A big part of that scene's charm is how sudden it is.
Just \*snap\* and suddenly Nathan Fillion is writhing on the ground, trying to scream out of his new mouth-eye.
Not only that, but he falls over and flails as if he is in agonising pain. Like Bill failed to rearrange his skull and what's inside to match his new outside.
Also, TIL Preston was voiced by a Browncoat
I'm still shocked the writing team was able to get away with that in a TV-Y7 show. Like, a little bit of blood I can understand, but that much in such an intense scene was pretty surprising.
Especially considering a lot of the other, much tamer stuff they weren't allowed to put in (like the spin the bottle reference.)
Weird one, but the Sweaty, One-Armed Monstrosity. Something about this huge head dude just demanding you let him eat you like it’s a normal thing is particularly disturbing to me.
Might be normal in whatever dimension he was originally from. The food in his dimension couldve just jumped right into his mouth he might not even understand why everyone runs from him.
"Sir? Hello, Sir?, I would really appriciate it if you went into my months. SIR? HELLO? Wow, how disrespectful."
(I think thats how the scene went, its been a while since I rewatched Gravity Falls)
That whole seen during Weirdmageddon when Dipper figured out "Wendy" wasn't the real Wendy, and she turns into that weird black worm thingy. Creeped me out.
yes i love that scene. and the way dipper's surroundings all morph into this hellscape, like the horror was hiding just beneath the veneer of mabel's happy sparkly la la land (because it was). and then the way it just goes right back to normal like it never happened
When Stan is telling that story and it’s in first person POV that the guy is just trapped because he didn’t buy anything. Idk but as a kid that scared me.
Where do I even begin ?
1. The reveal of the ghost scene in the Northwset mansion scene (blood coming out from the eyes and mouths of the animals)
2. Bill's "gift" to Gideon
3. Pacifica's dad in agonizing pain trying to scream from his new mouth-eye (Bill rearranging all of the orifices on his face)
4. The whole mimic episode
5. Bill's hat's flesh and bones reuniting in a disgusting way after Ford tried to shoot him
And SO much more
Definitely when the shape shifter froze as "the last form dipper will ever take". And then seeing dipper actually get into that pose in the northwest manor episode gave me chills.
The episode were Bill takes over Dipper and turns his head slowly at ghost Dipper… the episode is just creepy to think that some demon guy is in YOUR BODY while you float around seeing it and cant do anything about it ;-;
I hated the part when the shape shifter said "you're not going anywhere" and then crawled on the ceiling and screeched, the blood curdling screech was just enough to make my spine trickle. Also the part when he was a mix of dipper and mabel. Those parts will always scar me.
I was really young when the series aired, so the backstory death scene of the ghost lumberjack really scared me. I remember having at least one nightmare from it
Oh yeah, that Flippin thing where he comes out of the tree and dipper doesn’t even know!! I was convinced the hide behind was real and I legit thought that it was going to stalk me!
Probably the talking and bleeding Animal Heads.
I'm currently re-watching "The Owl House" and it also has its fair share of scenes that make you think "OK, they put THAT in a Kids show?!"
I gotta say, out of all the scenes it was dipper turning to wood because he was way closer to death there than in every or atleast most other scenes in the show
In Northwest Mansion Mystery, for one thing, the fact blood poured from the animal heads on the wall. Just the fact DISNEY allowed that to air. But also the image of Pacifica and Dipper hiding under the table as the ghost moans "I smell a Northwest" while dragging his axe through the floor? That, paired with the blood, is something out of a horror movie.
Then there's Weird Mageddon, where people get turned into stone. That was more disturbing, imagining my own loved ones being turned to stone before my very eyes. Jesus. Same episode, Dipper trying to evade the big head thing with one arm?
Oh, then that one short of Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained, with the Floating Island Head. Always creeped me out in the best way possible.
Into the Bunker. The entire episode. I always wonder what would have happened if Dipper had accidentally struck the real Wendy with that axe instead of the shapeshifter. And it creeps me out thinking how the shapeshifter had been hiding underground. When the gang enters, how long had the shapeshifter known they were there? Was he watching them from the shadows? Not knowing that is creepy.
Ford getting turned into gold. It’s been in my mind since I watched it when I was a kid, it’s horrifying because I hate the feeling of not being conscious/not being able to breathe
“Wait this isn’t real!” *wendy turns into cockroaches and the world goes red* “you shouldnt’ve done that dipper!!!! We’re watching you!” *creepy stuffed animals turn around with bill cypher eyes in their mouths* “there are eyes everywhere”
Definitely the most shocking (as in, “They allow this on Disney??”) was Northwest Mansion Mystery when all the animals in the main room start bleeding 🩸 😳
As many creepy scenes as there are in this show, the only one that really gets under my skin in the one where Bill, while possessing Dipper, slowly turns his head saying “if you don’t exist”
does an entry from the journal count? the note that bill wrote while possessing dipper! absolutely horrific!
but on a real note: the shape shifter scenes in “into the bunker” (s2 ep2)!
it freaked me out as a kid and honestly every time i rewatch it!
I watched it when I was younger and still very afraid. I had to stop watching after the episode where the gang breaks into the haunted convent store. The eyes and brain and nervous system in the freezer scared me so badly. Now I’m an adult and love the show lol

It wasn't part of the main show and instead was a short, but in Dippers Guide to the Unexplained when they find a giant tooth on the shore of the lake and Scuttlebutt Island lifts out of the water revealing itself as a giant dismembered head. Oof that got me and I WISH there was more of it.

"How about I re-arange all of the orifices on your face?" That scene disturbed the hell out of me.
Also, TIL Preston was voiced by a Browncoat
wasn’t it northwest
Yes, the exact character we were talking about... There's that jarring moment of "Hey, I recognize that voic-OH GOD WHY ARE HIS EARS NOW HIS EYES!"
I'm sorry, is Nathan in the show? Who does he play as? I don't recognize the quote.
He plays Preston Northwest
Another reason to love Nathan Fillion.
Me too
I showed that scene to my spouse and it surprises me that I still managed to get them to watch the whole series with me
okay I genuinely thought that was hilarious though
This was the only scene in the show (I can think of) that bothered me.
This was my first thought.
I just laughed like the twisted man I am
When the Animal heads started bleeding
"It's jam."
Ancient sins. Ancient Sins. Ancient sins.
**ANCIENT BLOOD AND BLACKENED SKIES.** **THE FOREST DARK SHALL ONCE MORE RISE.**
Yes
I'm still shocked the writing team was able to get away with that in a TV-Y7 show. Like, a little bit of blood I can understand, but that much in such an intense scene was pretty surprising. Especially considering a lot of the other, much tamer stuff they weren't allowed to put in (like the spin the bottle reference.)
Gotta love America where blood and violence is fine, but nothing can be even remotely related to sex!
That's not accurate scene for a cartoon
Same that freaked me out SO much
Weird one, but the Sweaty, One-Armed Monstrosity. Something about this huge head dude just demanding you let him eat you like it’s a normal thing is particularly disturbing to me.
Might be normal in whatever dimension he was originally from. The food in his dimension couldve just jumped right into his mouth he might not even understand why everyone runs from him.
That actually adds a level of sadness if true ~~and dark comedy imagining a bunch of Mr. Meeseeks-like creatures in that situation~~
"Sir? Hello, Sir?, I would really appriciate it if you went into my months. SIR? HELLO? Wow, how disrespectful." (I think thats how the scene went, its been a while since I rewatched Gravity Falls)
Even worse; it’s Louis CK
Yeah let’s consider the redubbed Alex Hirsch version canon. ~~at least he got a redub, unlike a certain generally unfortunate time traveler~~
I don't remember this
It was in Weirdmageddon part 1, right when Dipper found the abandoned mall
oh the one that was literally a head with an arm, I remember now
"I THINK I'M GONNA KILL ONE OF THEM NOW!"
"JUST FOR THE HECK OF IT! EENY, MEENY, MINY, **YO-**"
The convenience store scene with the skeleton reflections, that episode scared little me
Also, the floating organ ghost from the same episode
That moment made my blood pressure through the roof as a kid
What episode is that?
The Inconveniencing, season 1 episode 5.
Wait which floating organ ghost- (didn’t see it or maybe missed it?)
Brainfreeze
??
right after dipper grabs ice
Ohh I remember it
The shapeshifter crawling on the ceiling with its neck stretched out and it turning into an abomination of Mabel and Dipper.
True
When the mimic shapeshifts into an abomination based out of the two twins
That whole episode was creepy
Definitely
ANCIENT SINS
ANCIENT SINS
Nortwest mansion (we all know what scene)
That Northwest mansion episode about getting rid of the ghost but all of the taxidermy started bleeding out of every orifice of their bodies
The one I still look away from is the entire nervous system in the ice freezer. It’s super detailed, feels uncanny, and is down right terrifying
Bill shuffling Preston’s face
The spider lady in roadside attraction
Idk y ppl r afraid of the Preston rearrange face thing tbh- I mean it's weird but not THAT creepy it's like kinda overdone
"Have a head that's always screaming?" And then proceeds to dissolve it one layer of flesh at a time
Bill shuffling the functions of every hole in Preston's face
That whole seen during Weirdmageddon when Dipper figured out "Wendy" wasn't the real Wendy, and she turns into that weird black worm thingy. Creeped me out.
yes i love that scene. and the way dipper's surroundings all morph into this hellscape, like the horror was hiding just beneath the veneer of mabel's happy sparkly la la land (because it was). and then the way it just goes right back to normal like it never happened
Omg I was waiting for someone to mention that that skirt the flip out of me as a kid
i completely forgot about that! it was so creepy
When Stan is telling that story and it’s in first person POV that the guy is just trapped because he didn’t buy anything. Idk but as a kid that scared me.
the WHOLE idea of Bipper terrified me as a child. I loved the episode but that was horrifying
Where do I even begin ? 1. The reveal of the ghost scene in the Northwset mansion scene (blood coming out from the eyes and mouths of the animals) 2. Bill's "gift" to Gideon 3. Pacifica's dad in agonizing pain trying to scream from his new mouth-eye (Bill rearranging all of the orifices on his face) 4. The whole mimic episode 5. Bill's hat's flesh and bones reuniting in a disgusting way after Ford tried to shoot him And SO much more
When he shuffled the functions of every hole in Mr. Northwest’s face.
It was funny but Bill rearranging the functions of Pacifica’s father’s face was pretty disgusting
A N C I E N T S I N S A N C I E N T S I N S A N C I E N T S I N S
#ANCIENT BLOOD AND BLACKENED SKIES #THE FOREST DARK SHALL ONCE MORE RISE
what's this from?
Northwest Manor Mystery the animal trophy heads with glowing eyes bleeding out their mouths while chanting that
ohhh
"ANCIENT SINS. ANCIENT SINS. ANCIENT SINS. ANCIENT SINS."
Spooky Spells! Spooky Spells! Spooky Spells!
Definitely when the shape shifter froze as "the last form dipper will ever take". And then seeing dipper actually get into that pose in the northwest manor episode gave me chills.
I love this szene
The episode were Bill takes over Dipper and turns his head slowly at ghost Dipper… the episode is just creepy to think that some demon guy is in YOUR BODY while you float around seeing it and cant do anything about it ;-;
probably when he went full demon form, that or the face rearrangement thing
I hated the part when the shape shifter said "you're not going anywhere" and then crawled on the ceiling and screeched, the blood curdling screech was just enough to make my spine trickle. Also the part when he was a mix of dipper and mabel. Those parts will always scar me.
The last episode when Bill speaks in a deeper, demon voice and says he's going to make Mabel and Dipper into corpses
I’ve got some children I have to make to corpses
The scene where the animal heads started bleeding from their mouths horrified me
I was really young when the series aired, so the backstory death scene of the ghost lumberjack really scared me. I remember having at least one nightmare from it
The entire concept of Bills possession in Sock Opera
Any scene where bill is drinking something
Hide-Behind obviously.
Oh yeah, that Flippin thing where he comes out of the tree and dipper doesn’t even know!! I was convinced the hide behind was real and I legit thought that it was going to stalk me!
"I'll be keeping my EYE ON YOU 👁️"
The disturbing scene that disturbed me was when Bill said I'm a lot of things
When Dipper was turned into wood. Little me really felt him there.
Yuppp
Huh good offer #HOW ABOUT I SHUFFLE THE FUNCTION OF EVERY HOLE IN YOUR FACE *Snap*
Probably the talking and bleeding Animal Heads. I'm currently re-watching "The Owl House" and it also has its fair share of scenes that make you think "OK, they put THAT in a Kids show?!"
What episode is that
Northwest Mansion Mystery
It ain't a kid's show
Not scary, just annoying when Bill turned the members of the Zodiac (except the Pines family) into tapestries.
I still haven’t gotten over the fist nipples. Everything else I could handle.
lol what?
https://youtu.be/hn7fD-5OLug?si=ppL-E1hbbxNCimKY
I know the clip, I just think that’s funny lol
The scene in the inconveniencing where that bird STABS A CHILD TO DEATH with a spoon? Just the noises freaked me out a lot when I was younger.
the entire shapeshifter episode.
The shapeshifter episode scared the shit out of me as a kid
The episode where the wooden animals bled
Into the bunker terrified me
The northwest mansion episode
The very first time Bill was summoned, the way everything froze and lost color. Gave me chills fr
Just remember that i watch you while you sleep!
#ANCIENT SINS
that one halloween episode where the monster was like forming from the candy THAT SCARED ME AS A KID
For me it had to be Ford missing with the Quantum Destabilizer. The way the hole in Bill’s “hat” healed itself gave me the creeps(and it still does)
"Should I be one? Or another? #How about both?" That ugly ahh monster scared me shitless.
ANCIENT SINS
I gotta say, out of all the scenes it was dipper turning to wood because he was way closer to death there than in every or atleast most other scenes in the show
The animal heads in the Northwest's mansion walls bleeding with white eyes got me as a kid
Not knowing that is creepy.
When the shape shifter thing turned into the Mabel-dipper fusion
When all the taxidermy came alive.
ANCIENT SINS
"How about instead I shuffle the functions of every hole in your face?"
I remember when The Inconveniencing premiered and the weird brain alien scared me so bad I had nightmares!
The hide behind
If you keep digging, you’ll meet a fate worse than you can imagine, and this will be the last form you ever take! Morphs into Dipper: AAAAAAAHHH!
The shapesifter when he transform in both mabel and dipper
Ford getting turned into gold. It’s been in my mind since I watched it when I was a kid, it’s horrifying because I hate the feeling of not being conscious/not being able to breathe
“How about I block every hole in your face?” Gave my kids nightmares. I got slightly jumpscared by it too.

Summerween & the convenience store ones scared me but now they’re my favorite episodes haha

The shapeshifter turning into the dipper/mable monster
The line “I’ve got some children I need to make into ***corpses***!!!!!”
I watched it when I was younger and still very afraid. I had to stop watching after the episode where the gang breaks into the haunted convent store. The eyes and brain and nervous system in the freezer scared me so badly. Now I’m an adult and love the show lol
When all of the holes in a man’s face are swapped
Ancient Sins
shifty (shapeshifter)
For me I think it's when Giant bill was chasing dipper and mabel throughout his entire fortress. Not gonna lie, that was really creepy.
Probably the dipper-mabel spider thing
"when i get my hands on you kids im GONNA DISASSEMBLE YOUR MOLECULES!" as bill is chasing after the pines twins

The entire convenience store episode.
Dipper snapping Dippy Fresh's neck. (It was a deleted scene, but I'd pay to see that fully made on the screen. bro ticked me off since the beginning)
You know what?Never mind it's the ghost episode. When I saw the axe flying, I knew this episode was gonna be a banger, But also horrifying af...
