It’s way easier to make pars from the dumpster than birdies from the middle of the fairway with a wedge in your hand. It has to be this way. If the game was easier then why would you even need to buy new clubs?
Played with a random who drove the green on the 250 yard par 4 first. His 30 ft eagle putt went well past the hole and off of the green, then his first chip didn't make it back to the green. Two putted for a six.
What’s the rule if you chip from off the green and it rolls off the other side? Does that count as being on the green or is the next shot still a chip?
Any shot from your first shot on the green until you hole out is a putt for stats purposes.
If a player putts off the green into a bunker, wedges out and makes the putt, it's listed as a 3 putt.
Played my first round of the year and legitimately had 8-10 NDAs.
Most notable, drove a par 4 to MAYBE 10 yards right of the green, pin high. Didn’t hit the green with my chip.
I think being pin high but left/right of the green is the worst approach spot honestly. Especially my local that tends to have banked greens. Way too many chunked 60 degree shots from pin high.
Haha you give me too much credit…not much rough, flat, even could have chunked it onto the cart path and that would have given it a better chance of bouncing onto the green!
Another good stat would be “SHDTTFT” (Should Have Done That The First Time) which is where you hit a terrible shot followed up by a great shot that could have happened last shot
We use a BMW rule.
If you hit a shot that ends up alright for our level of play (lands a bit short of the green but went straight with good flight, slap a drive a few feet into the rough, blade one onto the green, etc) and you Bitch, Moan, or Whine about it, you get a penalty stroke. We had to humble ourselves after certain players kept complaining over shots the others agreed was decent.
I call it "Nice drive Johnny" when this happens because I have a buddy who is an incredible ball striker and hits pretty long but can't hit a wedge to save his life😂
My playing partners always joke that if we started a gold podcast we’d call it “Waste of a Drive”. Then we ask the person who just chunked their 2nd shot if they’re available for an interview
How good your last shot was has no impact on the score unless it puts the ball in the cup.
Stop putting unnecessary pressure on yourself to hit two great shots in a row and settle for average or better!
Just added this statistic for tracking to my golf group….
We already have the 4 putt trophy, gotta carry that sucker around until somebody else 4 putts…
I have a theory that we are so used to having to play second shot from the rough or behind a tree or somewhere else that is not easy. That when we have an easy 2nd shot in we don’t know what to do bc it’s not something we practice
Drove the green on a 341 yd par 4 (lots of elevation off the tee box, I don't hit it *that* far). Of course I fucking 3 putt for a par when I could have had my first eagle.
Drivable par 4, 314 to the pin, 17th hole. On a vacation trip so we all took our best shots. I drove 2 to the front of the green. I fricken 4 putted both. Never carded an eagle in my life. 10 years and average 90's. Damn, I suck. NDA x2
Seriously. Would be way better if we could get more posts about LIV golfers instead....... Just fuck off dude. This is the ultimate just keep scrolling if you don't care. Discussion about golf is like what this is here for.

You should consider a career with Hallmark
It's hard to recover from a good drive
This is genius, definitely using that next round 😂
This is glorious

Technically, he 5 putted for a 6.

I hate that this is helpful info for me as well. Thank you
This is useful info. Thanks!

No good drive goes unpunished
My entire life is NDA stat
Humblebrag about your driver
Yeah, join my scramble team, go grab some drinks after you pump a drive.
Another good stat would be “SHDTTFT” (Should Have Done That The First Time) which is where you hit a terrible shot followed up by a great shot that could have happened last shot
is this phonetically pronounced “shit fit?”
We call it the Long Drive Penalty
Our mantra after somebody hits a great drive is "Now you have to do something with it."
Similar to a PBFU. A Post Birdie Fuck Up.
Any time I birdie I know to expect a quad coming up soon

It’s impossible to recover from a great drive!
Hitting a controlled wedge is the worst. I'm so much better just clubbing down and going full swing with a wedge. So dumb.
lolol, i'm definitely keeping track of NDA's from now on
Same. I’m definitely introducing the NDA term to my golf group
People say nice drive to me all the time. I’m like 75-80% fairways. My standard reply is, “don’t worry, I can still make 6 from there.”
My playing partners always joke that if we started a gold podcast we’d call it “Waste of a Drive”. Then we ask the person who just chunked their 2nd shot if they’re available for an interview
Pretty great stuff here op

We call it GDR. Good drive ruined.
As we mark that bogey or double after a great drive, “yeah but did you see that drive.”
USGA you suck, go again
Me and my buddies always say “nice drive, nice five”
Just added this statistic for tracking to my golf group…. We already have the 4 putt trophy, gotta carry that sucker around until somebody else 4 putts…
Count those along with the ABFUs and APFUs. After birdie fuck ups and after par fuck ups.
The second shot of any hole is the hardest shot in golf.
Our line after a drive is AMF!
Me and my friends have one when you hit an ok shot we just say NT - Not Terrible
I have a theory that we are so used to having to play second shot from the rough or behind a tree or somewhere else that is not easy. That when we have an easy 2nd shot in we don’t know what to do bc it’s not something we practice
I don't even need to track that. Just look at FW ✔️ and GIR ❌

Omg love this. Man I do that a lot. I think it's mainly mental. Like ok you smashed it, don't fuck this up and then bam, chunk
Denny McCarthy here. Just wanted to check in and say hi.

Weird stat. Not very useful since it's always 18 for me.
I hit multiple 300 yarders last weekend and fucked up each and every iron shot to follow up
That’s the story of my golf life. No good drive goes unpunished.
Sounds like you go to the range and just hit your driver.
Learn how to hit a wedge.
Thanks for the really interesting story about your golf round
Are you an asshole everywhere or just on reddit?
Sick burn
