Same here. I was OK with everyone who left and actually happy about a few of them but when Cam went it hit me. Really liked him and the year he was having when he quit but I realized a few months later that I hadn't even thought about him. Same with Rahm. I really respected the way he handled the first LIV offer and what he said about the discussion he and his wife had and deciding the extra money wouldn't change their lives. Then he left and I felt betrayed and thought that was it, LIV won. Within a couple of months I realized we're just fine, I don't miss him and I'm loving our new crop of budding stars.
The departures opened up slots for a lot of young guys that I'm enjoying watching especially the amateurs who blazed onto the scene. This weekend is a great example of a Cinderella leaderboard. We've got Shipley, Dunlap, Knapp, Bhatia, Clanton and a few old dogs all within striking distance and it's not even an elevated event. I'm loving the competition I'm seeing on the PGAT right now.
I always find the loyalty consumers have for their products to be fascinating. The currency not being money, but time.
Praise for AEW is interpreted, at a subconscious level to the WWE fan, as a threat. A threat that, perhaps, they have wrongly chosen what they spend their precious free time consuming.
This phenomenon is why the fanboy not only feels the need to promote their choice of consumption, but to berate competitors.
TLDR: David Faherty = Jim Ross
It's a Cinderella leaderboard because none of the people normally at the top of the leaderboard are playing. It's specifically because is isn't an elevated event that the leaderboard looks like it does.
Not saying it isn't fun, but if the leaderboard looked like this last week at the Travelers it would have been much more notable.
He seemed like he said interesting things, but looking back and actually watching Liv off and on he just says cliches and semi-nonsense.
I’m really enjoying some of the promotions the PGA had to slot in.
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I grew up a Norman fan so I had an irrational hatred of Faldo. That said, I really grew to tolerate, and then like, him based on his commentary so I started seeking him out on TV and YouTube and so forth, and now I love the guy. It's not the same without him.
I was born in the post Faldo era. But from what I’ve read and seen about him, he was almost intimidating on the course. Real ice in his veins type. But now that he’s done playing and he’s at a great point in his life, we’ve really gotten to see the cooler, more laid back side to him. And I think that’s what people enjoy about him.
I know it obviously doesn't mean the same thing as it used to, but the "Sir" title would really get to me today. I have enough to think about over the ball, last thing I need is a fucking knight to play against.
Also miss McCord, watched the PGA tour almost every weekend growing up, he was the best at making Saturday at something like the John Deere interesting to watch, even when the guys in contention were nobodies. Miss the elegance of Oosterhuis as well, between the CBS team and Johnny Miller on NBC I feel like the broadcasts my first 7 years of watching (2008-2014) were special.
Is this Frank Nobilo, the New Zealander whose ancestors were Italian pirates? The Frank Nobilo who, according to the New York Times after the 96 US Open, "walked the plank"? 😁
Inject smylie and kiz in my veins. Those two calling the players or whatever event in the spring they called with their hole side table was fantastic.
Wish Kiz would hang up playing mediocre at best golf and do it full time, because turns out in 2024, golf is just a hobby for that man
Wake up dinosaurs of television, we want youth in broadcast.
I really enjoyed him. Not a LIV supporter but glad he was given more of a desk analyst role if that’s what he wanted. But he was a great on course reporter too. His interactions between him and McCord i always loved.
Here’s a great video of him commenting a charity event https://youtu.be/55We_ljGNIs?si=EqSigUNKqMvfkCsg
Hate to break it to you, but the vast majority of tour golfers would never support a Democrat. The good news is that it is ok to watch sports and not be concerned about the player’s political leanings. Jeez.
Hard to ignore their political affiliation when you see them proudly accepting a medal at the White House the day after a failed coup even as the broken windows in the Capitol are being boarded up and the makeshift gallows torn down. Looking at you Gary Player and Annika Sörenstam. Know who had the decency to turn down the same medal the same day? Bill Belichick of all people.
Very true. But when a public figure is outspoken about supporting something that you are passionately against, it's human nature to look at them with some level of disdain.
Think about if the opposite was true and some golfer or announcer was outspoken about supporting Biden, they'd get boo'd off the course.
If an athlete just keeps their mouth shut, then nobody cares. Don't open yourself up to the criticism if you don't want the backlash.
I happen to share the above opinion and think Feherty is a turd for going full MAGA. Even if you agree with Trump politically... what about just strictly for the golf implications! Trump is like the antithesis of golf. The way he disrespects golf courses and all the cheating stories from caddies, other celebrities, and other golfers.... Hell, even Tiger has thrown jabs at him.
Is that a good thing? To be like David?
Maybe if being “successful” is the goal.
My bet is most people would rather be “unsuccessful” and not be an asshole
LOL. Approach a rando... You can be wealthy and successful with as many sex partners as you desire and be an asshole OR be a loser but nice guy.
Wanna bet which choice dominates?
No. I never found him funny. The funniest thing about him was his accent but when you’ve lived around Scottish and British accents for a while it stops being a novelty and then his stupid phrases were just annnoying.
When I found out he was a trumper I pretty much wrote him off.
No surprise when he moved to LIV and I don’t miss him.
He is very good on LIV but he doesnt make up for the rest of the terrible on air staff. They need a complete overhaul of their tv broadcast talent and video quality. Spend the money to exceed CBS/NBC. Especially if they’re giving has beens 8 figures. Put some of that into the finished product.
Given the salary he's probably making now along with working a considerably lighter schedule, it is 100% guaranteed that Mr Feherty doesn't miss the PGA Tour or NBC.
Next.
I could never focus on his analysis because I was too focused on how he would wet his lips way too close to the mic and I for one don’t miss that one bit
I don’t miss Feherty - he jumped the shark when golf channel gave him his own show. But he had a great line when camera zoomed in on Kyle Stanley’s golf ball monogrammed “KFS”. Paraphrasing Feherty’s comment: “his middle name is Richard”.
Only from Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004. Other than that game, no. He’s also a complete twat for shitting on YouTube golf, who are doing big things for growing the game
Only from tiger woods golf video games
I still quote his infamous “a flagmolester.…” commentary from the game whenever playing partner hits a close shot.
“It ended up in the first cut, and we all know that is the deepest.”
“Why is my microphone rattling? Wait, that’s not my microphone…IT’S A SNAKE!!”
*very nicely done*
Unless you’re a Bovine
Thee lobber...
Faster than hot snot out of a chrome nostril
Tiger woods ‘05 was the best with Gary McCord and Feherty. Bought to fire up the game cube right now
I just went on Amazon and bout it. I'm bought to play 04 till it gets here.
hahaha your bout, his bought
FTP!
FTP!
Yes don’t forget the late night highlights shows he and McCord used to do every Thursday and Friday before Letterman
Memories of playing this game in the basement with my stepdad. Wow.
Honestly I thought I would but it turns out I don't.
Yeah, I was pretty bummed about it, and now this is the first time time I’ve thought about him in two years.
Same here. I used to watch that interview show that he had on the Golf Channel quite often.
Yeah but they ripped that from him long before he left NBC coverage. Show ended in 2019/20, left for LIV in 22
The one with Christie Kerr where she acknowledged and joked about the weiner trophy was amazing.
I don't muss anyone who left. I've just forgotten about them.
Same here. I was OK with everyone who left and actually happy about a few of them but when Cam went it hit me. Really liked him and the year he was having when he quit but I realized a few months later that I hadn't even thought about him. Same with Rahm. Fuck the bonesaw tour and the employees.

Not really. I absolutely will miss Verne lundquist though.

This putt. For buddie.
The uncle I never had
###IN YOUR LIFE HAVE YOU EVER SEEN SOMETHING LIKE THAT
Blocked! Cody Again!
We got Johnson Wagner in return which I’m ok with
Yeah that dude is great. What a fucking trade
Not really but i do miss Nick Faldo
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I grew up a Norman fan so I had an irrational hatred of Faldo. That said, I really grew to tolerate, and then like, him based on his commentary so I started seeking him out on TV and YouTube and so forth, and now I love the guy. It's not the same without him.
Same! No reason to dislike him then other than him beating Norman at the Masters. Funny how things can flip flop.
He is physically intimidating, too. The guy has an enormous head and hands.
I know it obviously doesn't mean the same thing as it used to, but the "Sir" title would really get to me today. I have enough to think about over the ball, last thing I need is a fucking knight to play against.
Absolute noggin
It's okay, as a little kid I liked Norman too, simply because he was called "The Shark" and wore that big black hat, lol.
Cool Story, Hansel.
People shit on him while he was still commentating. I always thought he was pretty good
He is still on Sky occasionally, you are welcome to him.
Sameies. Sad, but Im glad he left with time to still enjoy life. I imagine calling golf and traveling half or more of every week is an exhausting life
Not as much as I miss Gary McCord and Peter Oosterhuis :(
Also miss McCord, watched the PGA tour almost every weekend growing up, he was the best at making Saturday at something like the John Deere interesting to watch, even when the guys in contention were nobodies. Miss the elegance of Oosterhuis as well, between the CBS team and Johnny Miller on NBC I feel like the broadcasts my first 7 years of watching (2008-2014) were special.
Rip
wtf I just realized Peter passed. damn.
Weirdly I agree. Peter Oosterhuis had a calming voice and Gary McCord's commentary was whimsical
And Ken Venturi.
He started to sound like he always needed a drink of water
Nope. Don’t even think about him when I watch the pga.
I do, but Frank Nabilo is growing on me
Is this Frank Nobilo, the New Zealander whose ancestors were Italian pirates? The Frank Nobilo who, according to the New York Times after the 96 US Open, "walked the plank"? 😁
Yes
Not in the least
No. His shtick was old in 2013.
Exactly. His whole bit was outdated long before he fucked off to LIV.
Thank you. He was annoying at best.
Smylie is growing on me.
Inject smylie and kiz in my veins. Those two calling the players or whatever event in the spring they called with their hole side table was fantastic. Wish Kiz would hang up playing mediocre at best golf and do it full time, because turns out in 2024, golf is just a hobby for that man Wake up dinosaurs of television, we want youth in broadcast.
🙋♂️
Yes
Every damn day! He was the best in the 2000’s Tiger wood games
Used to like him, but his schtick was getting tired and i thought the “Seinfeld-esque stand-up” on his golf channel show was awful.
That show was the beginning of the end for me as well. It was brutal.
His commentary was good but the way he smacked his lips into the microphone made it unbearable for me.
Came here to say this too. It made me mute the TV it was so annoying.
Absolutely not. That guy was annoying as hell.
I miss Zinger talking about pressure all the time
Intestinal fortitude
Pressure busts pipes.
When he was able to get words out in between choking on Dustin Johnson's dick
Nope
I really enjoyed him. Not a LIV supporter but glad he was given more of a desk analyst role if that’s what he wanted. But he was a great on course reporter too. His interactions between him and McCord i always loved. Here’s a great video of him commenting a charity event https://youtu.be/55We_ljGNIs?si=EqSigUNKqMvfkCsg
I do, yes. Not hurting my enjoyment but I do miss him
Absolutely!
Nope! His schtick was funny for the first few years but his novelty wore off.
I used to love Feherty, until he turned into a MAGA lunatic.
Hate to break it to you, but the vast majority of tour golfers would never support a Democrat. The good news is that it is ok to watch sports and not be concerned about the player’s political leanings. Jeez.
Remember when it used to be totally normal to have no clue who someone’s ideal political candidates were?
Hard to ignore their political affiliation when you see them proudly accepting a medal at the White House the day after a failed coup even as the broken windows in the Capitol are being boarded up and the makeshift gallows torn down. Looking at you Gary Player and Annika Sörenstam. Know who had the decency to turn down the same medal the same day? Bill Belichick of all people.

U only like ppl that have the same political views as u?
If they support Trump, yes. Trump is solely responsible for the division in the country. He had to create the division to create his base.
Turn off cnn. Don’t let them brainwash you
MAGA lunatic? Who cares if he doesn’t vote for Biden. This is a golf subreddit.
Really? Damn
You seem sane
Is that true? I may like him even more then
I’m not even mad at you. Just sad.
Most successful people are like David. The senile dude is an embarrassment.
Is that a good thing? To be like David? Maybe if being “successful” is the goal. My bet is most people would rather be “unsuccessful” and not be an asshole
He did good things for the military so there’s that at least. Seems misguided. I agree he’s kinda an asshole like most other rich folk
LOL. Approach a rando... You can be wealthy and successful with as many sex partners as you desire and be an asshole OR be a loser but nice guy. Wanna bet which choice dominates?
Yea, most of Reddit is eternally online with no concept of the real world.
Watch LIV
Looks like all 6 of you who are watching it are here.
No
Honestly felt his schtick was really getting old…and had been for awhile
Golf Channel/NBC always gets rid of their best talent, but their loss is LIV’s gain.
Nothing against the guy personally and nothing against him going to LIV but no. I never found him that funny or entertaining.
No an anti 9/11 turned LIV shill? Not even a little
No.
Haven't thought about him too much. Miss Faldo and McCord. Wished Johnny Miller was in the booth to see McIlroy choke the US Open.
First time I think about him since they tried to make a big deal about him leaving.
The real voice of golf
No, I hear him all the time when I watch LIV.
Yeah I thought I would. But I really don’t. I certainly don’t miss him enough to watch Liv. I guess I miss his show on the golf channel most
The man who gave us futility woods.
No
Who?
No his lip smacking is unbearable. It sounds like he’s stirring Mac n cheese. Can’t watch golf because of it.
No. His schtik had run its course.
nope
Negative, I’m on the Johnson Wagner band wagon. The dude is fairly witty
Yes, but not enough to watch Liv golf.
He's on LIV
Miss David Feherty in 2024? Turn on a LIV event and listen in, he's fkn terrible. Miss DF 2005-2015? Sure, but he's not that guy anymore
No. He wears on you with all the cliches.
You can still catch him on the CW!
Nope
Not really. I did like him and McCord asxa team. We can drop Colt knost. Please!
Everyday
Big time, but mostly due to the fact that the current announcers put me to sleep.
Nope
Yes
No
Feherty’s talk show was great, a really underrated and under appreciated interviewer.
No
Not at all, his shtick was very tiresome
No. The guy is not funny, entertaining or informative - although he mistakenly thinks he is.
Yes.
Um turn on LIV if you want David,
No
Yes!!!!🙌
No, but that’s because I watch him on LIV events. he still hilarious and great to watch
Yea.
No, that guy is a douche.
No, because I watch LIV lmao
Nope
He is very good on LIV but he doesnt make up for the rest of the terrible on air staff. They need a complete overhaul of their tv broadcast talent and video quality. Spend the money to exceed CBS/NBC. Especially if they’re giving has beens 8 figures. Put some of that into the finished product.
Absolutely Fucking Not
I do. I watch most the telecasts on mute now. He was the only one that I didn’t find annoying, on the contrary I actually enjoyed him.
Thought I would. Don’t.
No
Meh…thought I would, but no.
Nope, not even a little bit.
Nope not one bit
I do .Who else farts during a live broadcast from the fairway?
No? I can listen to him in every LIV broadcast. He's still brilliant
No
It always felt like he tried too hard to be clever.
Given the salary he's probably making now along with working a considerably lighter schedule, it is 100% guaranteed that Mr Feherty doesn't miss the PGA Tour or NBC. Next.
Meh he was ok and you can catch him on CW most weekends
* a handful of weekends a year
I feel like I can get into Liv golf if they stop the music and instead of the F1 style scoring on the left of the TV screen just use PGA format
Nada
Yes. I didn’t realize how much until I watch LIV Nashville.
No
Not one bit.
His act was tired by the end
This post is stupid. He is awesome on LIV.
Nope, he’s on 14 LIV broadcasts this year. I catch him there. I do miss watching golf channel during majors though. Just can’t take Brandel.
It was better with him but I don’t miss him either.
No, he was a massive twat!
Where did he go?
The announcers this week have been a little disengaged, but it's a small tourney, so w/e
Not Feherty per se, but I miss the days when the CBS broadcast wasn't as bland as Jim Nantz's haircut.
No, he is on the LIV tourneys every other week. It’s on CW.
No, watched LIV the other day cuz nothing else was on and I was thinking “damn I don’t remember him being this annoying”
The nasal whistle is not missed. Got to the kingdom of Saudi Arabia if you want to hear whistling exes, axes.
No
Nope!
No.
Fuck no, I hated hearing his wet lips smack together when he talked.
Not at all. His outspokenness when he went to LIV about WANTING to make people offended and not like him made me…not like him. Lol
No. Never liked him and he always seemed to think he was way more clever than he is.
Haven’t thought about him until now
I forgot about him until you mentioned it. So I guess that answers the question🥲
No
I miss Gary McCord, Maltby, and Koch far more than Feherty
No not at all.
Check out liv for a second and immediately miss him. Everyone is so boring and politically correct
Another grade a twat who was a drunken asshole now preaching life to others, we don’t have enough of them.
Only from Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004. Other than that game, no. He’s also a complete twat for shitting on YouTube golf, who are doing big things for growing the game
I had completely forgotten about him til you mentioned his name. So no, I don't miss him. Why should I?
