I think this would be hard to find, thanks to the lack of written sources. Maybe from ethiopia?

You are too broad, Africa is the largest continent and has a large diaspora. There is tons of literature on South Africa to narrow your focus. Couple things look up Khoi Khoikhoi people. Some of the books will talk about impact of colonization but how the roles changed Other themes migrant labour to work in gold and diamond mines Role of women, agency entrepreneurship in beer brewing & prostitution. Because of the need for migrant labour. A couple of books, Comforts of home Hostels sexuality and the apartheid legacy Liquor and labor in South Africa.

OP asked about the time before colonization, although you are Right in some aspects. I don‘t know where, but a few days ago some other user asked a similar question and someone mentioned digitalized archives out of the West-subsaharan room. So my answer isn‘t correct, but i learned something new :)

As another commenter said, "Africa" is too broad for this query, but you could search up specific cultures. You could definitely find information about the kandake/candaces of Kush, like Amanirenas.
