I’m still fuming about Snyder gutting our new state filming tax incentives. We Just got the industry rolling but his friends weren’t involved so chopped it was from the state budget with no consideration for these business people because they were assumed to be left leaning due to working on films. Nice freedom they support nice.
Don’t worry, you aren’t missing out. Georgian here who’s studied our tax credit—film tax incentives are generally a huge waste of money in that they don’t bring in as much economic impact to a state as they cost (when comparing taxes being forgone for the tax credit vs. taxes collected due to filming economic activity).
In GA, you can be a company based in California with entirely out of state workers and still have your entire production work qualify for the credit as long as the work was performed in GA. Because you’re based in CA and don’t pay Georgia income taxes, you then sell the credits to Georgia taxpayers who reduce their own state income taxes.
It’s a highly effective system for generating filming, but the costs are ginormous (over $1 billion annually — about 3% of the entire state’s budget). And if too many people claim the credit at once, we could face a budget crisis. All because of the film tax credit.
It needs extreme reworking, but too many people are uninformed about just how overly generous it is to out of state companies. It’s almost a third rail down here to say anything negative about it.
I spent way too long trying to find my state, only to realize it took so long because the order was random AND I didn’t recognize my states logo (California). At least our flag is pretty good
>At least our flag is pretty good
That's the one with the two-headed bear right?
I kid, but I'm not from the US, so a lot of my knowledge about you comes from media. I was actually kind of surprised (and a bit disappointed) that the actual california flag just had a regular old bear on it with only one head.
From an artistic point of view (mine) Mississippi and New Jersey are the best. New Jersey has the best font
Of course New York is iconic, a little odd, but also safe
Why is there a question mark after Massachusetts lol?
I live in Colorado and I don't think I have ever once seen that logo. The two I've seen are these (there was a new logo a few years ago):
https://preview.redd.it/6tdnopi45w5d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6cb06ad128876c4702a40fa0b23d5ab1558fc8b
The logos in OPs post are actually the logos for each state’s Convention and Visitors Bureau, the marketing company responsible for driving tourism to the state.
Source: I work for a CVB
Then please explain Ohio’s? Because I do work for their tourism bureau and have still never seen that one before. The logo is actually from the Ohio Department Jobs and Family Services but that tagline is nothing I’ve ever heard of.
https://preview.redd.it/r26gh1tghx5d1.jpeg?width=1089&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b15cc0a32bca641b39541ba79129779bad5643bb
This is the tourism boards logo from their website.
Good catch. I apologize, looking further into it there are some logos that do not belong to the state's CVB, rather other organizations within the state. Looking at each state's CVB website I would say the majority of them on this list are the CVB logo, although many on this list are outdated.
Source: [https://www.detailorientedtraveler.com/50-state-visitors-bureaus-tourism-websites/](https://www.detailorientedtraveler.com/50-state-visitors-bureaus-tourism-websites/)
So not only is OP's list not in order, but they don't even have the correct logos? That's not even a semantics thing just straight up dumpster fire of a post.
Yeah, I was curious how recent OP’s graphic was. That is not the font nor the slogan Kansas Tourism uses any anymore. They’ve been using “To the Stars/Ad Astra” (Latin) for a few years now. They also use a bolder, taller font and were incorporating all of this into new license plate designs that received [some negative feedback](https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/28/us/kansas-license-plate-design-backlash/index.html) last year.
I miss our old carbon monoxide version lol
I’ve never once seen the “let’s talk” logo in my life before. Not sure where OP pulled that from it but I’m calling shenanigans.
I have never seen that design in my life. I’m not sure where it came from.
[This](https://seeklogo.com/images/V/visit-north-carolina-logo-BE49454D5A-seeklogo.com.png) is the logo on the official state tourism website.
Eek. That kinda looks like a youth sports team’s uniform logo.
It’s hard to be cool in a small space. I have always liked Utah’s slogan, though, if not the design: Life Elevated.
Lived in NC my whole life and very few towns and cities I've been to have such little character to them. It's like half the state lacks a solid identity, especially in the piedmont and western coastal plain. So, the logo is, imo, oddly fitting but for all the wrong reasons.
When I was in junior high (like 30+ years ago) I had to write a paper on Pakistan. On the cover page I wrote "PAKISTAN" but in the Metallica font, with like lightning bolts on both ends. I didn't get a passing grade but it was a sweet cover page
I grew up in the Kennesaw/Marietta area and it's always super weird whenever I see a spot from my childhood in a movie.
I think at least 2 movies shot scenes in my old high school.
No clue what that NC logo is, I think the creator made a mistake.
[This](https://seeklogo.com/images/V/visit-north-carolina-logo-BE49454D5A-seeklogo.com.png) is the official state tourism website logo.
Yes. In the mid-1970s, NYC was literally going bankrupt, the garbagemen were on strike, crime was through the roof, 800.000 people left the city in a decade,... even though technically this logo is for the state tourism board, essentially it was to promote and celebrate the city to avoid a full-scale collapse.
True but I hate it. My old boss claims he invented it. In reality he was just deputy mayor of NY when it was implemented and signed off on it. Same thing he does with his businesses now, takes personal credit for anything he has majority financial interest in. Anyways I’m biased.
You should build a giant water tower alongside a major interstate that has been making children giggle *looooong* before there were emojis referencing totally not gonad stuff.
Just moved to WA and I couldn't believe that was the official logo.
Turns out, it's not. This is the real [logo](https://www.visitusa.org.uk/memberassets/876/wa_logo_black%20500px.png) with this [variant](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcROLS8BHs_C8rGb9bvE-tKISXNjqgH2ggv86g&s).
As a Polish citizen I am not exposed to many US states logos, but Georgia is something I remember don't know from where.
However seeing both Dakota's I want to grow a mustache, wear a quirky shirt and drive Cabrio with my dog on the passenger seat.
State motto is different than the motto of the state's tourism board (or whatever it's called).
They've had Miel after Magnificent Mile for a while now.
Apparently it’s a simplifiedversion of “Virginia is for beach/mountain/history lovers” they originally used. It’s ironic too because the slogan was made a few years after Loving v Virginia which found a VA law banning interracial marriage unconstitutional.
It also kinda sounds like they're just inviting people to rent a hotel and bang in their state.
Aside from that, having been to Virginia several times, I was under the impression that Virginia is for somewhat fastidious and well-to-do conservative white people who speak with very slight southern accents and often purse their lips in disapproval.
I'm from VA and when I see the slogan I just think it feels like a backhanded Virginia vs Loving sentiment.
As for pursed lip conservatives - I grew up in the area of the state that had the Dupont and Mellon family, horse and winery country. You aren't terribly wrong. The first time someone looked UP their nose at me was when I climbed a tree at the massive estate of Jack Kent Cooke (owner of the Redskins) and was asked to get down. Yes, I was a drunk and wayward teen.
I stayed in the tree.
This graphic doesn’t do it justice. Typically it’s on a dark gray or black background and the colors just look gorgeous together.
https://preview.redd.it/ca05chjzky5d1.jpeg?width=612&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=12cca2e0e04d38eae9a47c0c93ec4a99848c150e
Mississippi is my favorite, then California. Massachusetts trademark icon and period looks like a question mark. I read it as ‘it’s all here?’. Also- I live in Massachusetts.
Underrated. I'm biased as a former Utah resident, but the letters are evocative of the landscape. I also love the signs at border crossings around the state, each one welcoming in visitors with a unique mural that incorporates the branding.
Why are so many not using capitalized starting letters? I remember this was a fad from like 2008 when I was in uni, so I'm guessing they are that old?
Edit: I love the Wyoming one, really stylish and unique.
In my entire life I have never seen that AZ logo. Born and raised here 30 years and I get around all over the state, I am the opposite of someone who stays at home.
Just sayin
To add to that: I have NO idea what that little image/colors on top are. Also never seen that before
Indiana’s is wrong, I can’t recall seeing that before, at least not any time recently. [This article](https://www.wfyi.org/news/articles/indiana-unveils-new-tourism-marketing-campaign-in-indiana) has a picture of the more recent logo
Alabama: Beer label
Arkansas: Bottled water label
Florida: retirement home sign
Mississippi: the coolest one easy, maybe some kind of BBQ or smoking company
Tennessee: steakhouse font
Virginia: looks like a charity company
Arizona: iced tea label
New Mexico: adventure video game label
Colorado: beer label
Idaho : cheap wine label
Montana: horseriding label
Georgia:
Kentucky: beer label
Louisiana: "you wouldn't steal a movie" ad label
North Carolina: minimalist Kombucha brand
South Carolina: retirement home font
West Virginia: clip art
Utah: college/varsity font
North Dakota: some lame ass adventure sport brand
I didn't realise how much I bit off here, gonna stop now, just gotta say, Mississippi and NY are awesome, the rest are a bit shit
Arkansas in my biased opinion, New Hampshire in my unbiased opinion. Honorable mentions to TX, HI, and SD. Georgia’s logo looks like it belongs to an early 2000’s media company, and while I don’t like it as a state logo it definitely deserves some credit. Also, what’s the deal NC? I feel like it would work better if they spent even a few more minutes in Microsoft Word.
[удалено]
Then there's Georgia. Looks like the logo for a morning breakfast TV production company.
Tbf it may have that connotation because it's been so heavily used in film and tv credits
Maaade in Georgiaaa!
I’m still fuming about Snyder gutting our new state filming tax incentives. My toddler is obsessed with the Made in Georgia bit lol. So much so I had to look it up on YouTube to keep showing him 😂
Ty I was wondering why it looked so familiar
Or a cheap motel chain
I won’t stand for you disrespecting our peaches like that.
Chef Mike
Came here to day this lol
The other half looks like they stole generic bottled water insignias and brute forced the state's name.
Except NY
You have just summarized the American experience
Lookin’ at you Montana.
Spot on!
Now now, Maryland is a cheap red wine.
What order are these in?
Random
I spent way too long trying to find my state, only to realize it took so long because the order was random AND I didn’t recognize my states logo (California). At least our flag is pretty good
>At least our flag is pretty good That's the one with the two-headed bear right? I kid, but I'm not from the US, so a lot of my knowledge about you comes from media. I was actually kind of surprised (and a bit disappointed) that the actual california flag just had a regular old bear on it with only one head.
Chaotic evil?
They started out trying to alphabetize it. "Alabama, Arkansas... ahh, fuck it. Florida..."
top left quadrant is the southern states, top right is midwest, bottom left is wild west, and bottom right is the cool guys
Have to say MISSISSIPPI looks pretty dope
those interlocking S's are so nice
It looks so perfect and symmetrical, despide it not being. Pure genius design
At least Mississippi has something
Another vote for Mississippi here
From an artistic point of view (mine) Mississippi and New Jersey are the best. New Jersey has the best font Of course New York is iconic, a little odd, but also safe Why is there a question mark after Massachusetts lol?
Massachusetts. We think we spelled it right?
The mountain rolling into a wave in New Jersey is also pretty smooth
I saw the same thing with Massachusetts at first, but it's a period with the circled "R" signifying registered trademark or whatever it means.
Glad I'm not the only who thought that. It's all here?
I live in Colorado and I don't think I have ever once seen that logo. The two I've seen are these (there was a new logo a few years ago): https://preview.redd.it/6tdnopi45w5d1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6cb06ad128876c4702a40fa0b23d5ab1558fc8b

Yup and thank you. They just changed it back to that old classic in 2023 after years of *Ohio. Find it Here.*
Good catch. I apologize, looking further into it there are some logos that do not belong to the state's CVB, rather other organizations within the state. Yes I thought it was “find it here”
That would explain Louisiana’s hilariously boring logo. The one state that arguably has some of the richest culture
I miss our old carbon monoxide version lol I’ve never once seen the “let’s talk” logo in my life before. Not sure where OP pulled that from it but I’m calling shenanigans.
What ever the “let’s talk” logo is, is lame. Speaks nothing of Colorado.
That's because it's not the official logo. OP sits upon a throne of lies.
Colorado is bisexual?
Same. Also pretty sure everyone in New Mexico would associate the Zia symbol as the official New Mexico logo and probably the coolest of all states.
North Carolina can’t even be bothered to capitalize let alone design.
First in flight, so they left it "plane"
Teehee
Underrated
I have never seen that design in my life. I’m not sure where it came from. [This](https://seeklogo.com/images/V/visit-north-carolina-logo-BE49454D5A-seeklogo.com.png) is the logo on the official state tourism website.
That's hardly better :-/
Eek. That kinda looks like a youth sports team’s uniform logo. It’s hard to be cool in a small space. I have always liked Utah’s slogan, though, if not the design: Life Elevated.
I hope we didn’t pay money for that.
Yes, they pulled it from the school budget.
Illinois like let's just hide the name of our state in here and maybe no one will notice us
The best states to live in have the shittiest logos and the one's with the best logos suck to live in
i’ve lived in north carolina my whole life and i have never seen the design shown once lol
Lived in NC my whole life and very few towns and cities I've been to have such little character to them. It's like half the state lacks a solid identity, especially in the piedmont and western coastal plain. So, the logo is, imo, oddly fitting but for all the wrong reasons.
Rare Mississippi W
I was also thinking how awesome it looks
It dabbles in black metal.
Only Mississippi win besides being first at coming in last.
The Dakota’s go unnecessarily hard😂
Right. North Dakota looking like a thrash metal band here. 🤘
Because we are a thrash metal band.
What more could a state ever aspire to be - good for you! 🎸
Looks like they copied each other's homework though
Both look like something Beavis or Butthead drew during prealgebra, North Dakota in particular.
When I was in junior high (like 30+ years ago) I had to write a paper on Pakistan. On the cover page I wrote "PAKISTAN" but in the Metallica font, with like lightning bolts on both ends. I didn't get a passing grade but it was a sweet cover page
WA has to be the worst
Yeah I had to look too hard for someone else calling out what the FUCK is with the Washington one lmao.
It's probably from a website builder from the early 2000s
As a Washingtonian, I unfortunately agree.
As a non american, my eye gravitated to Georgia; shows you how well designed it is
I’m familiar with Georgia logo ‘cause of Hollywood movies post-credits
Interestingly, I do look for what state a movie was made in now that Georgia and Louisiana have had growing film industries.
I grew up in the Kennesaw/Marietta area and it's always super weird whenever I see a spot from my childhood in a movie. I think at least 2 movies shot scenes in my old high school.
I don't think it's super well designed, it's just that the other logos suck in comparison.
*except Mississippi
The color of the peach does that.
Same. It's the only one that really stands out
Same
As an American, I'm drawn to Georgia as well #1 Georgia #2 NY #3 NH #4-50. The rest are tied and not terribly interesting
Bro you sleeping on Tennessee. Alaska, ND and Delaware all clean AF too
NY’s is literally a 12 yo’s tacky lunchbox sticker tho
And because it is The Peach State 🍑. Easy to recall and very simple and vibrant.
It’s Georgia by a mile. Pretty much everything else is just the state name in a fancy font
New York is just iconic.
North Carolina: “Fuck this, not gonna bother” I like Hawai’i, colorful and inviting
For real. Fuck it. Just send it.
No clue what that NC logo is, I think the creator made a mistake. [This](https://seeklogo.com/images/V/visit-north-carolina-logo-BE49454D5A-seeklogo.com.png) is the official state tourism website logo.
Ok so instead of boring, it’s now the worst!
New York is the most iconic
So New York started it all? (I swear every single city in Russia has a sign like this)
Yeah I believe they did. They even sell 'I ❤️ BJ' shirts in Beijing which is pretty hilarious
I got one of those but it was at a Blue Jays game
The city of Nanjing has I ❤️NJ
Yes. It started as a campaign to promote tourism to New York in the 1970s.
And I used to blame Amsterdam for this…
True but I hate it. My old boss claims he invented it. In reality he was just deputy mayor of NY when it was implemented and signed off on it. Same thing he does with his businesses now, takes personal credit for anything he has majority financial interest in. Anyways I’m biased.
Well unless your old boss was the late Milton Glaser we can say with certainty that he did not. So strange to take credit for something so Googleable.
And for all its warts it IS a GREAT fekkin state!
That’s nothing, my father claims that he invented the question mark
Crazy to think Milton Glaser just drew it on a napkin on the taxi ride to the meeting.
Idaho so rando we gotta show us on a map.
You know you have a marketing probably when you have to include a map of where you are on the logo.
I thought it was a buffalo jumping over the word Idaho at first
Google: Peach production by state Georgia needs to give it up already
Lol 8th
You should build a giant water tower alongside a major interstate that has been making children giggle *looooong* before there were emojis referencing totally not gonad stuff.
Fun fact. Yes, Georgia is the “Peach State” but they produce more peanuts than peaches 🍑
Western Colorado peaches are incredible. Huge, juicy & sooo sweet!
Ma’am, those right there are Rocky Mountain oysters.
Palisade peaches are unparalleled
Good: largest sky by state. Montana needs to give it up already.
Ours are sweeter, hater.
Kentucky is not bad
It's the most clever.
Georgia, Nevada, and Texas (for doubling down on whole “other country” bit)… but can we also talk about whatever Washington is doing?
Beta 1.0

I just appreciate the insecurity of Massachusetts.
As a Polish citizen I am not exposed to many US states logos, but Georgia is something I remember don't know from where. However seeing both Dakota's I want to grow a mustache, wear a quirky shirt and drive Cabrio with my dog on the passenger seat.
It’s at the end credits of a ton of movies
New Mexico. It looks like an artisan label you'd find on handmade bars of soap that smell like pine trees and sage.
these don't look official, atleast not all of them.
I've lived in Alabama for 33 years, never once have I seen that logo.
Wyoming for sure
I’ve always liked the bucking bronco
The horse disagrees: "get off me!"
Please repost after you learn the alphabet.
I got this store brand dictionary, and it's nearly in alphabetical order.
Illinois. Let's be honest, you'll be driving a lot.
I didn't know we got rid of Land of Lincoln.
State motto is different than the motto of the state's tourism board (or whatever it's called). They've had Miel after Magnificent Mile for a while now.
Virginia
"Virginia is for Lovers" - what's that supposed to mean?? a play on virgin?
Apparently it’s a simplifiedversion of “Virginia is for beach/mountain/history lovers” they originally used. It’s ironic too because the slogan was made a few years after Loving v Virginia which found a VA law banning interracial marriage unconstitutional.
It also kinda sounds like they're just inviting people to rent a hotel and bang in their state. Aside from that, having been to Virginia several times, I was under the impression that Virginia is for somewhat fastidious and well-to-do conservative white people who speak with very slight southern accents and often purse their lips in disapproval.

Georgia😋
Georgia defo
Mississippi is my favorite, then California. Massachusetts trademark icon and period looks like a question mark. I read it as ‘it’s all here?’. Also- I live in Massachusetts.
Mississippi, Kentucky, and Wyoming are pretty sick. Also quite fond of Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, Rhode Island and Georgia.
Well at least you narrowed it down.
Utah
Underrated. I'm biased as a former Utah resident, but the letters are evocative of the landscape. I also love the signs at border crossings around the state, each one welcoming in visitors with a unique mural that incorporates the branding.
I stay in Las Vegas so I might be biased in saying Nevada looks the coolest but it definitely is dope.
Was expecting South Dakota's to be a gravel pit with a pile of dead animals.
Too soon. j/k Her self-own will always be hilarious.
Nevada wins the passive aggressive contest
Hawai’i. The rest look like boring logos for law firms or chartered accountant
100% Hawaii. Aloha
Hawaii
Why are so many not using capitalized starting letters? I remember this was a fad from like 2008 when I was in uni, so I'm guessing they are that old? Edit: I love the Wyoming one, really stylish and unique.
NC gave zero f*cks lol
Why are these not in alphabetical order
Texas and NY
That’s not Ohio’s logo nor motto………
Not a single comment says Alaska even though it's simply good. My favourite by far. Mississippi is good as well though
Has Missouri grown out of it Gateway Arch logo? I mean, they made great use of their double S feature. But no arch??
In my entire life I have never seen that AZ logo. Born and raised here 30 years and I get around all over the state, I am the opposite of someone who stays at home. Just sayin To add to that: I have NO idea what that little image/colors on top are. Also never seen that before
This is fake news, nothing about that AZ logo is correct
thats is not washingtons logo
georgia
North Dakota looks the best, I don't know why anyone hasn't suggested it yet
That’s our old logo. Look up the new one and prepare to die a little inside.
Let’s talk COLORADO Sounds and looks like an online therapy ad
Georgia, Mississippi, Utah, Michigan and NY. The rest are amateur hour.
Tennessee, Wyoming, New Hampshire and both Dakotas are badass
Texas
Indiana’s is wrong, I can’t recall seeing that before, at least not any time recently. [This article](https://www.wfyi.org/news/articles/indiana-unveils-new-tourism-marketing-campaign-in-indiana) has a picture of the more recent logo

I'm from Tennessee and I've never seen that logo ever in my life. The TN logo is the tristar.
Georgia and NY.
I always liked Georgia
The Georgia one cuz it makes me think of archer
Georgia honestly
I like Georgia, California, and NY’s logos
This is not the new Minnesota logo It doesn’t say “Bring ya ass” -AE
What psycho made this not alphabetical
North Carolina was not feeling it that day
Arkansas in my biased opinion, New Hampshire in my unbiased opinion. Honorable mentions to TX, HI, and SD. Georgia’s logo looks like it belongs to an early 2000’s media company, and while I don’t like it as a state logo it definitely deserves some credit. Also, what’s the deal NC? New Hampshire doesn’t want people with bad eyesight to visit.
Maybe one day Washington DC will get its own
I can't explain this at all, but it just feels right, but there are definitely some fonts that are only used in the USA.
North Carolina: what a fun place to live lol
At first I thought the Utah one said Litah. I like the Wyoming one. I'm banned from the United States but if I could visit there, I'd go to Wyoming.
1. Hawaii 2. Wyoming. 3. Kentucky
Hawaii still in the early 2000’s era
Virginia
