it's a Footprint brand, a long time Sheffield maker. The castings are by Qualcast ,who made castings for lots of firms (ones with Q's on the frogs), so it's pretty much the same plane as the later stanley/records but with slightly different bits added.

ha! I'm a geek about tools but literally forgotten my google password twice this month already! They made lots of good stuff, topically (from another recent post) the auger fixings used to lift the Mary Rose shipwreck

Hmmm, has some Millers Falls characteristics (tote and knob, adjustment wheel) lacks others (lever cap and mating surface of bed and frog) as well as some Stanley, like the lateral adjustment and the frog design, both of which are not MF design. So sort of a blended knockoff mutt is all I can conclude. No actual clue, never saw a similar one, likely because it was made in the UK. Looks like it will work well, clean and sharpen and let us know.
