Otto’s. You can pick directly from their farm. Carvers in the Downtown Market carries Otto birds closer to the holiday. WMFarmlink will also have turkey options close to the holiday.

Ottos

If I get a big boi I order from Crane Dance at the Fulton Street Farmers Market and pick it up the Wednesday prior. No complaints.

mberanek

I think Rakowsis farm usually has them. They have a brick and mortar on Fulton also.

BasilAugust

Can confirm

Crane Dance Farms - delish!

Adventurous-Side6844

This is where we’ve gotten ours for the last 10ish years. Pickup fresh or frozen, with multiple size options, from the Fulton Street Market.

Mom2MittenState

Ottos or you can order a fresh one through Kingma’s I think.

jbtrumps

Interesting, I've never gotten or considered a fresh turkey. Usually grab a 60 cents/lb frozen one. Is fresh turkey tastier?

witz0r

You would absolutely notice the difference.

stealthymomma56

Otto's in Middleville.

Typical-Jury-4850

Bobs Butcher Block in Jenison. They start taking orders mid October

dlec1

Interesting never thought about fresh vs frozen. OP said they have bought a brined fresh before is that an option at any of the places mentioned above? After lord of complaining from the wife & SIL about the boys just sitting on our butts watching football I was stupid enough to say this year will be Mansgiving where we will do all the cooking….the closer it gets the more I’m feeling like that was a bad idea.

I’d be happy to give you some tips! Injector is a game changer; basting and injecting is the way to a juicy crisp turkey. Make some herb butter; get some thyme and rosemary, chop it up, mix it into softened butter, refrigerate so it’s hard again, slice and slather the turkey (stick some under the skin too!) before you roast it. Dont rush it; keep an electronic thermometer inside with an alarm when it hits temp. Rest for 20-30 and carve!

Please consider plant-based options! Quorn, Gardein and Tofurkey are all really good. Holidays about peace should be celebrated with peace 💚💚💚

Educational_Body_438

No Plus get up to speed on the whole holiday, Thanksgiving and peace thing

Wolfenjew

I know the origin, but at this point I think we've culturally shifted to trying to promote harmony and happiness. It's not fair to unnecessarily kill millions of animals to enable that.

Educational_Body_438

Otto's but you can order them thru Delski's Prime Meats in Wyoming too
