I hate people who rate a game by its difficulty. Developers can make the game as hard as they want and you can cry about it. I agree with the mobile tap one it doesn't happen to me but happens to some friends.
>Developers can make the game as hard as they want and you can cry about it.
Generally speaking, if you make a game that makes people cry in frustration, people won't want to play it, which by definition makes your game worse
Part of good game design is having a reasonable difficulty curve. Unless it's a rage game I guess. I'd say gd walks a fine line between just a rhythm platformer and a full-on rage game
main levels difficulty is pretty balanced really. not the best, some levels order could be swapped to make it better but its not that bad. yeah, stereo madness does take a lot but it istn too complex, it introduces you to the basic mechanics and keeps building on that without adding anything new, which is great really. yeah, its hard, but its a good introduction for what's to come, which is even harder levels, but follows a pretty good progression. the difficulty curve isnt amazing, but its pretty solid, despite being pretty steep
to be fair the players escelated to that skill. most outsiders couldn't fathom it's difficulty. It makes dark souls gamers look like beating an insane demon.
I’d say the game does a fine job at teaching the basics. If you’re crying, then it’s a lesson. Take a break and come back later. We all have our off-days. Skill isn’t something that comes immediately, it takes time. If you’re angry, close the game, do something else. I remember crying years ago because I wasn’t doing well on Time Machine, and that’s okay. Cry about it, get over it, and come back with a growth mindset.
Any difficult game can make a person angry. The problem however isn’t the game, it’s the person. People choose to be angry. People choose to complain. Pace yourself. Don’t give yourself unrealistic expectations. You’re always going to suck the first time you try something.
As a game developer (we’ll becoming one at least) my philosophy is to make the game hard, but feel harder, so when the player overcomes it, they feel like they are a master of it. This doesn’t apply to everything though, geometry dash is no doubt a “rage game” at its core simply because of its main one “back to the start” mechanic.
>Generally speaking, if you make a game that makes people cry in frustration, people won't want to play it, which by definition makes your game worse
I am bread
I am fish
Surgeon Sim
gd's difficulty curve is actually really well designed, like at the start you really struggle hard with stereo madness. like you can't reach the ship at all for a long time (for the first time playing a game), but once you reach a certain skill level everything after that will take a lot less time to learn, making you feel like you really improved at the game
Yeah I'm not saying gd's is bad, if it was I probably wouldn't have played it for years now lol (although it could be a little better)
I was just arguing against that idea of "a developer can make a game as hard as they want and it's your problem if you don't like it" because if that was true then we'd see a lot more rage games, just not ones originally designed as such
oh yeah i didn't read your comment as that, i just wanted to appreciate gd's difficulty curve because i think it was really important to its success.
but your totally right, like a dev CAN make a game as hard as they want but people just won't play it. i think difficulty can be used to make some of the most rewarding games ever, but if the player quits and doesn't get rewarded then its just a waste of time.
Imo I think the whole tapping and it doesn’t work thing is just an excuse some kid would make. Literally any friend I had who played that (including me when I first started) would make that excuse when they would die
No, it's actually real depending on what mobile device or age of it is. I used to use a 5 year old tablet that would either not register my taps, or continue holding non-stop. I currently use a newer device (a phone, if the kind of device matters), and I have had no issues with it.
So you have three lives, hit the first spike wall. Now two lives, hit the second wall. Now one live left. If you die again in the actual level, you restart. Next attempt you will have three lives at the beginning, and the process continues.
Ngl, bro got a point. At this rate you’re just gonna get spawn killed unless the respawn shifts a block to the right but that would fuck up so many levels and mess up the game
so, this review says that geometry dash should have lives because its too hard, so its easy to understand that they mean that they want it so that, for example, when you hit a spike, you dont die, but instead go from having 3 lives to having 2 lives and so on. you die once you lose your 3 lives. so each attempt will allow you to mess up up to 3 times and on the third you actually die. now, if this was an actual thing in gd what would happen is that level creators would make 2 forced deaths at the beginning of each level so that you only start each level with 1 life so it plays like a regular geometry dash level.
gd but with three hearts?! no hecking frick! that is why it is called a rage game people! you're supposed to die a bunch of times until you get good!...................... now where is that leftover popcorn
I feel like rating games dependent on their difficulty is dumb. It’s one thing if the difficulty comes from straight up bullshit like undodgeable instakill attacks from bosses but it is rare to find games that bad
Fun fact: i though it would be hilarious if i placed a checkpoint right before a spike in stereo madness and left it like that for an hour and when i come back i suddenly have 10k attempts on the first level of the game.
They probably don't get that it's supposed to look cool when you play a level, because it would look pretty weird if you just opened, idk deadlocked and it just started at 50%
In my opinion, the 1 life is waht make this game so rage inducing, and it fundamental fun come from this(or else the bloodbath stream of Riot will be pretty boring).
I actually really like the idea of a 3 lives mode. (Optional easy mode or something) like you die and it places a checkpoint 3 blocks back and gives you a second of invincibility. It would make playing casual more fun and would be great with the upcoming platformer mode. Def wouldn’t change the existing norm though
Well on mobile w/o realizing it you can be touching another part of the screen completely voiding some taps which can be annoying but the 3 lives thing is dumb the whole point of the game is to clear the map in one go
I hate people who rate a game by its difficulty. Developers can make the game as hard as they want and you can cry about it. I agree with the mobile tap one it doesn't happen to me but happens to some friends.
Escape From Tarkov in a nutshell
FromSoftware games in a nutshell as well lol

But when you beat the level you were stressing on, it will feel like you got a 100% score on a test you didnt study for
Tell me about it

Also, gd has literally a ton of easy levels if you want those
ig the first part is valid but the three lives lmao
nah first ones not valid, its his computer/phone's fault his computer/phone isnt registering the input, not the game's.
Imo I think the whole tapping and it doesn’t work thing is just an excuse some kid would make. Literally any friend I had who played that (including me when I first started) would make that excuse when they would die

Bro should download noclip accuracy
Would still die
Lol
made me laugh
If you had 3 lives people would just have 2 forced deaths in their levels
How would you do that?
2 walls of inevitable spikes at the beggining of each level so that you only have one life per level
Wouldn't you hit those in every attempt?
Exactly. Every attempt, you lose 2 lives
I'm confused
So you have three lives, hit the first spike wall. Now two lives, hit the second wall. Now one live left. If you die again in the actual level, you restart. Next attempt you will have three lives at the beginning, and the process continues.
but who said that when you die you pass through the obstacle you died
I dont know, I'm just explaining what I think the other guy meants.
alright
The reviewer suggested that
he just said the three lives not going pass through the obstacles but if this was the case the spike idea would be very smart
Ngl, bro got a point. At this rate you’re just gonna get spawn killed unless the respawn shifts a block to the right but that would fuck up so many levels and mess up the game
Bruh

Skill issue
The only time it's true
The reward from the game comes from you only having one life
3!/5 is very good
that's 6/5
I came here to say that i audibly lol'd at that. If no one gets this joke i will actually cry
they would've given it a 7/10 but only gave it a 6/10
r/unexpectedfactorial
hint: factorial
gd but with three hearts?! no hecking frick! that is why it is called a rage game people! you're supposed to die a bunch of times until you get good!...................... now where is that leftover popcorn

Geometry dash reboot card coming in 2.2?
Every geometry dash review ever
i have a solution for the first part #TAP YOUR PHONE AS HARD AS YOU CAN SUCH THAT THE SCREEN BREAKS
This solution worked for me, thank you! 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Bullsh!t I saw a review of a guy saying that the first level is impossible Me: finish level in 1 att
Fun fact: i though it would be hilarious if i placed a checkpoint right before a spike in stereo madness and left it like that for an hour and when i come back i suddenly have 10k attempts on the first level of the game.
Xd
man has skill issues.
They probably don't get that it's supposed to look cool when you play a level, because it would look pretty weird if you just opened, idk deadlocked and it just started at 50%
This is just noclip accuratacy
How do you even rate something 6/5?
being hard and stressful is literally the point of the game
literally skill issue
Obvious skill issue
That sounds like... SKILL ISSUE?
1. You have input delay. 2. This isn't osu!, bye Felicia!
\*practice mode
I just want to scream in their face that "THATS HOW IT WAS DESIGNED"
So they give it 7/10 but 3/5… Math +100
So whats wrong here? 3/5 is 6/10 and 4/5 is 8/10
7/10 ÷ 2 = 3,5/5 round it up and its 3/5
Wait, rounding 3,1 up gives you 0.6?
I have no idea what you are saying
Me neither
Lol
Get a better phone
Make your own fucking easy game lmao.
It’s meant to be a rage game lmao
In my opinion, the 1 life is waht make this game so rage inducing, and it fundamental fun come from this(or else the bloodbath stream of Riot will be pretty boring).
3! = 6 He would rate it 6/5
Hell no
Sounds like a skill issue 😂
never understood how people rage in easy levels like stereo madness and stuff. like, i get why but it still feels forced
massive skill issue moment
I tap the screen it doesn’t jump and I die :(
7/10=3/5
Three lives???
skill issue

I remember playing on mobile it did feel sometimes my clicks werent registering. But having 3 lives? Yeah no thank you.
3 lives would ruin
I like that he’s respectful but the three lives would kill the game lol
Starting all over again is what gives the game its difficulty… why would we need 3 lives?
I agree with the first one, on mobile this bug seems to be something that no one really talks about
POV: You love this game so much you rate it a 6/5.
