I am! I went to junior prom last year with friends and had fun. Not my favorite kind of event but I'm glad I went. Going to senior prom most likely with just friends this year and I'm excited!
i went last night and i had so much fun (we went to ihop afterwards)

im the one sitting on top of the marble fountain thing lol
We had Junior Prom a couple of weeks ago, I didnāt go because Iāve heard that the food is usually shit, and the music is pretty loud. Iām kinda sensitive to really loud noises and get a headache easily from a speaker being too loud since my concussion back in freshman year, so I didnāt feel like going. Itās like close to 70 bucks for shitty food in a really dark gym with loud music. Saved money š
I am because my friend moved from my school 3 years ago and wants to make an appearance to talk to some old friends one more time before graduating. He needs someone from my school to āinviteā and I chose to.
i went when i was a junior and it's was okay. nothing special. the highlight was going to cracker barrel before and eating pancakes, then going bowling till 1am. that was fun.
so for senior year, i'm not going cause i don't have anyone to go with and i just don't really care
My prom was last night. I had a lot of fun and went with some friends, but the music sucked and I felt a bit awkward dancing because I wasn't that into most of the songs and none of my friends really wanted to dance. Had a lot of fun getting ready and taking pics with them though
Prom starts in about 2-3 hours. I thought about not going because I don't have a date or any plans with friends. But I got a pretty dress and I'm super excited because prom is expensive and I'm gonna rock this bitch. Convinced my friends don't like me, no date, severe social anxiety and prone to meltdowns.
It's gonna be a great night.
Even if you don't have a date or friends, you should still go because you never know what might happen. Go have some fun, either way, the choice is yours <3
I went to mine with my friends. It's really all about the experiences. Going around town all dressed up, drinking too much caffeine, taking pictures together, seeing friends you haven't gotten the chance to talk to in a while. The music didn't start until over an hour into the dance because of technical issues and even then most of what they played was lame, so my friends and I spent most of the time hiding in the theater. The post prom party was a bit more fun, but the only prize I won was a free sandwich from Mcdonalds.
Iām not because Iām hiking the PCT during prom. But even if I were here for prom, it would suck because I had a horrible breakup with my partner of three years this January and I know theyāre bringing their new girlfriend.
I never had a prom, i transferred to homeschool in 10th grade š„² i really dont think i missed out on anything though. Iād rather go to an EDM rave lol- pop music just doesnt do it for me
I went to my senior one because friends of mine were going, and I had an unofficial date.
I skipped my junior one because of other events that I cared about more, and I just didnāt see the appeal of going.
I don't feel like spending 70 bucks for the ticket alone, and another 100+ on a decent suit (this year's prom is formal 1920s themed). That and all my friends are going with their girlfriends. I would be paying somewhere around 200 dollars to sit in a corner for a couple hours.
yup, actually my prom was two weeks ago so i already went lol. the venue my prom took place at sucked and it didnāt help it was raining so the outdoor areas were closed. honestly it wasnāt looking so hot and i didnāt think i would have that much fun. but once the DJ started playing some bangers and more ppl went to the floor it started getting lit. i spent the majority of the night with one of my friends (we agreed to be each otherās ādateā lol) dancing on the floor and it was actually so much fun even though i donāt think of myself as the type to enjoy partying and all. it also felt soo nice to just let loose and not care about anything and seeing others do that as well (especially as a senior w/ college and all).
but tbh i probably wouldnāt have paid $140 for that experience
Nope, Im a senior and just donāt feel like it. I do virtual and co-op though, so I just am not close with anybody from school. Sometimes I worry that I may be missing out, but at the same time, highschool prom isnāt gonna be a massive turning point in my life ya know?
i didnāt go to my high school prom. i was never very close with anybody but had tons of acquaintances. people usually go to dress up or pull up in nice cars or sneak in drinks. so, i didnāt miss out on anything and nor do i regret it at all. iām in college now and itās great. plus saved tons of money and fake smiles from the school lol
No, I donāt like parties, besides I donāt wanna have to spend a bunch of money on something I know I would just leave from early. Also the theme was boring, itās at some place thatās far away, and i canāt just leave early if I want to, and I would be home pretty late if I go.Im probably gonna spend that evening doing something else anyways.
Iā¦ might be? Itās a bit of a messy situation, my girlfriend is going with my ex-girlfriend as friends and only just told me for sure what she was doing yesterday, so since I was waiting to hear from her I dumbly didnāt make other plans, so I either go alone or I just donāt go. It is what it is I guess
Itās been an interesting few monthsā¦ we went on our first date about two months ago and I was going to ask her to prom at that point but it felt like it was too soon at the time, and then the day after my ex asked her to go and she said yes. A week or two went by and I asked her what her plan is for prom because I would love to go as her date, and she said she wasnāt sure yet but sheās love to be my date if she was able to, and that sheād get back to me. A month or so went by, we became official and for the most part things were going great, beside the whole prom thing. I asked her a few times if she knew what her plan was and she kept saying sheād ask the group she was going to figure it out and sheād get back to me. She finally got back to me a few days ago(prom is next week) telling me she wouldnāt be able to do anything with me for prom. So now I donāt really have a group or anyone to go with so Iāll probably just end up staying home
Hell Nah.
I've never been one for dances. I went to one in middle school and just played wordscapes the whole time. To me, personally, they're boring and a waste of money.
Iām not,
1) Because itās not practical. Itās super expensive at my school, at $175 for tickets (on top of our $200 senior dues), and itās being held two hours away from my house. Since my family doesnāt have a car, I would have to add on $150 ish dollars for transport. My parents can afford it and would be happy to pay, but I just feel like for the level of enjoyment Iāll have at prom Iād rather them spend the money to buy me a nicer graduation present or some new clothes for college.
2) Itās socially stressful. When you get prom tickets, everyone is forced to form a group of 8 people to sit at a table. All my friends run in different circles, and not all of them are even going. Trying to figure out who would include me in their table and which groups I would be able to join was just causing me way too much anxiety. I also donāt have a date.
I'm only going because a friend who graduated early is going, and I managed to find a dress for $5 at a garage sale. We also have fairly cheap ticket prices, $75 per person. Honestly, I think it'll just be a fun way to end things off, plus my friends and I (about 5 of us, including me) are planning on getting IHOP afterwards and just driving around. I wouldn't drop hundreds into it, though.
Just go. Yeah people will say they didnāt go and they donāt regret it but donāt let that influence your decision. and I was in the same spot as you this year, debating on going because I didnt have a date. But I realized that I have 2 options. 1. Donāt go, then have a chance of regretting it. 2. Go, not like it, then my life is the same after . You only have 1 prom, so just go because it doesnāt hurt. I didnāt really enjoy it that much but Iām really glad I went because now I donāt have to wonder āwhat ifā
I just got back from prom, it was my first time and I had a date and I really like him and I've known him since 1st grade but it was pretty mid. We weren't really into dancing and there wasnt much to do lol. I recommend staying home with your friends and watching a movie š¤
To be honest, I am a senior also. My prom starts on a Sunday. I ain't going there because I can't see myself having fun and I don't have any friends + half of my friends ended up in college already so I am already at a disadvantage but I don't really care about school events anyways. My older siblings is able to go to her senior prom and she had fun since she got friends in her high school before she went to college. I am different since I didn't have no interest in joining clubs due to how bad my grade throughout my school years and wanted to focus on class and not any clubs or sports. So, overall, I really don't care and would listen to music I want to play or chill at home during prom day.
You should go, even if itās only for half an hour. You donāt want to regret missing your one chance at prom. Maybe ask someone to go with you even if itās as a friend. Donāt regret doing nothing
I'm pretty certain I won't regret going I also don't wanna force myself to do something I know I don't want to do. It's also too late for me to go anyway since they're not selling tickets anymore.
No, my friends arenāt going and I donāt have a date so thereās point in me spending $85 for a lonely night of standing in a corner while other people dance.
Yes because my mom forced me too, I get really overstimulated by the loud music and the crowds but she got so angry at me for not wanting too š. Said I had to be a ānormal teenage girlā for once.
Actually funny story i didnāt go to prom in high school because i didnāt really want to nor did I have a girlfriend at the time but the year after i met my senior girlfriend and we went to her prom, we both had no intentions of actually going it we did, it was lame and kinda boring so if you skip out donāt feel like you missed anything because you wonāt, but itās also a good way to make memories with someone
Mines already passed but I did not go and I will not go my 12th grade year either- reasons why- 1. I do online school and am not interested in talking to anyone I never interacted with 2. Iād have to drive 3 hours to even get there 3. Thereās nobody to even go with. So yeah
I went to my junior prom and it was a shit show. I scammed the school into a free ticket and STILL wanted my money back after because of what happened. So hereās a rundown. (For reference, I go to a public high school in the suburbs thatās primarily made up of white wanna be country kids that are almost all raging bigots)
-you werenāt aloud to drive yourself to prom.
-you were not aloud to leave the building once you were inside. You had to stay till prom was over and you had to leave at exactly 11:00.
-they had two pages worth of guidelines for girls (and obsoletely none for boys.) and refused to let in at least 15 girls āfor there dresses.ā
-the school had payed for the basic venue package, which closed off everything except the lobby, the bathrooms, and one singular ballroom.
-the school hired the hallway monitors as āsecurityā even though the venue had its own private security that the school REFUSED to allow in to do there jobs. The hallway monitors all have a reputation for being Pervy with the students.
-the whole building was over run with seniors who were going to both junior and senior prom.
-someone deliberately threw a Shirley temple on a guy who was wearing a white button up, and he kept screaming āTHIS IS VERSACE!ā And tried to swing on the guy who thew it at him and security picked the guy up who was screaming and literally THREW him onto the pavement outside.
-they hired a DJ, and had a google form on every prom table that linked to a song request form, but the music was total shit. They didnāt play anything i or anyone I knew suggested. It was all stuff from 2015 to 2019, and I found out why when I saw behind the turn table that the āDJā was playing music off of one of those ātop 40ā YouTube video playlists.
-They closed the bathrooms halfway through the night because ātoo meany people were vapingā
-because the music was so bad, basically no one danced all night, and people only came out onto the floor twice: for āthe boxā and āmo bambaā. (Both of which were clean.) during āthe boxā people were shout-singing the regular version, and the principal made the dj PAUSE THE SONG and got on the mic to tell us āweāre not aloud to use that language at prom and if we do they will kick us all out.ā So when everyone came out for āmo bambaā, it was different. Instead of singing the song, they started lifting a bunch of the football players in the air so they were crowd surfing. This happened the whole song until again, part way through, the principal got on the mic and said we had to stop doing that or we would get kicked out, and everyone was so fed up the entire crowd literally booed her for 5 minutes straight until she got off the platform and the music started back up.
-some girl and her friends were trying to jump (I guess) her ex boyfriend and were screaming about how she was pregnant and it was his and literally the whole room was watching until she got kicked out by āsecurity.ā
-when they started serving food, they tried to go table by table, but about half the room just booked it and they kicked out about a quarter of them. Food also tasted like ass, it was the most bland dull flavorless shit Iāve ever tasted.
-the last song of the night they played was ādonāt stop believinā because of fucking course it was.
-someoneās ride home was a huge suspended truck, and because of how thin the drive way was, whoever was driving the truck drove over the floral display in front of the building and completely destroyed it
-I left my umbrella behind (because it was raining that night) and when I tried to go back into get it, the āsecurity guardā pushed me over and locked the door behind him.
It was the actual worst. Itās actually so bad that not only am I not going to senior prom, but Iām not going to graduation or anything else that is school sponsored. Besides, I dumped my ex and all my old friends a few months ago, so me and the friends I have now are just gonna dress up and get stoned/wasted. Itāll be more fun.
Iām not going to prom because
a. Iām a freshman and it feels weird to attend prom as a freshman even though weāre allowed to at my school
and b. my dadās in the hospital rn and Iām too busy worrying about him
Only a sophomore, but when I get to being a junior, absolutely not. I hate crowds, I dislike loud music, I just really don't enjoy being around a lot of people, I can't stand it. Stuff like prom really, really is not my thing
I didnāt go to junior prom because I didnāt want to pay $50 I went to senior prom and regretted it because I was alone so I just left 2 hrs early at least the food was good and I got a outfit I liked
https://preview.redd.it/i0nso8e964xc1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e042d044a3a73fe28562c6b94992fc529a37a47
Iām gonna go to the gym, stay home, get drunk and play Helldivers 2 because Super Earth needs me.
Why?
1. Because the entry fee is $170-190, canāt remember which but itās still expensive.
2. Most of the people that are going are people that Iāve never talked to, donāt want to talk to or people that know me enough to not give a flying fuck about me.
3. I donāt think I wanna dance with anyone.
I would go if Yāknow, I had a date, a girlfriend or something like that but unfortunately that didnāt happen so womp womp.
![gif](giphy|ahfzlUrb5IEfXC6kbm|downsized)
I didn't go my junior year and I don't think I will this year either. Just because I find most of my class insufferable and tolerate them in class and only one of my friends are really still pushing me to go and he is the only one who is definitely going and he says you can just go alone but that rich when he has a number of girls asking him to go so it just doesn't seem like it would be much fun. Plus I don't like the type of music the rest of my class does so it's just not going to be fun for me.
No because 1) I donāt have a date so I would just awkwardly drift around and 2) we had a different dance and my freind that I went with abandoned me in the first 10 minutes and it ended up not being that fun
Nopeā tickets are expensive, music is too loud, I donāt like crowds, and I hated homecomingā¦ I see no reason to go tbh other than people telling me to do so
Nope. My friends and I donāt plan to go, and I donāt like social gatherings or parties. Pretty much an introvert so Iād be sitting in the corner the whole time.
Bro GO! Your only in high school once and prom is one of the greatest parts of high school. I didnāt have lots of friends to go to prom with or a date and I didnāt even want to go. But my parents forced me and Iām glad they did because I found a girl to dance with at prom and it was really fun. Donāt miss out on memories
High school senior here, not going for two reasons:
1) Was given the option between prom or a tattoo(Chose tattoo and don't regret it at all)
2) Super loud, don't really like that and don't like school dances/events either since they're often extremely loud with music to the point where I feel extremely overwhelmed and want to cry
I went to my prom a few weeks ago and it was nice. Maybe Iām biased because Iām a class officer so I organized it but we had fun š dances are a little awkward without your friends, but when I let myself just be a teenage girl at a dance, I have a lot of fun and make good memories.
Graduated last year (not sure why I am still in this subreddit) but I did go to prom, I am a guy. I went for 15 minutes, ate the food and left to go to my friends house. A bunch of people said itās awesome but I donāt regret it one bit.
Iām prob not gonna go to prom due to the same reasons as you. Iām thinking about going to grad night but Iāve heard from people that no oneās really going so idk if Iām gonna go to that either.
No. Been to one school dance throughout high school and a couple parties. Itās the most boring way I could spend my night. Loud music and bright lights and nothing to do.
This popped up in my feed so I'll answer. Full disclosure, I'm 34. I went to 2 different proms in my day, and although I was uncomfortable and felt like a loser at the time, both were worth it. You never know what you're missing out on when you say no to things
Probably can't, my dad despises high school dances and is worried I'll get drugged by the punch. Plus, me and my partner are in a queer relationship and our parents are homophobic, so we've kept it a secret from them. Prom would have too many people who know us and our parents directly. We'll probably end up doing something on our own.
I did because I somehow pulled the hottest girl in my school, it was super awkward because it was both our first times going to a dance with someone but it was still a good time.
I snuck into mine a couple yrs ago. Wasn't good at all. Left with a junior girl and we made out in the back baseball field, we had to leave cuz teachers caught us lol.
i went, i mean my bsfs went and i had a date, it was a fun night, itās also supposed to be like milestone in life yk. i would have gone without a date and just friends or vice versa too, because itās not fun when u go on ur own, unless youāre someone who enjoys your own company (itās good to, iām slowly trying to learn to)
I do not plan on going to my senior prom, neither went to my junior prom as well. Not because I donāt have a girlfriend, but itās because Iām not someone that likes to wear anything fancy. Iām more like someone that likes to wear just basic clothing like a t-shirt and jeans.
Iām going to prom even though basically all year Iāve repeated how much I donāt want to go. I donāt have friends and I didnāt want to go for āthe experienceā everyone talks about. The people who say āitās a once in a lifetime opportunityā are usually outgoing people who enjoy gatherings. Iām a very anxious person so even if I brought my cousin or something it would just feel awkward.
Anyway a boy asked for my number a month ago and he had been showing signs that he liked me. Even though we didnāt have class together he attempted to talk to me in the hallways and at my locker. I just asked him over text if he liked me and myself being bold in the moment asked who was he taking to prom and he said āyou?ā. Iām going with him now itās nice to know he likes me but Iām a bad texter. I also donāt want the experience to be awkward so now I have to try and step out of my shell and converse with him. Hopefully all goes well in two weeks.
I went last night even though I was in a car wreck Friday and I got drugged last prom lmao
I enjoyed myself and so did my friends and date. It doesnāt matter if you have a date or not, go for yourself. Youāre most likely going to regret it in the future if you donāt.
I didnāt go to prom back when I was in high school because Iām usually introverted, so I donāt have the extroverted energy lots of other people have. Also I thought I was supposed to have a gf in order to go.
I see a lot of comments saying they are not going to prom. While at the end of the day it is your choice whether you go or not, I strongly recommend every high schooler to attend prom.
Both Junior & Senior year. When you get older itās just great memories to be able to look back on, also the pictures from prom night will always be nice to look back on. I went to Prom 4 times when I was high school. Two of which were my proms, one was a friend from another school, & the final prom I went to was my ex-gfās. Every single one was an amazing time and memories I cherish to this day.
Nope, prom was yesterday for us ā I havenāt gone to a dance since elementary (when I lived in a different state). Iāve realized throughout highschool that Iām not much of a people-person and I frequently find the ābadā in people (pessimism). Plus, I donāt like to wear dresses.
I am not. I dont have any friends to even party with when iām there, and I dont even think iād enjoy it if I were to go. People keep telling me to go but ik they wonāt hang with me when im there. I dont like being alone at ecents
i went to prom with just my date bc none of my friends went and i had sm fun!! i love dancing and partying even tho it was kinda awkward at first bc no one dance. our venue was super cool and provided like snacks and drinks but the music was trashy.Ā
iām not. I learned from my schools homecoming that it isnāt enjoyable for me. I donāt like to dance whereas all my friends do, and I donāt have a date. I can better enjoy my night at home.
Yeah I went my junior year but my gf wasnāt able to since she was a sophomore and her mom didnāt want her to go. It was alright, I got in trouble for dancing with another girl š¬
no because me and my bf are long distance so he cant go with me, i dont wanna go with my friends just to watch them grind on each other, and i really don't understand the hype of it.
I went to prom like 2 weeks ago and it was honestly boring, I went with my boyfriend but really the only reason why it was boring was because the music that was playing and overall we both just were not feeling it but I do feel like if we were in a big friend group it would of made a difference but we left like an hour into prom and did our own thing which made the night 10x better. But I do think its overrated especially the amount of money you spend for a one time thing and I can't return my dress so it'll just collect dust in my closet until i find something to do with it.
My junior prom is in like 3 weeks but they stopped selling tickets like 2 weeks ago š I have acquaintances and some kinda friends but I donāt have anyone who I hang out with after school or do things on the weekend with š which I could honestly care less about but for prom you need a date or some close friends to go with or else youāll have a good chance of being alone. Plus you canāt really just walk up to a random friend group and ask if you can dance with them because thatād be weird and if you donāt pick a specific table to eat at youāll be placed at a random table and have to eat with randoms so that would be awkward.
Anyways thatās my excuse š, honestly I could go and itād work itself out but my social anxiety would skyrocket and Iād probably just sit at the table pretending to be on my phoneā¦ Tbh if you have good friends then youāll have a good time but I donāt really have that soooooo š„± š„¶
My bf and I decided not to go to junior prom, but we probably will next year. Tickets were really expensive and I didn't want to have to buy a dress, plus it's just stressful
I went and I really enjoyed it, although I almost didnāt becuase I couldnāt invite anyone outside of the school- which was absurd, couldnāt invite my freshmen friends either becuase it was apparently āweirdā to invite a girl when youāre one.
But anyways yeah I made some friends there which was nice, but idk it wouldāve been better with my real friends
We donāt have prom we have banquet. Iām going, I have a date and itās a great venue and tickets werenāt too bad this year. Weāre not allowed to dance with the opposite gender so even without all the typical prom stuff I still wanna get the most out of the experience that I can. We donāt have winter formals or hoco dances either so I take advantage of what weāre given. Even if we did have prom and I didnāt have a date and my friends werenāt going, Iād still go bc why not, you only go to high school once so get the most out of it and take every opportunity.
Went my senior year with my buddy, didn't really have fun, DJ was about to stop playing all together because people were throwing bottles around his equipment.
I'm from SEA and I wouldn't be caught dead not attending junior prom. The food is the ABSOLUTE BOMB.
I'm looking forward to stuffing my face with leche flan, crispy lechon and halo-halo while dancing and screwing around with my friends. The prom's held next to a beach too so even better!
I am! I went to junior prom last year with friends and had fun. Not my favorite kind of event but I'm glad I went. Going to senior prom most likely with just friends this year and I'm excited!
Hope you have a great time!
my school charged 200 for entry, i dont think its worth it
200?! ya'll gettin scammed
THATS WHAT I SAID, AND PEOPLE STILL WENT
for 200 they gotta provide suits, dresses and a ride there
i heard the food was ass too, and from the school's intagram the room was small af
i know for a fact there were people that paid 200 to go just to stand in the back doing nothing
i bought a 200$ ticket because everyone was going and i got FOMO. feels like a huge scam but at least our venue seems okay šĀ
and I thought 5ā¬ was expensive
No way mine was 40 šš
How bro our school charges 15 dollars š
man they are charging 100 for prom and i really donāt knowš
i went last night and i had so much fun (we went to ihop afterwards) https://preview.redd.it/hpz0it7fn3xc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae183e35ed55cdbf50f89f32371f3ebe4e82f3d2 im the one sitting on top of the marble fountain thing lol
The 3rd dude from the far right is ballin
Wait.... I know that place. Is that Minnehaha falls??
How does that process work by the way? Does your friend who youāre inviting need any paperwork or things of that nature?
ask your school what they think except bringing guests
i went when i was a junior and it's was okay. nothing special. the highlight was going to cracker barrel before and eating pancakes, then going bowling till 1am. that was fun. so for senior year, i'm not going cause i don't have anyone to go with and i just don't really care
funny how the highlight was everything BUT prom lmaooo
No itās a tiktok rizz party
I can tell you rizz me rizz rizz rizz rizzš£ļøš£ļøš£ļøš„š„š„
My prom was last night. I had a lot of fun and went with some friends, but the music sucked and I felt a bit awkward dancing because I wasn't that into most of the songs and none of my friends really wanted to dance. Had a lot of fun getting ready and taking pics with them though
Prom starts in about 2-3 hours. I thought about not going because I don't have a date or any plans with friends. But I got a pretty dress and I'm super excited because prom is expensive and I'm gonna rock this bitch. Convinced my friends don't like me, no date, severe social anxiety and prone to meltdowns. Update lol- prom is kinda overrated and I've cried more times than I'd like to admit, but I still look hot so it was a win <3
This would've been very inspirational if it wasn't already too late for me to go. Hope you have fun at your prom tho!
No, because I am friends with no one and I am already embarassed enough.
And also because youre a freshman lmaoo
Some schools have freshman dances
I mean you got time tho since you're a freshman
I went to mine with my friends. It's really all about the experiences. Going around town all dressed up, drinking too much caffeine, taking pictures together, seeing friends you haven't gotten the chance to talk to in a while. The music didn't start until over an hour into the dance because of technical issues and even then most of what they played was lame, so my friends and I spent most of the time hiding in the theater. I never had a prom, i transferred to homeschool in 10th grade š„² i really dont think i missed out on anything though. Iād rather go to an EDM rave lol- pop music just doesnt do it for me
Real raves are so much more fun I went to Shrek rave and enjoyed it more than prom
I went to a REZZ show once and I already know it was 1 million times better than a prom wouldve beenš
same my class had to miss it because of covid in 2021 because someone got a positive test result
No I'm a junior
No because im too scared to go alone and not enough balls to ask someone
I went to my senior one because friends of mine were going, and I had an unofficial date. I skipped my junior one because of other events that I cared about more, and I just didnāt see the appeal of going.
I don't feel like spending 70 bucks for the ticket alone, and another 100+ on a decent suit (this year's prom is formal 1920s themed). That and all my friends are going with their girlfriends. I would be paying somewhere around 200 dollars to sit in a corner for a couple hours.
Iām going todat
hope you have fun
No because Iām a sophomore
I'm a Sophomore
The ticket was way too expensive
iām not going cuz iām a freshman, and also iām celebrating my birthday today so iām already busy:3
Happy Birthday!
thank you!!
Proms are trash. Better to just organize parents to collectively rent public park space and leave the schools out of it.
No because I donāt see how people find it fun. I donāt like dancing, so thereās that. Nothing for me to do. Not for me.
yup, actually my prom was two weeks ago so i already went lol. the venue my prom took place at sucked and it didnāt help it was raining so the outdoor areas were closed. honestly it wasnāt looking so hot and i didnāt think i would have that much fun. but once the DJ started playing some bangers and more ppl went to the floor it started getting lit. i spent the majority of the night with one of my friends (we agreed to be each otherās ādateā lol) dancing on the floor and it was actually so much fun even though i donāt think of myself as the type to enjoy partying and all. it also felt soo nice to just let loose and not care about anything and seeing others do that as well (especially as a senior w/ college and all). but tbh i probably wouldnāt have paid $140 for that experience
Same šI have a ton of acquaintances but not really ābest friends foreverā type friends so prom would be just me on my phone
I am because I went to homecoming with my friends and it was so much fun so Iām hoping prom will be just as fun
I didnāt go. I stayed home and played WoW back in the day.
I donāt have proms where I live.
ā
No because it is boring and i would rather sleep
No. It would've cost more to go by myself than with a date.
I skipped my year 12 formal, my advice is you have better things to do than see your classmates then just save your money.
Oh my god?!!
how did that even end up happening???
So now I donāt really have a group or anyone to go with so Iāll probably just end up staying home
iām on my way to prom rn lol. didnāt wanna go a month ago but my man got me to go and i donāt regret ot
Hell Nah. I've never been one for dances. I went to one in middle school and just played wordscapes the whole time. To me, personally, they're boring and a waste of money.
Iām not, 1) Because itās not practical.
I wouldn't drop hundreds into it, though.
iām not because i donāt like the environment, also i have no one to ask and id rather get money
None of my friends were going so I didnāt go
To be honest, I am a senior also.
Why pay 100 dollars to be miserable when I can be miserable for free
š been there
You should go, even if itās only for half an hour.
Yes because there is gambling and I like Texas holdem
No, my friends arenāt going and I donāt have a date so thereās point in me spending $85 for a lonely night of standing in a corner while other people dance.
Nah. Im a freshman
I have no money and no license. I decided I didn't want my parents paying for me to go, getting me a suit, and driving me there as well
ya
yes!! going to my senior prom tonight :) unfortunately got broken up with two weeks ago and am struggling but i'll have fun with my friends tonight
Yes because my mom forced me too, I get really overstimulated by the loud music and the crowds but she got so angry at me for not wanting too š. Said I had to be a ānormal teenage girlā for once.
Yeah, I have so much fun at prom and my friends are going.
I'm not going because my only friend is going with a date
I went to both my junior and senior proms, DON'T miss out on them! I had a blast dancing and having fun with my friends.
No, I have no friends or acquaintances
I went to senior prom, had so much fun!
I went to my junior and my prom, it was cool and really nice tbh. And the asking for a partner was funny ngl
Kinda, my date goes to a different school and proms are on the same day, going to her prom
I never went to prom, didn't even know there was one lol
Mines already passed but I did not go and I will not go my 12th grade year either- reasons why- 1. I do online school and am not interested in talking to anyone I never interacted with 2. Iād have to drive 3 hours to even get there 3. Thereās nobody to even go with. So yeah
Nope. My school doesnāt do prom for freshmen
I went to my junior prom and it was a shit show. I scammed the school into a free ticket and STILL wanted my money back after because of what happened. So hereās a rundown. (For reference, I go to a public high school in the suburbs thatās primarily made up of white wanna be country kids that are almost all raging bigots) -you werenāt aloud to drive yourself to prom. -you were not aloud to leave the building once you were inside. You had to stay till prom was over and you had to leave at exactly 11:00. -they had two pages worth of guidelines for girls (and obsoletely none for boys.) and refused to let in at least 15 girls āfor there dresses.ā -the school had payed for the basic venue package, which closed off everything except the lobby, the bathrooms, and one singular ballroom. -They closed the bathrooms halfway through the night because ātoo meany people were vapingā -because the music was so bad, basically no one danced all night, and people only came out onto the floor twice: for āthe boxā and āmo bambaā. -some girl and her friends were trying to jump (I guess) her ex boyfriend and were screaming about how she was pregnant and it was his and literally the whole room was watching until she got kicked out by āsecurity.ā -when they started serving food, they tried to go table by table, but about half the room just booked it and they kicked out about a quarter of them. Food also tasted like ass, it was the most bland dull flavorless shit Iāve ever tasted. -the last song of the night they played was ādonāt stop believinā because of fucking course it was. -someoneās ride home was a huge suspended truck, and because of how thin the drive way was, whoever was driving the truck drove over the floral display in front of the building and completely destroyed it -I left my umbrella behind (because it was raining that night) and when I tried to go back into get it, the āsecurity guardā pushed me over and locked the door behind him.
Iām not going to prom because a. Iām a freshman and it feels weird to attend prom as a freshman even though weāre allowed to at my school and b. my dadās in the hospital rn and Iām too busy worrying about him
Nope, Iām a sophomore, and not interested
Only a sophomore, but when I get to being a junior, absolutely not. I hate crowds, I dislike loud music, I just really don't enjoy being around a lot of people, I can't stand it. Stuff like prom really, really is not my thing
Iām going to prom as a sophomore because my friend is a junior and she didnāt have a date.
I didnāt go to junior prom because I didnāt want to pay $50 I went to senior prom and regretted it because I was alone so I just left 2 hrs early at least the food was good and I got a outfit I liked https://preview.redd.it/i0nso8e964xc1.jpeg?width=2316&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7e042d044a3a73fe28562c6b94992fc529a37a47
That outfit is sick
in the grand scheme of things it doesnt matter, like at all. do whatever you want
iām not going because iām in online school and thereās no prom
Well, probably not this year. Iām graduated
Iām taking one of my friends and my friend is taking me to his! Iām actually on my way to his house rn for it :D
No because 1) I donāt have a date so I would just awkwardly drift around and 2) we had a different dance and my freind that I went with abandoned me in the first 10 minutes and it ended up not being that fun
My senior prom was a week ago, I went with a small group of friends and it was so much fun!! Literally one of the best nights of the semesterš
Nopeā tickets are expensive, music is too loud, I donāt like crowds, and I hated homecomingā¦ I see no reason to go tbh other than people telling me to do so
No 1st reason it's 90 bucks a person to get in 2 date dosent want to go 3nl barley no one in my school is going
I have nobody to go with.
No because high cost, no date, and no friends
I didnāt because autism. Loud noises + lots of people=bad. I slept in then spent the afternoon at the library playing video games with my girlfriend
High school senior here, not going for two reasons: 1) Was given the option between prom or a tattoo(Chose tattoo and don't regret it at all) 2) Super loud, don't really like that and don't like school dances/events either since they're often extremely loud with music to the point where I feel extremely overwhelmed and want to cry
I went to my prom a few weeks ago and it was nice. Maybe Iām biased because Iām a class officer so I organized it but we had fun š dances are a little awkward without your friends, but when I let myself just be a teenage girl at a dance, I have a lot of fun and make good memories.
I didnāt go because my school didnāt have one.
i might, i probably wonāt tho we shall see
I am graduating in a week and did not go to a single prom, I'm not sure if I'll regret this later in life or not
Hell naw it's boring as hell I spent the night playing Fortnite with the boys
You have to be an upperclassman at my school to go to prom, and I'm a sophomore.
I wish but my school doesn't have proms
No friends, no money š
Graduated last year (not sure why I am still in this subreddit) but I did go to prom, I am a guy. I went for 15 minutes, ate the food and left to go to my friends house. A bunch of people said itās awesome but I donāt regret it one bit.
I'm going when I'm a senior because they get good food bro.
Iām prob not gonna go to prom due to the same reasons as you. Iām thinking about going to grad night but Iāve heard from people that no oneās really going so idk if Iām gonna go to that either.
I ain't, I was at a track meet, as for why. I'm a freshman
Skipped the life experiences, skipped yearbook
No. Been to one school dance throughout high school and a couple parties. Itās the most boring way I could spend my night. Loud music and bright lights and nothing to do.
I went to prom. Felt invisible and overlooked. But I had fun when dancing.
At my school you need to pay for tickets And you also need to pay for the food and drinks. So i always stay at home!
No because my parents won't let me, I mean if I went I'd go alone but I'd still like to see shit go down
This popped up in my feed so I'll answer. Full disclosure, I'm 34. I went to 2 different proms in my day, and although I was uncomfortable and felt like a loser at the time, both were worth it. You never know what you're missing out on when you say no to things
flair, I could also use that 140 and do normal sophomore stuff, like vbucks
Probably can't, my dad despises high school dances and is worried I'll get drugged by the punch. Plus, me and my partner are in a queer relationship and our parents are homophobic, so we've kept it a secret from them. Prom would have too many people who know us and our parents directly. We'll probably end up doing something on our own.
I went to prom yesterday, had an absolute blast
I did because I somehow pulled the hottest girl in my school, it was super awkward because it was both our first times going to a dance with someone but it was still a good time.
I just had my senior prom. Lowkey lame but the ice cream was good
I snuck into mine a couple yrs ago.
I donāt have prom
I went last night even though I was in a car wreck Friday and I got drugged last prom lmao I enjoyed myself and so did my friends and date.
No, waste of money/time.
Nope. Single sophomore
Went to junior prom and that was asssss
I am going. This year I don't have any friends going, but I plan on talking to people
I didn't get invited by an upperclassman so noo š
Nope, Freshmen arenāt allowed to go
i went to prom with just my date bc none of my friends went and i had sm fun!! i love dancing and partying even tho it was kinda awkward at first bc no one dance. our venue was super cool and provided like snacks and drinks but the music was trashy.Ā
lol that sucks. At least the food was nice š
Dude this is the exact reason I'm not going. It's just hard to have fun without anyone you know
No. (i'm to young and no girl would want me)
iām not. I learned from my schools homecoming that it isnāt enjoyable for me. I donāt like to dance whereas all my friends do, and I donāt have a date. I can better enjoy my night at home.
No. My country doesn't have that š§š¾āāļø
No because Iām not in high school
I skipped two years in a row
I'm not going to prom because I don't like the environment of people to begin with.
Is It Free?
went to junior prom with my bff last year, but it just wasnāt my thingāØgonna spend that money on celebrating my graduation next month
Yeah I went my junior year but my gf wasnāt able to since she was a sophomore and her mom didnāt want her to go. It was alright, I got in trouble for dancing with another girl š¬
Go to prom bud
no because the ap chem exam is 2 days after š
I didn't go to any proms. Too expensive and I hated all the other people that went.
i'm going with all the high school members of the gsa, who i'm friends with. (yes, all of them. there's at least 20 of us, maybe.)
no because me and my bf are long distance so he cant go with me, i dont wanna go with my friends just to watch them grind on each other, and i really don't understand the hype of it.
Our school charges $150
Tickets were really expensive and I didn't want to have to buy a dress, plus it's just stressful
i didnāt go to mine, me n my friends just stayed home playing minecraft and i donāt regret it one bit
Nah I went fishing and to the gym and to work, nobody I really liked was there so I wouldnāt have had a fun time
nah my school charging 150 for a ticket hell noš
No because i donāt have a date lmao
Went my senior year with my buddy, didn't really have fun, DJ was about to stop playing all together because people were throwing bottles around his equipment.
No. I moved cross country my junior year. I had nobody. I spent that night getting drunk and crying.
Nah, gotta study for these IB exams š¤
No , there is no such thing in my country.
