Internet.
You mean the YouTube that used to host septic tank fetish videos?
Wholesome YouTube absolutely still exists, you just gotta go find it.
Wholesome?
Wholesome by modern standards.
*Goatse has entered the chat*
You had to seek that stuff out though. It wasn't what most people were doing online. Now everything is rage bait and people screaming at each other.
Nah, people would set your homepage to goatse dot sx, you couldn't avoid it.
It was dot cx, not dot sx.
That entire dialogue is just “haha drugs”
To be fair here, exactly zero of BL2's jokes are remotely funny a second time around.
IMO a solid half of them are still funny
I still giggle like the idiot child I am whenever I hear Handsome Jack say “Butt Stallion says hi”
Yes I agree, the entire Butt Stallion dialogue is the funniest shiet
It's still around just go to the right places
"I used to be a vault hunter like you, till I took a bullet to the knee!"
Attack the Darkness was honestly old for when it was referenced there. XD
WHERE ARE THE CHEETOS!?
IF THERE'S ANY GIRLS THERE, I WANNA DOOOOO THEMMMMMM
I HAVE AN OGRE SLAYING KNIFE!!
CAN I HAVE A MOUNTAIN DEW!?
I played BL2 and never put that together, I forgot all about Dead Alewives. That was like... 90's right?!
I remember seeing it for the first time myself in 2000 on the summoner ps2 disc so im guessing its 90s.
For those unaware... [it was a viral\(-ish?\) promo video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zng5kRle4FA) for the video game Summoner on PS2.
I thought it was way earlier than that. And I feel like Justin Roiland was on of them
It was a group known as Dead Ale Wives. Not sure if Roiland was part of it, but it was a joke audio track that Summoner just used for a gag but using some of their characters (and a Red Faction guard cuz both are THQ titles) back when it launched in 2000 or 2001.
I had to ask a friend what the fuck I was looking at when I found that at launch.
That meme is still fresh 25 years after. Unless Alzheimer kick in by 2050, it should hold up!
Casting magic missile at the darkness D&D sketch is 28 years old, that makes me feel so old
I thought I was from the 90's myself as an audio clip
Yeah It was produced in 1996 by the Dead Alewives and comes from an album of sketches titled Take Down the Grand Master. members were Dan Harmon, Rob Schrab, Peter Alberts and Mondy Carter.
I remember being so stoked to see this ingame lmao. Also caustic caverns music rocks and is one of the best in the game (you can't change my mind)
Every few years I get high and do an entire Caustic Caverns run. That whole zone is such a unique and well designed adventure. And it’s totally optional to the main story which was the biggest surprise for me! Best zone in the whole series!
I agree 100% especially because of its optionality like you said! A hidden gem of an area
Wait, the caverns are optional?
Yep, no story missions there, just secondary ones.
I thought they were a necessary part of every run. I spend at least a week running around them exploring when I get there on New Runs
Trying to get the biggest varkid ever to spawn was a fun time. I miss it
Only got super badass varkids on this run :( I did got 5 tubby varkids though!
5 tubbies though!
Now the next big question is have you made it to the dark souls island in caustic caverns.
I really like the wildlife exploitation preserve ambient music
Nice! I also love the bandit slaughter track.
There also was a Badass Creeper further in. lol
They can drop minecraft style heads and skins for all the characters as well. Kind of annoying to farm but nice to know.
Don’t forget the unique blockhead shotgun and legendary longbow sniper
I love the blockhead
Yes, that one made my inner pyro giggle. Bouncy pixelated flames everywhere, like some newgrounds flash video. It's almost as good as the Hellfire from the first game.
I never knew they had specific legendaries they could drop. Do you remember what those did?
The blockhead shoots a 3x3 spread (similar to a crafting table) of Minecraft fire projectiles The Longbow shoots a minecraft arrow
I‘ve spent more time than I‘d like to admit like 10 years ago farming that Easter Egg to get all skins, the Legendary and the Unique
cool. have you ever done the lord of the rings journey?
I remember doing that repeatedly before they fixed it for those Eridian infused purple weapons that were really strong.
The game is Borderlands 2 (for those who hate acronyms as much as I do)
Just wanted to say, you're not alone in having replayed the game a ridiculous amount of times. 🤣
Based Maya player
Chaining her ability with pulls and dots and all the good stuff is pure dopamine for me <3

There is also a Dark Souls Easter Egg in this map, it's in a island far away in the acid
Oh cool! I’ll look for it on my next run!
It's where you fight Blue. You have to run through the acid pool out to a far island. There you will find a bonfire and a ghost
I know I missed this on my first and maybe second playthrough. Didn't know about it until I watched a video about it.
Seeing this Easter egg on YouTube, along with seeing the infinity pistol farm, is what made me buy this game in the first place
Good for you dude! Finding new hidden gems in games you've played alot is super joyful. I've got the same thing going on with BioShock and Skyrim. Always something new tucked away somewhere.
dont know if you know, there's also a Bioshock easter egg in the pirate dlc!
It's been a long while since I've played that game. But I can't imagine I've skipped it. What's the easter egg about?
basically an enemy named Mr.

Tf is BL2?
Borderlands 2. Great game!
Right? If you are not posting in the game’s Reddit, you think everyone is going to know what ur talking about? Is it that hard to just spell it out? SMH
Tf is SMH?
Tf is Tf?
Titanfall Fortress.
Shaking my hips, you move your ass like Shakira so you express you don't lie, like her hips
This is by far the most under rated comment I have seen today...IMHO
[Borderlands 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/49520/Borderlands_2/)
It's a video game like WoW, LoL, DOTA, DS, DS2, DS3, RDR2, GTA5, HL, HL2, and FTL.
Motherfuckers don't want to be criticized for not posting the game name and proceeds to calm the game by two letters. Holy fick, sometimes people are just plain stupid.
Bruh it took me years to finish BL2 but I would always go to that Easter egg with my mates during the 360 days xD
Whaaat. I don’t think I’ve seen that! My wife and I will have to go here again!
What in the HEAVENS
IIRC, he drops a special gear too
Caustic caverns was such a nightmare to navigate
Super interesting to see how different people find video game secrets, I have a vivid memory of me and a buddy watching a YouTube video of this and sitting down to find it on my Xbox 360 probably around 2013.
Don’t forget that there are still new glitches being found for this game lmao, the newest one I think is the deliverance and the badaboom glitch. It’s one of the best games for me tbh.
i remember the hyperion sniper i got from there carried me through most of the rest of BL2 lol
Its a nice easter egg, i always check it one my playthroughs, and have the skins for all characters by now, but i have yet to get the sniper from the big creeper. Not once have i ever seen it drop.
Amazing game
Keep grinding it. You'll get a special rocket launcher
Man I forget how good borderlands looks all this time later. Good art style always trumps realistic graphics.
Excuse me?!?!?!?!? Where the hell is this? I have well over 1000 hours in through several playthroughs and have never found this!!
Downvote because you didn't put the name of the game in the title. Shame.
Borderlands TPS has a super Mario Easter egg, make sure to check that one out if you haven't seen it yet
I found that! Like 5th playthrough. So much fun
I prefer the dark souls reference in caustic caverns but this was still great
I played the game when it first came out and it was impossible not to have heard about this. Are you a newerish sort of player? I find that wild!
I tend to avoid any and all media outlets regarding said games to avoid spoilers :) I started playing this the moment it hit steam lol
Which BL is considered the best?
2 is consistently voted best
3 is good and the space one is okay, but 2 is the best one
3s gameplay is great and better than 2 but so many of the characters are completely insufferable. They ruined Reece from how he was in Tales from the Borderlands. There's like 2 actually serious moments in the entire game, just exhausting to play. In contrast 2 was mostly serious(ish) while Handsome Jack provided a lot of the comic relief with his radio calls.
BL2 is easily one of the best games ever made.
i thought it was a shitpost😭😭 would've been a quality one
Cue Technoblade screaming.
Dang, I've only played the third one, maybe I should get the second one... That's really cool, I want to see that Easter egg in person!
It was pretty well known when the game came out
I had to stop playing this game, the writing is just so annoying and cringe =/ the bonerfarts joke is the one that finally did me in
You can farm for the block head and the longbow and skins
Every time i started again in BL2 i looted everything here lmao, maybe its time to do another replay
Really? Also, there is no such thing as too much Borderlands 2
This and the Dark Souls Easter eggs blew my mind back when Borderlands 2 was new.
Pro tip get the bane best gun in the game you'll love it
I wonder if Microsoft would be willing to approve of these kind of easter eggs within mature games nowadays
minecraft reference
Really? Probably the top result if you searched for Broderlands easter eggs.
Most people don’t search “borderlands Easter eggs”
But do they search for "Broderlands easter eggs" ?
Didn't really have to, this secret was all over the internet days after release. It is kind of surprising that a major fan of borderlands 2 hasn't stumbled upon it at some point just in regular browsing. Especially someone who posts in the gaming subreddit.

I would think an enthusiast like OP that played the game many times would lol.
I wouldn’t. I’ve played metal gear solid 2 to completion probably 15 times and I’ve never once looked up Easter eggs.
You're missing out lol. Don't know why you wouldn't do a little research on your favorite games to learn more about them.
Okay
I mean, I feel like he's being a little aggressive about it, but he kinda has a point. Like, once you've played it multiple times it feels like it would be a shame to leave things in the game as something you just never knew existed. It's like fighting The End in MGS3, the vast majority of people would never know that if you literally leave the game mid battle for a week the dude would die of old age.
How lol I thought everyone knew this day one
BL2 is good, but if you want a real good time check out AZ3 or even DU for that matter.
AZ3? DU?
