Marner at nearly 11 million would take moving Theodore+Karlsson/Barbashev to make the cap work and that is just for this year. The extension would kill our depth. Marner is also not a goal scorer. Stamkos is the one guy who could replace Marchie's goals and he'll come in around 5-6m AAV.

No the Lightning offered him 8x3 which is a joke and borderline cap circumvention. In reality it will probably take something like 4x6.

Mariner would be a long term contract. Stamkos is a perfect plug for 40+ goals on a short term deal given his age.
We could also loophole the cap by giving stamkos like 8 years/3.5m per and a signing bonus probably. Whereas marchy can get a 4/7 somewhere
