I'm also experiencing this. I had to log-in, then go back to old.reddit and refresh the page before it would show me as logged-in. Is this the beginning of the end? Auto-redirect to new-reddit to get people off it? Old.reddit is my line-in-the-sand. That goes, so do I.

37-19

Yep 100% agree. It takes SO MUCH LONGER for new.reddit.com to load for me. It's too much.

radieschen79

Yep, I'm having the same issues. Is [old.reddit.com](http://old.reddit.com) gone for good now? šŸ˜

queen-of-storms

I hope it's not intentional. I cannot stand the mobile style layout when I'm on PC. Just now trying to log in to reply to this I logged in, it took me to my home page instead of this thread, it wasn't in old. format, I refreshed, still none, so I had to manually type old.reddit.com and then make my way back here. VERY FRUSTRATING.

radieschen79

Exactly the same for me. I'm on Firefox and had to disable the Old Reddit Redirect add-on to be able to log in. I just hate this layout format on desktop, let's just hope this is only a temporary bug that will be fixed soon.šŸ˜

HotTakes4HotCakes

Re-enable the addon now and it should work. It seems like it's just a matter of signing in and letting the cookie get placed, then all add-ons can be re-enabled. Which is ridiculous, but I expect literally nothing else from this company anymore.

radieschen79

It does indeed!!! Thank you so much, or whoever does all of this hard work behind the scenes! šŸ˜ I won't log out of reddit again for the rest of my days...šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

i only use old.reddit.com I'm fine. Been getting some weird stuff on the new but I just move on.

TheGlobinKing

> Old.reddit is my line-in-the-sand. That goes, so do I. +1

BroskiMcBroskison

Iā€™m with you. Been around since 2009. Banned on many many different names. This place used to be a bastion for free speech and real internet. Now the Reddit logo of the guy with an antenna plugged into his brain is more symbolic than everā€¦.

Cyprinidea

If they disable old reddit, I'm done with them. Probably should quit this site anyway.

diacewrb

Same here, the new design is simply unusable to me on a desktop.

Lemmy has other substantial problems, and the direction it's going in terms of moderation makes it difficult to recommend anymore. But hey, they have a lot of third party apps and it's tolerable for the moment. But I'd try some of the others, too.

Plz_Help_Me_2023

I got "Invalid Username/Password" literally **12 times** after being forced to the new login page. I kept refreshing the page, copying and pasting, for some reason Reddit decides after a dozen attempts to accept my user/pass. And after logging in the site shoves me to NEW.REDDIT.COM!!! Honestly WTAF. Does Reddit actually have a Quality Control department??? LOL

S4T4NICP4NIC

Apparently the devs start their weekends on Thursdays now.

37-19

Apparently the QA dept are all getting high AKA "working from home"

Sneaky_Bones

Have the same issue. Reddit already does everything it can to direct folks off oldreddit. If it is a permanent change this will be the end of my logging into reddit at all.

PussyExtension

I'm here just to say this all has happened to me too and I'm glad I'm not the only one. It took me a few tries to get in. Very odd, hope they get it sorted out quickly.

usernameaa2

This has been reported by a couple of users in r/bugs. Check there to see if there are any updates from an admin. That said, I too have similar issues you are having with logging in. With browsing, I remain on old.reddit provided I do not click any links that directly contain www.reddit in them. I can navigate around through links like my username and r/ hyperlinks without issue. I will leave one device of mine logged into Reddit for now until this is addressed by an admin. I am afraid if I don't I won't be able to log in again otherwise. I wonder how many old.reddit users are currently unable to mention anything because of this? If this site becomes hostile to old.reddit users, I will likely stop using Reddit entirely. Hopefully it is just a bug.

R_Lennox

I never log out for this very reason. I am careful to not accidentally hit ā€œlogoutā€ on my iPad because I fear not getting old Reddit back.

HotTakes4HotCakes

Old.reddit redirect addon

Coryperkins563

Having similar old.reddit woes. Logging in feels like wizardry now! Guess we're part of the Can't Login Club?

NotMeantToBeHappy

It's happening to me too, and keeps directing me to www.reddit instead of staying on old.reddit. Like others, I also had to refresh to show I was logged in.

president731

Try logging in using https://sh.reddit.com/login that seems to be a temporary work around that most old Reddit users are having success to properly login. And if this isn't just a monumental screw-up and is Reddit's way of trying to force people to dump old Reddit, then there's going to be a lot of blind and other print-challenged users unhappy. Screen readers we blind people use work well most of the time on old Reddit, new Reddit is an absolute nightmare!

37-19

Thanks, but here's what I get when I tried that: **Error 301 Moved Permanently** Moved Permanently Error 54113 Details: cache-nyc-kteb1890087-NYC 1714700414 194852343 Varnish cache server

president731

Yeah, there have been a couple people in other threads that have encountered problems with this workaround. No idea what to say other than you may have to wait until Reddit gets off their thumbs and actually fixes the regular old Reddit login page they screwed up so badly.

HotTakes4HotCakes

>>No idea what to say other than you may have to wait until Reddit gets off their thumbs and actually fixes the regular old Reddit login page they screwed up so badly. This presumes they're not the ones that broke the workaround after people started sharing it.

president731

Lol, and who would've had access to break the workaround besides Reddit themselves? Unless you're suggesting some third party has access to Reddit's components, I doubt it. And if that is what you're suggesting, then even Reddit itself is screwed up royally.

37-19

> Reddit gets off their thumbs LMFAO this is hilarious!!! Yep, and thank you for the suggestion!

president731

Welcome, though I wish I could've been more of help.

Free_Asparagus

thanks! it'll have to do for now

president731

Sadly, the workaround no longer functions for me, it also redirects to new Reddit now. I had to go download the Reddit Enhancement Suite ad-on for FF to be able to log back into this account and get bumped back onto old Reddit.

Free_Asparagus

I've always had RES for reddit but login is still broken on old.reddit.com - maybe it's the old.reddit redirect browser addon that's getting rejected by reddit

BrentLivermore

Wow, thanks, that worked.

AmericanSahara

I think reddit knows that this change will piss off many customers. I guess I'm not going to do any regular posts and comments on reddit anymore, such as [old.reddit.com/r/stocks](http://old.reddit.com/r/stocks), [old.reddit.com/r/worldnews](http://old.reddit.com/r/worldnews)

StubbEToe

I've still got Reddit Enhancement Suite installed and am not having these problems. I guess it's not in active development anymore, but it still works for the most part.

Svvitzerland

Same. It's very annoying.

HorrorElectronic4383

Exactly my experience on all counts. Worse still I can't stay logged in and can't use the "remember me" option on the old reddit page.

ByGollie

I'd keep an eye on Tampermonkey scripts - eventually they're going to break it - and someone will put together a script that'll reformat the web page to restore an alike functionality

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ByGollie

You're truly doing the Lord's work in linking [that script](https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/494004-old-reddit-com-login-form-redirection-fix) Hey /u/dizney-mountain - try that script above - you'll need to temporarily install Tampermonkey browser addon and then that script - but once both are installed, and the login works, you can disable/remove them again

jgoja

There have been other reports of this today. I would suggest making a post in r/bugs.

PaigeMarieSara

Itā€™s still working for me Old.reddit.com

shokalion

The issue is if you're logged out, and go to old.reddit.com there is no longer a username/pass login box on old reddit, you get redirected to New Reddit, have to login, then have to get back to old reddit and refresh for it to work. And that's if the new login box works, I've had it fail.
