[or Gobert gettin choked out by Draymond?](https://youtu.be/LQb8dK4MC-E?si=0XT65RipnlzgZcHU&t=114)
also never heard anyone just call him Karl Towns lol
He went by Karl Towns in highschool. Look up an article about him back then and thats what it will call him. His father goes by Karl Towns Sr. IIRC someone in the recruiting game (coach, media, etc.) Didn't like him and started telling people to call him by his full name and it stuck. Towns hated people calling him KAT at first.
"You know I see the guys out there putting guys in choke holds and things like that. YOU DON'T DO THAT. A good true Canadian kid would never do that. Ekblad should know better! Everyone knows that the right thing to do is you go to the guy and YOU DROP THE GLOVES. YOU DON'T CHOKE THE PLAYER! That's a european thing! You have guys coming over from russia or sweden where they think as long as they're not droppin the gloves they're not fighting. Can you imagine a them trying to choke a policeman like a Bobby Probert, or a Wendel Clarke?! It wouldn't happen, and it shouldn't happen! These guys go to worlds, or the olympics and they're slashing and choking guys. All because these guys got their helmets, and their visors they don't think they can hurt somebody. They think they're invincible out there. You woulda never seen it when I played and there was some honour in the game! Get rid of the choking. Let the guys sort it out by dropping the gloves and you'll see a lot less injuries!"
The Oilers and their record breaking lethal unstoppable offense... 5 shots after 2 periods. They are channeling last round Dallas who was channeling the Canucks
It doesn't help that they attack whoever is in front of the neck after the whistle, putting them in a chokehold. How is that legal? Florida has been getting away with that all through the playoffs.
I know people are making jokes in the comments but this shit is dangerous as hell and there’s no way this should ever be allowed. I’d suspend him just to set a tone that this shit can’t happen.
He should be suspended. Also, the spear to the nuts should be a suspension. Of course, none of it will result in a suspension because the NHL is run by a bunch of spinless idiots. Neither of those plays are hockey plays and both are clear purposeful attempts to hurt another player. In any other sport outside UFC it would be a suspension.
It's not even the choking Im worried about, but *dragging* him along the ice by his neck seems like a great way to permanently fuck someone up. These guys weigh 220-240lbs with their equipment, that's a lot of stress on the neck vertebrae.
> In any other sport outside UFC it would be a suspension.
NHL sees UFC as competition. They're toeing a line between having to look like they care about concussions and injuries and moving the sport back to pre-lockout times. If it bleeds it leads.
I wholeheartedly agree, I'm not gonna defend Carrick, that was fucking stupid.
If fans said they wanted to see their players choking the other team they would get called psycho, yet when it actually happens it's apparently fine.
Ekblad also two hand grabbed McDavid's helmet and yanked his head when he lost his stick, that actually could paralyze him, it's a roll of the dice.
Draisaitl should get a fine for his garbage hit on Barkov, as should Bennett for his charging + elbow on Broberg's head.
People don’t realize how dangerous it is to fuck around with this stuff.
In full seriousness, people should learn about the risks of doing anything that affects breathing, even without any intent to injure. u/BillThePsycho [has a good comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/skP9elfaOA) with good replies in these comments about how crazy risky this is.
The tldr of it is that there’s pretty much no safe way to do it. Importantly, people are almost always very unaware of and bad at estimating:
a) their own strength
b) how little force it takes to stop someone from breathing
c) how quickly a completely harmless moment can turn fatal (or risk serious injury) in the matter of seconds / how quickly someone can fall unconscious or die from having their airways obstructed
d) how the person doing the chokehold - even if completely non maliciously - can often be fully oblivious to what’s happening until it’s too late
Martial arts and kink communities have known this forever btw. There are safER ways to do it, only if you and the other person know exactly what you’re doing (definitely not the case here), but NO safe way. None. And you ALWAYS respect the tap. This shit here is so unbelievably dangerous.
I don’t care how much you hate the Oilers or Bouchard, chokeholds like this are not okay.
Exactly! There’s a reason when you watch any sort of MMA or martial arts competition that has Submissions, the refs will pounce on the guys to break up the choke.
When you are behind a guy, choking him, it’s super hard to tell what’s happening. Hold a choke for a couple seconds too long, you are depriving the brain of oxygen or blood. Even a couple seconds of that after blacking out is a fast track to Brain Damage or even death.
And that’s with trained fighters that have been doing this all their life.
These are two dudes that whose only experience in fighting isn’t in the ring, it’s on the rink. If Bouchard blacked put here, it would have been really bad for him.
There is no such thing as a Safe Choke. The only thing you can do is know what you’re doing and respecting the signs of surrender.
Like I said in my comment, holding onto a submission after a tap is the fastest way to get your ass beat in a gym. It’s not only disrespectful, but abhorrently reckless and dangerous.
But we know DoPS won’t do anything. It’s a hockey play like Drai’s superman Elbow on Barkov or Bennett punching Marchand :)
Especially immediately after intense physical output when your body is trying to suck in oxygen. I mean, doing this in normal circumstances is dangerous but immediately after a high-intensity hockey shift? Crazy dangerous
I despise the Oilers but this was a dark moment for hockey.
Imagine how stupid this play would look in any other major sport other than MMA?
I doubt the NHL does anything, the violence is the only thing making this series interesting.
It's not a penalty in hockey logic because another player from his team was the victim of some other dirty play moments before. Therefore this is allowed.
there was someone in the nhl subreddit who was legitimately saying "When did hockey become soccer" after a hit left a player injured and resulted in the 5-minute major
you're always going to have people with this weird ass mentality. Hell in 20-30 years i guarantee you there will be people who will be saying "this league has become a bunch of wimps" just like you have dummies now saying the league is full of wimps now
it's a brainless and stupid ass rite of passage for men to bitch and cry about the toughness of the younger generation...literally since the days of the Bible
The entire country hates the Leafs because of sportscasters craming them down everyones throats. Sportscasting is 100% responsible for certain fandom hatred!
This game dirty play by play:
Sam Bennett knee on knee on Bouchard - 2 minutes
Someone hits Nurse in the corner awkwardly, freak accident, tears his left hip flexor - rightfully no penalty, its a freak accident, but it clearly mentally sets the tone for the Oilers.
followed by Warren Foegele knee on knee on Luosta - 5 minute major + game misconduct (worse than a 1 game suspension with how early it is, leading to the Oilers playing down a man the whole game)
Sam Bennett from distance, leaves his feet, sticks his elbow out, hits Broberg in the face, who doesn't even have the puck, no call.
Draisaitl accelerates into a check, leaving his feet right before the hit and his forearm hits Barkov in the face, resulting in concussion protocol - 2m for roughing
Ekblad chokes Bouchard immediately in response - no call
Ekblad later loses a stick trying to defend McDavid, chooses instead to grab his helmet/head with both hands and yanks it - no call
Carrick loses his cool over not keeping his head up, spears Kulikov - 2 minutes
Suspend Carrick, suspend Bennett (2 dangerous plays in 1 game and he was doing the same shit in game 1 too), suspend Ekblad, fine Draisaitl or suspend Draisaitl, but give Bennett 1 more game whatever it is.
I honestly wish they were much quicker to give them out, in fact I'd argue they need to be more aggressive about enforcing the rules in the playoffs, not less aggressive, since a dirty play can have a larger impact than in the regular season (and players are obviously more incentivized to do so, since they'll be the ones seeing that team again).
The threshold for suspension should be lower and the suspendee should be suspended for 2x as long as in the regular season instead of half as long.
I swear the entire league just dumps for Maurice because he gives cute little responses unlike most coaches, and because of it they let his team's get away with fucking murder. Can you imagine if Kadri did what Bennett did to Marchand? Minimum 3 playoff game suspension. They Panthers are the dirtiest fucking team out there and wave their white flags in the air every time they get fouled because they buy the BS Maurice is selling and the NHL has to promote their small market money pit teams
why on earth are chokeholds allowed? I've been wondering since i started watching hockey a year ago and it always seems to be eastern teams willing to go for chokeholds.
Because the league is a joke and doesn’t want hockey to be a legitimate sport, but a WWE-style spectacle.
Any league that’s serious about preserving the legitimacy of competition wouldn’t let this fly, but the NHL isn’t one of those leagues.
This is actually fucked. As someone who's a stickler for the rules, and how to bend rules, it fucking kills me watching a fake version of the sport I love on TV.
No penalty, refs don't give a fuck. Meanwhile people have to watch their favourite player get fucking choked out on international television
First, Don’t choke someone if you don’t know what you’re doing
Second, Pay attention to the guy you’re chocking because it can go wrong so fast
Third, RESPECT THE FUCKING TAP
This is the kind of shit that would get you rocked at a Gym.
Source: Practiced Jiu Jitsu for 6 years. Seen a lot of guys fuck around and find out.
Man I practiced Jiu jitsu for like 1 month and I STILL know this, it's like the second thing they tell you! I'm surprised they don't treat it as seriously as possible head injuries, it can go wrong so fast.
I think it’s just lack of knowledge of the consequences. Unless you do martial arts or have medical experience people just don’t understand the possible repercussions
Combine that with the macho tough guy look you gotta have in hockey and you get people doing dumb things thinking they know better
Absolutely insane thing to do.
I can't be the only one who doesn't find this funny. Fights are a part of our sport and I love it, but this is something else, of another sort entirely. If you want to be an enforcer, you look for the next mf that wants to drop his gloves.
You don't punch down. Punching down is some pussy shit and even with me being partial to Florida for this series, I think Ekblad's like 30% shittier for this. Like come on.
You want a fight, and the guy you grab onto is *Evan Bouchard*?? Just... no. No thanks dude.
Im so confused by all the clowning of bouchard going on regarding this. Have y’all ever been choked out before??? One of the worst feelings in the world.
*Drai hits Barkov*: "He left his feet!" "Intent to injure!" "Suspend him for the series!"
*Ekblad commits literal assault*: "That's just playoffs baby!"
Forty years ago, a player in Ekblad's position would've choked Bouchard to death and eaten his family. Believe me, it was tough back then. Lots of tough players. Very tough. Watch that video here. Now you get canceled on Twitter for this. Hockey isn't the same, folks. The snowflakes have taken over.. and it's a disaster! Bettman needs to go!
GOOD OL’ CANADIAN BOYS LIKE TOWS AND BOBBY ORR WOULDA PSSED OUT AND GOT BACK UP TO GET BACK IN THE CORNERS THE GAME IS CHANGIN I TELL YA WE NEED MORE GOOD STAY AT HOME D MEN LIKE THAT BIESKA’!
Trump would hear the game was in Florida and start talking about the Shark "problem" and boat batteries shocking sharks and how he'd rather be shocked to death by a boat battery than be eaten by a shark if he was on a sinking ship
Yes, this was something he actually talked about in a rally speech recently. Yes, it's as dumb as it sounds.
#HEY WHAT IS THIS STUFF, YA KNOW THESE KIDS NEED TO STOP GETTIN CHOKED OUT, I SAY IT EVERY SATURDAY, YOU DON'T SEE KIDS FROM SASKATCHEWAN DOING IT, and that's all I'm gonna say about THAT
This hasn’t been the most enjoyable matchup imo. Lots of Mickey Mouse bs going on all the time. Cup checks, choking, kneeing, head shots, plus people flopping and dying on the light taps. Just not a good look
Looks like an inadvertent rear naked choke. Honestly, I'm surprised Ekblad didn't just cover his face and drop to the fetal position.
Bouche should have been kicked out of the game for that tap.
I don’t play hockey & I’ve only been to two games. Is this normal & if I decide to play hockey at some point can I just choke people out if they annoy me?
in Hockey intent to injure is ONLY allowed in playoffs. NHL is the only sport with 2 separate official rule books. One is a regular season rules and other is playoffs. If you do this in Oct its a 3 game suspension.
Really just exhausted from watching Panthers players do dirty shit and start fights. Some brawls is fun, but **every single fucking play near the Panther net they start a fight/brawl.** Tkachuk is especially bad. This team is considering a bunch of cunts for a reason I guess.
I’m just amazed at 2 things, the Oilers got a penalty on this play, but even better Ekblad playing. Especially after being the 4th Panther laying on the ice dead, getting helped off, down the tunnel, but miraculously returns 100% fine. Not sure what magic is down that tunnel but it heals everything 🙄
Funny how people don't talk more about this but keep saying that Draisaitl is a dirty player after what happened to Barkov. Ironic. What Ekblad did here isn't any better.
I imagine if we’d won, then people would be talking about this more and not giving the Barkov thing that much attention.
Reddit tends to just pile on whoever lost the last game while also ignoring or justifying anything bad the winning team did, especially with teams like these that stir up lots of strong feelings lol
Just play hockey or drop the gloves, all these chickenshit scrums are annoying ! Wanna go…. Then go.
Otherwise play hockey, and please teach them to hit the net. Put all the super whippy sticks in the garbage, and use stiffer sticks so they can hit the net. What good is super velocity on your shot when you miss the post by 2 feet ??? Can’t remember seeing so many plumbers hitting the pipes !
It’It’s fine, ‘boys being boys’ kind of stuff. Why are people even talking like this league cares about rules or player safety? All they care about is money. And money is on the Panthers this year. There aren’t going to be any calls, fines, or missed games. Florida knocked two players out of the playoffs with elbows and faced zero consequences. Edmonton is trying to match the scumminess, but the league has a new rising favorite in scumness and it’s clearly not Edmonton
If this was Draisaitl or Kane instead of Ekblad people would be crying for a suspension. But since it's on an Oiler getting choked it's a meme. R/hockey hivemind at it's finest
NHL should be embarrassed if they don't do something about choking in their league. It's bad enough their officiating is the worst in pro sports but to allow this is shameful.
Edmonton needs to find the acting school that Florida uses to gain the acting skills to make it an actual call. The refs got a theater education and need it to be dramatic to call it( some people believe that refs are r/clowns)

He has the million dollar dream on him
Everybody has a price
Ekblad was laughing like while putting him in the sleeper
Thats Bob Backlunds music!
This hasn’t been the most enjoyable minutes for Bouchard lol
Reminds me of Karl Towns tryna tap while getting choked by Ben Simmons 😭
[or Gobert gettin choked out by Draymond?](https://youtu.be/LQb8dK4MC-E?si=0XT65RipnlzgZcHU&t=114) also never heard anyone just call him Karl Towns lol

That's some WWE level shit.
After that pass he probably wishes he’d been choked out
Was that a pass or an assist ?
Yes
Don't kink shame him
Some pay double for that kind of action.
Right lol poor guy was 30 ft away from the scrum and getting choked for no apparent reason lol.
This is a perfect allegory for how this series is turning out.
"You know I see the guys out there putting guys in choke holds and things like that. YOU DON'T DO THAT. A good true Canadian kid would never do that. Ekblad should know better! Was I meant to read this in Don Cherry’s voice?
Check out the username
Good point
Just a good ol' Ontario boy...
Yes.
Does the Pope shit in the Vatican?
what gave it away
Don’t forget Bietska
Edmonton choking?
Is it even choking? They're just getting outplayed
Game 2, yes. Despite Bob, the Oilers *should* have won game 1, but couldn't finish their many opportunities.
They didn't get outplayed in the first game. In fact they massively outplayed Florida and got denied by Bobrovsky. But that's even less of a choke
The Oilers and their record breaking lethal unstoppable offense... 5 shots after 2 periods. They are channeling last round Dallas who was channeling the Canucks
Thats just what the Panthers do. They are big and fast and they smother you
It doesn't help that they attack whoever is in front of the neck after the whistle, putting them in a chokehold. How is that legal? Florida has been getting away with that all through the playoffs.
If they get swept I'd call it a choke.
I mean that's fair but I think they just didn't turn up if that's the case. Same end result then
True, drais needs to stop playing streetfighter and plays Leon Draisaital
That's not what choking is. lol
People really overuse the word choking in this sub.
They literally dominated Florida in the first game, what is this narrative
Yeah choking implies being in control at some point. Its been all Florida these two games
Bob carrying the team game 1 isn't really controlling the game.
I know people are making jokes in the comments but this shit is dangerous as hell and there’s no way this should ever be allowed. I’d suspend him just to set a tone that this shit can’t happen.
Agreed. Joke of a league
I know we all hate the Oilers but come on, you can’t choke a dude out. That’s fucked.
Should be a suspension if you actually are choking someone which it seems clear he is here. Jesus
He should have just grabbed the ropes
He should be suspended. Also, the spear to the nuts should be a suspension. Of course, none of it will result in a suspension because the NHL is run by a bunch of spinless idiots. Neither of those plays are hockey plays and both are clear purposeful attempts to hurt another player. In any other sport outside UFC it would be a suspension.
I think even in the UFC, if you have someone in a choke hold and don't let go when they tap you're not going to be in the UFC.
You're correct, that's a DQ.
It's actually the ref's job to stop the match after he sees the tap, even if you think you felt a tap, you don't stop until the ref tells you to.
It's not even the choking Im worried about, but *dragging* him along the ice by his neck seems like a great way to permanently fuck someone up. These guys weigh 220-240lbs with their equipment, that's a lot of stress on the neck vertebrae.

Draisaitl should get a fine for his garbage hit on Barkov, as should Bennett for his charging + elbow on Broberg's head.
Lomberg choked Frederic last postseason. This seems on par for Florida scrum behavior
Believe it or not, there are weirdos out there who did this for fun
And people who do it for sexual pleasure
That's awful. Do you have videos?
People don’t realize how dangerous it is to fuck around with this stuff. In full seriousness, people should learn about the risks of doing anything that affects breathing, even without any intent to injure. u/BillThePsycho [has a good comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/s/skP9elfaOA) with good replies in these comments about how crazy risky this is. Tampa fan cheering for panthers?? But why?
You’d be surprised the amount of tampa fans who are, it’s disappointing
Yeah I don't understand it. I'll never cheer for them to win the cup. Tbh I hope they make 3-4 straight cups and lose them all like the Bills.
You can if you’re the panthers
If an oilers player did this to a panther there’d be an uproar about it lol
I despise the Oilers but this was a dark moment for hockey. Imagine how stupid this play would look in any other major sport other than MMA? I doubt the NHL does anything, the violence is the only thing making this series interesting.
This should be a suspension tbh or a penalty at the least, he's literally choking the guy out and anchoring is arm with his stick.
It’s Panthers, the can do what ever f they want. In opposite you can’t do a shit to them
Alright there chicken wing trouba
you can if it's an oilers player
As a Bruins fan we can confirm this is true
People are actually clowning Bouchard for this? That’s fucked up
This is really fucked up. Absolutely not a part of hockey. I can’t believe how many people are in here loving it.
I’m all for aggressive and physical hockey but choking someone out is definitely over the line
Choking someone like this should be an automatic game misconduct.
It should be a game misconduct and a suspension. This is insane
Its assault lol
Dops: hockey play lul
It's not a penalty in hockey logic because another player from his team was the victim of some other dirty play moments before. Therefore this is allowed.
I’ve seen people actually defending this lol “normal scrum play” apparently.

shit was happening like 40 feet from the scrum too
I hate Bouchard and the Oilers but yeah this is absolutely not it.
I understand hating the Oilers, but why hating Bouchard?
Whenever a caster on Sportsnet says "BoUcHbOmB" it makes me physically recoil with cringe.
Yeah but that’s not Bouchard’a fault. That’s just.. sportscasting.
The entire country hates the Leafs because of sportscasters craming them down everyones throats. Sportscasting is 100% responsible for certain fandom hatred!
And because of people bringing them up in conversations they weren't part of.
Same tbh. I think I'm just overly attached to the Klefbom days, and he actually has "bom" in his name. It feels forced with Bouch.
What line? - Florida
-Florida man
After Florida state line there are different rules in NhL handbook
Not the first time a Panther has done it. Ryan Lomberg did it against a Leaf last year that went uncalled. Edit - It was a Bruin, not a Leaf player.
Trent Frédéric https://youtu.be/mWP7i_EsvZw
For some reason I thought it was David Kampf lol
yeah, the Leaf's choke out on their own.
Ya no, let's all just focus on the Oilers being dirty. Fuck the Panthers
Both teams can be dirty.
This game dirty play by play: Sam Bennett knee on knee on Bouchard - 2 minutes Someone hits Nurse in the corner awkwardly, freak accident, tears his left hip flexor - rightfully no penalty, its a freak accident, but it clearly mentally sets the tone for the Oilers. followed by Warren Foegele knee on knee on Luosta - 5 minute major + game misconduct (worse than a 1 game suspension with how early it is, leading to the Oilers playing down a man the whole game) Skip to the third Sam Bennett from distance, leaves his feet, sticks his elbow out, hits Broberg in the face, who doesn't even have the puck, no call. Because the league is a joke and doesn’t want hockey to be a legitimate sport, but a WWE-style spectacle. Any league that’s serious about preserving the legitimacy of competition wouldn’t let this fly, but the NHL isn’t one of those leagues.
we can't choke hockey players out anymore, because of woke
The panthers are the biggest pieces of shit in the league man. I can’t stand them
That’s such a bad look for a guy. And on the eve of Clash at the Castle! Who will come out victorious this Saturday? Live on Peacock!
Watch it live, on the ‘cock!
Ok that's legit fucking bullshit, league should do something imo
When are we getting suspensions?

Its Florida. This is their game play and how they win games.
Sorry, I meant *the officials*. I am not surprised at all that Florida players are headlocking people.
>Third, RESPECT THE FUCKING TAP Aaron "Palhares" Ekblad
~~Rousimar~~ Aaron see neck. ~~Rousimar~~ Aaron grab neck. ~~Rousimar~~ Aaron snap Neck.
Forth, if a move is banned by the NYPD as excessive force, maybe you shouldn't be using it in a hockey game...
Yeah, dudes doing stupid shit at a BJJ gym is just the worst Ignore my username
Lmao
How about firstly don’t choke someone in a hockey match
How many more seasons till we get another Steve Moore type incident to calm down this shit
Seasons? Might be a couple games
And some people have tried to say Florida wasn’t the slightest bit dirty so far lol cmon
Most clean Panthers player after the whistle.
Need Slafkovsky to fuck this guy up again.
Even a shittier look for the refs not calling anything over this. Great job lol
Choking should be an automatic suspension honestly, no place for that in the game (only after the game if it's consensual 😉)
Im so confused by all the clowning of bouchard going on regarding this. Have y’all ever been choked out before??? One of the worst feelings in the world.
It’s horrible
Typical Florida Man bullshit....
Did he actually say the word "help"?
*Drai hits Barkov*: "He left his feet!" "Intent to injure!" "Suspend him for the series!" *Ekblad commits literal assault*: "That's just playoffs baby!"
Ekblad does this kinda thing at least twice per game. He's a pure psycho.
Dudes probably full on CTE at this point.
I don't know whether to read that in Don Cherry or Donald Trump his voice lol
Cherry. Trump needs about another 150 words that have nothing to do with what he may have started out trying to say
Trump would hear the game was in Florida and start talking about the Shark "problem" and boat batteries shocking sharks and how he'd rather be shocked to death by a boat battery than be eaten by a shark if he was on a sinking ship Yes, this was something he actually talked about in a rally speech recently. Yes, it's as dumb as it sounds.
Sir, this is a Wendy's.
Gerry “Gypsy” Gillsbey chocked out, and Ate, Jeff “Slashes the refs” Smith in the 1961 Leafs Chicago pre-season game. True story.
LMAOOO I'm dead
*piano desk*
#HEY WHAT IS THIS STUFF, YA KNOW THESE KIDS NEED TO STOP GETTIN CHOKED OUT, I SAY IT EVERY SATURDAY, YOU DON'T SEE KIDS FROM SASKATCHEWAN DOING IT, and that's all I'm gonna say about THAT
NHL DoPS: "Just a normal hockey play..." smh this is just nonsense. Play the damn game
Ekblad grabbing someone by the head? Must be a day ending in ‘y’…
He should've faked passing out. Get taken off on a stretcher, Ekblad is gone for the series.
What if both teams are dirty and it's not one or the other
This is it. Florida is just more dirty.
The league won't do anything but damn man that should be suspension worthy, the guy is tapping out and you are still trying to put him to sleep?
Only if you are good enough to make it to the nhl, apparently
Goals.
in Hockey intent to injure is ONLY allowed in playoffs. NHL is the only sport with 2 separate official rule books. One is a regular season rules and other is playoffs. If you do this in Oct its a 3 game suspension.
Thank you for the clarification. Only choke out in month that is not October… put on schedule, set reminder.
Really just exhausted from watching Panthers players do dirty shit and start fights. Some brawls is fun, but **every single fucking play near the Panther net they start a fight/brawl.** Tkachuk is especially bad. This team is considering a bunch of cunts for a reason I guess.
Yup, then they cry and cry when someone gets one of them
Florida trash.
This should be a suspension
nothing from the league? really? color me surprised.
The magic is the intercom that plays the penalty call
Player safety needs to step in. This deserves game suspension for Elklod.
You're right! And what's funny is that they also pretend that Draisaitl is worse than Bennett, Cousins or Tkachuk. Like, wtf?! lol
I could see him getting a call and a fine.
So can you just do whatever in hockey scrums? Like, kinda embarrassing the lack of control officials and the league apparently have.
That’s straight up cartoonish
Almost seems like it's out of Monty Python
That should be a fine imo
Player Safety has left the chat. Gary Bettman approves. Disgusting player behavior
NHL is about to let a WWE team win the cup just so southern fans keep watching💀
It’It’s fine, ‘boys being boys’ kind of stuff. Why are people even talking like this league cares about rules or player safety? All they care about is money. And money is on the Panthers this year. There aren’t going to be any calls, fines, or missed games. Florida knocked two players out of the playoffs with elbows and faced zero consequences. Edmonton is trying to match the scumminess, but the league has a new rising favorite in scumness and it’s clearly not Edmonton
Oh look Florida being dirty after the whistle with no consequences. I've seen this rerun every round. Most unlikeable Cup winning team ever?
There need to be some suspensions handed out after this game.
Yeah that's kinda fucked up, Ekblad...
If this was Draisaitl or Kane instead of Ekblad people would be crying for a suspension. But since it's on an Oiler getting choked it's a meme. R/hockey hivemind at it's finest
You can’t do that
Not exactly a hockey play
Pretty shocking how people here are celebrating
Looks like a clean RNC. I wonder why he didn't get the hooks in? Brouchard could easily bridge and escape into closed guard. /s
All 6 of the Panthers fans crying about Barkov, explain this shit? Your team a bunch of dirty players and your team has 6 fans
NHL should be embarrassed if they don't do something about choking in their league. It's bad enough their officiating is the worst in pro sports but to allow this is shameful.
But yeah, Florida fans, go on about how your team isn't dirty.
Suspension-Worthy, but the league clearly would prefer Florida wins, so...
How is choking someone when they are tapping okay??
Edmonton needs to find the acting school that Florida uses to gain the acting skills to make it an actual call. The refs got a theater education and need it to be dramatic to call it( some people believe that refs are r/clowns)
If this was Trouba this sub and other places would be rioting. But cause its Ekblad its all good.
