I get overcome with emotions watching the show. It was my first foray into anime way back in 2008 with my cousin, and I instantly fell in love with it. It still brings me to tears in those heavy moments, while also lighting a fire in my soul. If ever there were a show that showcased the indomitable spirit of humanity, it’s Gurren Lagann. The only show to get me so emotionally connected to the characters in a very short period of time has been The Faraway Paladin, though it’s of a completely different genre. I’m so glad that the first ever anime I had given a proper watching was this show and it will forever be in my eyes one of the greatest.
Honestly, I don’t rewatch the whole series very much. It’s still up there as a contender for my favourite anime, but more often than not I’ll just rewatch a specific episode/moment when I need motivation/catharsis.
I was like 7 or 6 in 2016 when I watched the show for the first time I was balling when kamina died and it was even worse when I finished watching the show but it was amazing it is still my favorite anime ever and I will always cherish my first time watching it
I decided to spread the word of it after first seeing it in 2010. I had found the whole series on DVD for $30 at a "Movie Stop." I know I still have them somewhere.
Gurren Lagann is one of the very few anime where I’m thoroughly satisfied once it’s over. I don’t have depression or FOMO that normally happens with other series I’m invested in. I love the ending, I don’t want an OVA, and it’ll never need a sequel. That’s just another reason (of many) it’s my favorite of all time.
I'd say Gurren Lagann is like a really complicated art piece. I tend to see people either not getting it and moving on or understanding the series on another level who seem absolutely dedicated to it.
I say, watch the whole thing and if you still don't understand, wait a few years then watch it again :)
Actually no, I felt somewhat acomplieshed "Damm I found such an amazing thing"

After i finished watching, i had so much motivation but also felt pretty sad that i wouldn't be able to find anything like it again

Pretty awesome. I just watched the movies and they to have a very fast pace in general but that last fight was just epic. Great stuff
I cried of joy for I knew I had witnessed Genuine Peak
Dude they're remaking Gurren Lagann so it's something to look forward to
I’ve watched the show about 20 times now. There may never be another one quite like it, but so long as I can still watch this one, I’m fine.
The best anime ever made.
