A "good 3 iron for beginners" is kind of like asking for a "good motorcycle for a 15 year old driver's ed student". You suck at driving because you're new and you don't have a good swing. That is literally everyone starting out. Using a 3 iron with low loft and a tiny face (compared to a wood) with a super small sweet spot is not going to help. Maybe look at a longer hybrid or a 7 wood or something instead.

Agree with this. I spent about 2 years just teeing off with a 6 or 7 iron when I was learning.

I suppose I’ll stick to that then

Frankly I'd trust a 15 year old driver's ed student on a motorcycle more than I would the average golfer to get distance out of a 3 iron. Low lofted irons require a very high club head speed to be able to actually generate a sufficient ball flight to get more distance than a mid iron. Lower lofted clubs do not automatically go further than higher lofted clubs. As a matter of physics the less loft on a clubhead the more speed you need to generate enough backspin to get the ball up in the air. If you take someone with low clubhead speed, in neutral conditions, they will not hit a 4 iron any further than an 8 iron. They will go about the same distance just the 8 iron will be more flight less roll and the 4 iron will be less flight more roll.

Sit I’ve played for over 30 years and can’t hit a 3 iron.

If there’s something about irons that makes you feel more confident, you could try a utility iron. They look like long irons but are more forgiving. But if you struggle with a 5 hybrid I wouldn’t expect the utility iron to work any better. Sounds like you’re a very new golfer and struggling with your longer clubs, which is completely normal. Just need to hit the range and keep working on your swing. Good luck!

People will tell you hybrid, but to answer your question I'd say it's the U505 2023 model. I am definitely not a good golfer, but I can unequivocally say that while I can't hit any hybrid straight, the U505 is my jam.

I just got the GAPR Lo 2i/util and I love it, that said, hitting regular 1-4 irons is pretty difficult. Try to learn how to hit the clubs you have (though I do love buying new shit)

Don't waste your money. Get lessons instead.

4 hybrid

Sub 70 makes a nice utility 3-Iron. I can’t hit a driver or a 3 wood straight so I just use the 3 Iron or 5 wood to drive.
