A beautiful, big bore behemoth, and my first big bore revolver. It’s got heft, but MAN the kick is truly going to be something with this beauty.

gdmfsobtc

You shoot it yet?

havoccentral

Not yet. I expect the recoil to be quite intense, but I also will most likely be shooting .45 colt out of it more often (mostly because it’s cheaper than .454).

The cylinder dimensional tolerances are really tight with this one. Some 45C chamber no problem, but some like Hornady are 50/50. I highly recommend a glove with wrist support if you plan to shoot 454 on the regular, as it's actually fairly light weight for the mighty Casull.

havoccentral

Noted thanks. I know freedom arms also offers cylinders for 45 colt that fit in the 454 so I may take a look at that

gdmfsobtc

No need really, just have to find the 45C that will chamber smoothly. Mine likes Underwoods. Fantastic gun, enjoy bigly!

havoccentral

Gotcha. Do you know if Ammo Inc .45 is okay?

gdmfsobtc

Have no idea, but their 10mm was underwhelming.

havoccentral

Alrighty. Thanks a ton!

Uranium_Heatbeam

Freedom Arms marketed this revolver like crazy when it first came out in the 80's. Was in Point Break, Armed & Dangerous, and Alien Nation. In the latter movie the .454 rounds were ridiculously shown to blow through ballistic vests like feather pillows

tablinum

Damn. Very, very nice.

Oh beauty SAA, here is mine 7.5 inch barrel: [picture](https://i.ibb.co/WWXSs9H/20221221-202159.jpg)

havoccentral

I like that grip on it. Cool burner!

kato_koch

I love how crispy and smooth these are. Beautiful gun.

No_Information5528

Thats sweet!

Fit_Yak_4184

Is the 454 very harsh. Have a 44 mag. Just wonder

havoccentral

Probably a lot snappier than 44. I have yet to shoot it, but I have seen comparisons of the 2.

Fit_Yak_4184

I figured. Just wondering if it'll really feel harder in recoil or not

Just looking through old posts… Yeah, the 454 is a lot more jarring than the 44. For me its a caliber that can wear me out at the bench. You cant just let it roll back like the 44, you have to hold tight, and still not be tense and shake.. But dam it hits hard!
