Tobacco Road?

Half moon bay

I used to play it before the hotel was built. The green was further back and to the right. Much tougher hole then.

They used to encourage you to tee one in the ocean at #18, but now it’s not so cool.

Stayed at that Ritz. Spent the extra for a terrace with a fire pit. Got breakfast delivered in the morning and couldn't see anything at all cause of the fog haha. Beautiful location though and the town is very laid back.

The gold has its charm, but I agree that early March green is the best.

I love Wente...playing though the hills and the grapes. I need another golf trip.

This hole cracked me up. First time playing there I was assured that somewhere nestled in the field of bunkers there was indeed a green. If you squint hard enough you can even see the flag in this photo lol.

Such an incredible course. I played it back in May and the conditions were amazing. I was by myself on a weekday and finished the round in 3 hours. I was actually kinda pissed at myself for not slowing down because this is a course you really want to take slow and enjoy.

Pawleys Plantation! "The shortest par 5 in Myrtle beach"

Pawleys is dead on. Both this par 3 and 17, playing a bit longer, across the marsh are hell if the wind gets up. From that picture I think I was 130 to center and I hit my 135 club and struck it well but it only flew about 110 just short into the marsh because there is just a wall of swirling wind.

80% sure that’s the 270-ish yard par 3 at Cypress Point.

The WHAT par 3?

My bad, it’s 243 yards apparently. But you have to carry it 225 over the ocean. I am definitely butchering this story, but the story goes that there was a very good woman golfer who was involved in the early stages of course design who said this is a par 3. There was a guy with her who had a similar reaction as you, and I think she dropped ball at the tee spot and landed it in the area that would become the green with a 3 wood, no warmup. Pretty badass move. They compromised and gave you a fairway to the left if you don’t have the distance or want to bail out, which you can see in the picture. But it remains a par 3.

Yup! The woman was Marion Hollins and the guy was Alister Mackenzie. He wanted it to be a short par 4, but when she dropped a dime right on the future green site he decided a par 3 would work.
