It's the rainy season. So light cotton shirts, Chino shorts, bucket hat, and a very light rain jacket. Get something which folds up really small.
Bring a quality high factor sunscreen.
Everything you need from make up to condoms is available here. There are lots of malls and pharmacies and tech shops to pick up spare chargers and mosquito repellent.
If you're a girl bring the brand of tampon you use. They are available in supermarkets but may not have the brand you use. (We've not seen organic tampons here, for example).
Ah- bring a couple of adapters if your electronics don't have a British style plug.
And bring a 1m 4 gang extension cord- Ghana is stingy with its wall outlets.
Someone one is bound to invite you to church so take a shirt for that. Tie not necessary.
And bring your yellow fever vaccination certificate.
Its not raining as much now because its early May, but getting deeper into the month towards June, rain will increase and its gonna get worse everyday so yeah, btw i live in Accra so im reliable💀
Accra is cosmopolitan. Everything you need is already here. Just have cash on you. There are many fanciful restaurants and hotels. Things are quite expensive now. The power supply is somewhat erratic. When lodging in a hotel, ensure they have standby power. Best internet package is from MTN. Most of the tourist sites are in Cape Coast.
To a large extent, yes. Mainly because we have given the other attractions next to no publicity like we have with the castles at Cape Coast and Elmina.
And if you pick up even the most basic Ga or Twi while you're here, people will love it! 😁
Solar/battery powered torches are available in Melcom or one of the China Malls. Probably cheaper in Accra than on Amazon tbh.
bring a nice white summer dress and join me at The Royal Woman's Conference at cln events dot com. and meet wonderful women from ghana and the diaspora and queen mothers.
Hi! You can learn some basic Twi words every Friday from 6PM at African Vibrations Hostel in Osu, we meet every week (and on Mondays and Tuesdays practice all languages). You can find us on Instagram as Language Café Accra
Have you ever traveled to an African country?
If you have, apart from some details, there would not be much difference.
If you haven't, there are myriads of areas where the reality will be beyond your expectations, but also, there will be several aspects where you will be sorely disappointed.
but also bring those things that you feel are must for you to travel with, like chargers, e-sim card, your own creams, and over the counter milanta or, tampons or whatever you use. While you can find alot of things in ghana getting there and searching for it is another experience
Heyo! I’ll be in Ghana, from July 14- at least aug 8 and planning on traveling around a bit more. If you’d be looking for a travel buddy Id be very happy to link up!
Bring a diesel generator bcos electricity goes out every day.
Anyone who wants to be friends with a foreigner only really needs your money.
Only prostitutes on dating apps here, be careful. If you decide to meet someone, never invite them to your place straight away, meet in a public place first.
Be careful of covid, and malaria. My expat friends get covid regularly, even with precautions.

I disagree with the assertion that most of the tourist sites are in Cape Coast. The 'only' tourist attraction there is the Castle.
Maybe I should have stated Central Region. You’d also agree that most tourists visit Cape Coast?
