Is Castle in the Sky worth watching?! Absolutely! It’s an absolutely terrific movie, very much an Indiana Jones/Star Wars style adventure. Yes it’s more simplistic, in that there is a villain (but at least he’s voiced by Mark Hamill), but that’s what gives it its charm. It features just the right amount of humor, excitement, heart, and thrills. The real star though, is the music—it’s gorgeous, highlighting every scene. I definitely recommend this one. Great dub cast, too.
*Castle in the Sky* is my favourite Miyazaki movie, actually. It's just a simple, straightforward adventure movie, filled with all the wonder and humour you would expect (a strange, uncomfortable joke involving Dola's henchmen and Sheeta aside). Its sense of scale and awe is matched by only a few Ghibli movies, to my taste. As a bonus, watching it along with Nausicäa is like witnessing the birth of the design choices that would dominate most of Square's RPGs (and thus most Japanese turn-based RPGs around that time).
the fear and uncertainty of this world has no place being spent worrying if you should or should not watch a Hayao Miyazaki film. You should watch every one.

All Hayao Miyazaki's movies are definitely worth watching, and Castle in the sky is one of his bests.

Happy Cake Day!
Happy cake day
Pretty much all but three (out of 25) Ghibli films are worth watching at least once.
Which 3? EatW and ToE are two of the worst I've heard but I haven't seen them
Those two, and Ocean Waves.
Oh thanks. Never watched that either. let me guess goro directed it
No, it was done by some unknowns working in Ghibli and released as a made-for-TV movie.
Actually? Pls don't downvote but if I can't hear your voice I am terrible at detecting sarcasm lol
Nope, that’s 100% true. If it were sarcasm, I would have put the /s tag.
Thx. That's what I would have guessed but you never can tell with humans
Was this post worth posting?
