Leaf cutter bees. They're not eating, just harvesting for nesting material & they don't do enough damage to harm the plant. Sharing is caring

I didn't even know there was such a thing. I had heard of leaf cutter ants before, but never bees. I guess if they aren't harming the plant, they are welcome to do their thing. Enjoy the new home little bee friends!

That's so sweet! They're very, very good pollinators so they'll be returning the favor!

Yeah, one leaf cutter/ miner bee can pollinate an entire orchard. People find their nests and save the cocoons in a dry location so the colony hatches after Winter.

Don't worry, I only found out about them last year when they munched a bunch of our rose leaves. I freaked out until I learned what they're doing.

Apis_Proboscis

They also love roses.....like really really love roses. Didn't know they liked blueberry bushes...TIL. Api

I always see the cuts on my roses & the only thing that makes me sad is that I can't figure out what time they work! I'd love to observe them

Apis_Proboscis

They are most active from mid-morning to early afternoon. Just FYI. June, July, beginning of August. Cheers! Api

Amazing! Thank you!

Leaf cutting bees

Tumorhead

Ya leafcutter bees. They nest in crevasses and holes and line them with leaves. Keep an eye out for them carrying pieces around, its SO cute. I have one working on a nest in my wooden picnic table.

Leaf cutters, they are garden bros!

That looks very different to my blueberry. Are their big and small leaf varieties?

Tame_Gregala

You know why they have them internet? Answer him!
