Idk if anyone mentioned this earlier when they were talking about DayQuil because I tuned in late but the FDA just recently announced that phenylephrine doesn’t actually do anything clinically significant regarding decongestion. In fact, it actually has some pretty nasty side effects to the point that if you have hypertension it’s contraindicated for you. The only nasal decongestant that’s proven to work is behind the counter, there’s no OTC medication for nasal decongestion that’s proven to work anymore.

I don't think this is true. Afrin nasal spray is otc and is incredibly effective. It's honestly scary how quickly and effectively it works. The only issue is you can become physically dependent on it if you take it for too many days in a row.
Edit: I can only assume that the people downvoting me either haven't tried Afrin or used too much and became dependent on it.
