"[T]hat scene felt particularly forced and surreal, like a bad parody of the right-wing “this is the future liberals want” memes: A woman president hawking pharmaceuticals to her bisexual son beneath a portrait of Harriet Tubman." Jesus you dumb 🚬s, why are we *broadcasting* our secret agenda?

"This dumb romcom movie is a dumb romcom"

Copykill

They do understand that they are not the target audience here, do they?

uj: I think it's so interesting how distinct gay media for women is from gay media for men. They're two worlds apart. Do you know any other big books in this demographic? All I can think of is Heartstopper and the entire genre of yaoi.

methodwriter85

You tend to see much more crying and sentimental romance in the yaoi stuff. For the gay men for gay men media, there's usually a touch of irony and an undercurrent of horniness. Plus a lot of pop culture references.

HieronymusGoa

can someone summarise the movie for me? with /uj ^^ ?

fergiethefocus

uj/ Political correctness overload, tired tropes, but the son and the prince make a cute couple.

gaytechdadwithson

yes, but they are both pretty fugly. at least the “British” guy didn’t have fucked up teeth for once.

methodwriter85

I kind of have a thing for the Russian quirkiness of Nicholas Galitzine, though. He's a Brit but apparently distantly related to the ill-fated Russian royal family.

fergiethefocus

He's also half-Greek!

methodwriter85

His lips do things to me.

HieronymusGoa

i might skip a bit through it and see, thanks! :)
