Production. Not a big fan of gangster rappers, but Freddie is pretty much the only one I listen to from that sub genre because he worked with alchemist and madlib. He’s also not a one dimensional lyrical miracle spiritual rapper. He has trap slappers, chill songs, sad songs. I appreciate variation so that’s another plus he has. His lyrical ability is okay for his genre and style but his rhythm is one of the best in the game. He’s pretty much mastered the fast choppy flow and abuses it often but still somehow it works most of the times which is credit to how good he is at it

loose_lucid_elusive4

Plus, he does that melodic, Bone Thugs-esq flow nicely.

KuntaWuKnicks

I’m a sucker for cocaine rap he’s one of the best of the modern era to do it

bggstbawse

Gibbs ooze confidence and realness. Thuggin is still one of the hardest track I ever listened. He can ride any beat and murder it pretty easily.

CellGaming

The best for me

KuntaWuKnicks

More than Raekwon Ghostface Pusha T?

CellGaming

I like Pusha but Freddie has more diversity with flow. And I consider Rae and Ghost more old school even if they’re still releasing

F4N6Z

Can't blame you. 94 was 20 years ago, they're old school legends. Gangsta Gibbs is good at coke rap that's for sure.

YoungJohnJoe

'94 was 30 years ago my dude.

F4N6Z

😫written before my coffee, thanks G

YoungJohnJoe

Honest mistake. I wish it was 20 years ago. Lol

F4N6Z

Oh same here.

weegsie

What? Do you mean why do I also like him?

CellGaming

Yes

weegsie

Good flows, very charismatic on the mic, great beat selection, he can rap on anything. I’m also a sucker for Coke rap. He can rap about the same shit for his whole career and it’s amazing every time.

_cptplanet

Great smooth vocal and amazing flow. One of the best living rappers when it comes to that

CellGaming

Yeah I don’t often like that kinda choppy flow but it works with his deep voice

MagKnown

What choppy flow?

Mei_iz_my_bae

His flow is incredible. His body of work is great. Hes the real deal and my fav current rapper forsure.

altersackmur

He has a top 3 voice in hiphop for me. That voice combined with his flow and the production is just perfect.

Silk_Duey

For me, it’s the technical abilities. He flows on beats effortlessly and find pockets like no other. He’s one of the few rappers who can rap over an Alchemist beat, then the next song he’s on a Young Chop beat and it sounds just a good. Right after that he’s on a Kenny or Conductor beat and still never slowed down. Then it’s the bars. He has the best Basketball/NBA lines I’ve ever heard. His cocaine raps are rivaled only by Pusha T and Andre Nickatina. He’s funny af. A literal comedian who keeps thoroughly me entertained each and every project. And the body of work. He has such an extensive and consistent discography. He’s been rapping at a GOAT level since 2009. Gangsta Gibbs ho. 2 bitches cookin in the crib ho. A quarter kilo and some kool-aid in the fridge ho.

chelicerate-claws

His voice is distinctive, his flow is top-tier, and he works with producers that complement his skills. He's my personal favorite rapper.

Wutanghang

Eh

kazmir_yeet

Really compelling point you made, currently rethinking whether or not Freddie Gibbs is as fire as I thought he was.

Wutanghang

Ehhhhh

kazmir_yeet

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh

Wutanghang

Fr though gibbs is so boring all he does is talk about selling cocaine that gets boring fast

kazmir_yeet

You know you can listen to him in moderation right

Wutanghang

His songs aren't replayable

hodasho1

I need to listen to more by him. Gold Rings is one of my favorites at the moment

JrMackVA

He reminds me of Krayzie Bone so much

JaggaJazz

Freddie's flow and his beats are hype as fuck

TheMonaldRcDonald

Freddie is a pretty good actor. He was really good in Iron Man 2.

tnishantha

He’s also pretty diverse with the concepts of his albums, like Freddie, The Madlib albums of course, but also Fetti and You Only Live 2wice. He’s one of the few modern rappers I think that grows and adapts his style. He’s been on my radar since his early mixtapes like The Labels Trying To Kill Me and The Miseducation. Still love that oldschool raw uncut Gibbs like The Empire Strikes Back track.

Ghostface-Meechy

Gibbs is great. Pinata with Madlib was the first album I heard of his and it was superb. Since that album, I became a fan and have picked up every album since. He has a great voice for rap and he's able to switch up his flow when necessary. I would love to hear him over some Dr Dre beats. But anyway, always looking forward to his next project.

CellGaming

Pinata is a 10 for me

Joshwithsauce

Hes in my all time top 3 for sure. His lyrics are often dark and vulgar which is attractive to me, because he has no filter on sharing what hes seen and experienced in his lifetime. I feel like the core of hiphop is speaking up on struggles and giving a piece of your mind. Then there’s his delivery of those lyrics, his deep voice and energy are amazing.

CellGaming

Exactly!

Malcolm-XWithThePerm

He probably have the best flow of all time and he is funny, honest and have a lotta humor for sure in my current top 3. I hope he will start making music again we need Alfredo 2

Krock23

He's the total package. Voice, flow, pen, creativity, humour.    His ear for beats is greater than everyone else too.

Strawhat-Shawty

He's def slept on. His old shyt with curren$y will always slap. Also when he did something to rap about with Tyler the creator showed his style can mesh with even the most oddball rap

meth_panther

I think You Only Live 2wice is a modern classic

DaddyDoubleDoinks

Dark hearted is an anthem. I don’t care what anyone says.

kazmir_yeet

Rabbit Vision, PYS, and Dark Hearted is an ansanely good 3 track run

External-Client-4295

Watching him rap his own shit live, and actually rapping it without anyone helping him out.

tillobtillinson

I saw him live and he just has so much charisma and seems like he’s having a good time. His goofy personality makes his whole coke rap persona a lot more fun

fam1lystr0kez

Benny the butcher for me. I like Freddie too though, sucks they had that fall out.

Taxmancometh1

Love Freddie but I actually don’t think he’s too lyrical. What makes him stand out is how iconic his voice is. It’s a gift from god. When your voice sounds that cool, you’re automatically gonna bring something to the table not a lot can. His flow is incredible and pretty versatile considering his lyrics aren’t too heady

Nearby_Tumbleweed548

Beat selection and diverse flows

vibe_out

Freddie is one of my favorites! For me, he’s the perfect juxtaposition of hard and soft. His barbecue sauce voice over the softer melodic beats is just everything to me!!! Ugh I love him!!!!

JeremyXVI

Inventive, great beats and collabs, flows, bars and rhyme schemes. Ages like wine, very consistent discography
