lmao normies with they "notes"...
Nowadays there's no talent, only whitebeaks that rely on aggregations of long periodically matched sinusoidal soundwaves to "make" "music" instead of actual talent and rythm.
Even the so called percussive instruments is a scam, relying on computers and prosthesis like "drumsticks" or "kick drum pedals" because their limb are atrophied and completely incapable of GROOVE.
Pounding stuff, THAT is real music.
It's not like there hasn't been shit music in every era and every year music has been recorded. In the 60's there was more than just The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Beach Boys, there was plenty of filler on the radio, it was crap and that's why we don't remember it.
And Rick, the money grubber he is, can keep his f-ing heart emoji for his brown nosing army.
The Stones have so many utterly mediocre and forgettable songs it’s insane. During Covid I took it upon myself to sit down and actually listen to a lot of older band discography in its entirety. The Beatles and Zeppelin really didn’t miss for the most part. Yeah there’s some Beatles tracks that are kinda memes but 99% of their library is actually good.
But the Stones? I was surprised at how single driven they were. A lot of their albums had 1-2 good songs and that’s kinda it. The audacity they had to claim to be the greatest rock band in the world is actually impressive.
Kind of, but slightly little different. Generally speaking he will order an Uber and then proceed to berate the 17yr old driver who emigrated from some far war torn nation hoping for a better life. Only to pick up Rude boy Ricky and get accosted for not knowing who Buddy Holly is.
I just checked out the daily top 10, it includes Kate Bushs Running up that hill from 2003 and a Metallica song from 1985
e: just realized running up that hill is only there because of ST
it’s funny cus while ofc music has changed whether that be for better or worse(ALMOST LIKE THATS THEIR OPINION BECAUSE MUSIC IS SUBJECTIVE). I always feel like it’s hilarious like bro grow up u old af 😭
Yeah like he trashed Ariana Grande, even tho she has megahits, Is talented, actually makes great music, and he wishes he produced for her….
That tolerance? Lol
It's not about listening to the songs dumbass. It's about music being SUBJECTIVE. Sure, I don't really like those songs or that kind of music either, it's not my thing. But just cause I don't like it doesn't mean someone else can't. People are allowed to have preferences you know, which you and your friend Rick can't seem to understand very well
its not about the number of chords, its about the element of surprise. when there are only 2 chords there is only so much that can be done harmonically, especially in a genre such as pop.
Google the terms objective and subjective, then come back. I don’t like new stuff either, but you’re hurting your position when you present it that way.
/uj In the musicmentary “Hired Gun,” (which was incredible by the way,) one of the quotes was:
“Long before there was Pro Tools, there were pros.”
Take from that whatever you will, fellow circlejerkers.
Music is entertainment, and if “utterly abysmal computer-defecated crap” is making people entertained, it’s good music.
That’s how it is and how it will always be. Music means nothing if it’s not heard, no matter how much spiritual bullcrap about music you keep telling yourself.
I'd say there's no "good" or "bad" when it comes to music, or art in general for that matter.
I would also argue against "music is entertainment", whilst it might be for some for others it might be something else, not everyone listens to music for the same reasons and everyone's reasons are valid.
I also disagree with "Music means nothing if it’s not heard", if you write and play music for yourself alone then it already means something.
Sure, I don’t agree with you on the last one, but that’s what I see about the music, and we don’t have to agree on things, that’s why world keeps spinning around.
I just find this kind of behaviour, disregarding musicians because they use different tools to make popular music.
I spent 11 years on bass, and 3 years on guitar, who knows, if I spent that many years on Logic or Garageband, maybe I would have a hit now. It’s just that different tool.
To me music is still entertainment, even when you’re depressed listening to music by yourself to feel better (or worse) you’re still entertaining yourself. Be it good entertainment or bad.
You can think the amount of people that listen to a song determines how good of a song it is, and I'll see it as a reflection of how many people wouldn't know good music if it kicked them in the ass. Do you always let the masses decide what you personally like?
Yes. You can play unpopular music in your home, but if you release an album, pay for your full equipment, recording, mastering, releasing, distribution and advertisement, it’s crazy to say:”Do you listen to masses.” You do listen to masses. Look at all the popular metal and rock bands today. Some of them are still amazing, and some of them went to shit because they didn’t want to change with times.
I think it's a lot about if that music is being remembered and if it attracts younger listeners and sticks with them too... Johan Sebastian Bach and those guys will continue to be listened and devoted many centuries past us
not that I agree with the original comment here, but is it really bad to critique certain music for not being artistically motivated? even if there is an audience that is being entertained.
Sure it’s okay to critique music, but try to be respectful as possible. I don’t like a lot of artists, but if they’re famous and made it in music, they must have some kind of a talent, or something good about them.
At the end of the day, we’re all trying to get to the same goal. Most of us atleast.
'it's okay to critique music, but try to be respectful as possible' but shouldn't that apply to human beings as well who are just sharing their opinion on music? for instance.. 'it's okay to critique people's opinions on music, but try to be respectful as possible'
>Music is entertainment, and if “utterly abysmal computer-defecated crap” is making people entertained, it’s good music
Wrong
If it entertains people, it's ... entertainment
A monkey wearing sneakers and a baseball cap is also entertaining. But that doesn't make it music.
You're free to call that, but utterly music is about a common language.
I got to listen a lot of free jazz motherfuckers doing all things out of scales, odd tempos with stupid silences and ralentandos... Like if those guys just met and are playing random things, trolling the whole audience. And sad thing there's a massive bunch of posers with a Heineken beer in that festival pretending that there's something to understand in that mess. It took me sometime to realize that fuck em, and next time I may go and throw rotten tomatos at them. It's like those artists doing random paintings like Pollock and the excuse is that I don't like that because I don't understand it (or maybe I didn't read much propaganda to get brainwashed).
I agree there's a lot of formula out there and more of prefabricated staff, with lots of producers writing and working, and more staff controlling the social media opinions, rather than spontaneous genuine acts of expression that aren't that overcooked in the studio. We need to deal with that, but don't be snobbish like those supposed saviours of music.
BTW I love Dizzy, Guthrie, and I've been jamming all my life out trying to go off scales and tempo with more or less taste... But assume people likes to bump their butts to simple things, like chanting lololo at soccer matches.
Is utterly abysmal new music new genre?? I cant wait for Spotify playlist on it then

He turns into an angry boomer and shakes his fist at the clouds. Wait, that’s what he already does anyways. Never mind.
The amazing Bulk*
Hasn’t he made at least 50 videos about the same topic of “Spotify’s Top Songs Are Shit” and “All New Music Is Bad”

Was the Metallica one Master of Puppets, also from Stranger Things?
Yup and Rick Beato released a video on that song 3 years ago but just changed the title and added “Stranger Things” to bring up that viewer count.
I dunno about you guys but ever since the invention of bone flute, music kinda started to suck
The only good flute is a skin flute.
Yeah man
Oh Man those good old days when it was just about pounding hollow logs and growling.
I one day hope to get a heart from Be-a-toe

Should have learned word theory.
Does Berklee have a course on that? Also, do I need to be able to read to get accepted?
If you haven't read and understood Finnegan's Wake by preschool, don't even bother.
Rick Beato is the new Paulo Coelho.

Objectively, bad bunny does not offer anything new or interesting to music at all, most modern pop/rock artists dont either
this is exactly the critique rick has of these modern pop artists. he's not saying they are objectively bad.
Google the term sarcasm. Or better look it up on Wikipedia. Else you are hurting your position.
Looks like we have a live gatekeeper everyone!!

Music is supposed to be art.
Probably 90% of all music made throughout human history has been fun shit for people to dance to.
It is, but it’s also entertainment. You’re supposed to dance to the music, have fun with it. Not blindly stare into the ceiling listening to it.

It was and still is in many ways, there's incredible music being released everyday, you just won't hear much of it on spotify's top pop songs.

If he’s singing it does.
Valid point
This is the worst fucking argument I have ever heard holy shit
7 / 10 out of the top 10 songs on spotify are garbage, the rest are Metallica, kate bush and Harry stiles
that harry styles song started out strong imo but as it went on it became meh. there was that piano track tho which was nice to listen to.
