I swear I saw him somewhere in the broadcast in the parade. If you look for the video when Randy Moller congratulates Viola you can see him behind them.
I prefer this, it's much more fun for the fans to see The Guy who's at every game and does The Thing and everyone loves him instead of multi-millionaire pop star #715517
Doesn't make sense. They legit have one of the biggest celebrities ever in Ariana grande as a fan and other athletes and celebrities show up too(the Bosa Brothers, Koepka, Kodak, Kamaru Usman, Josh Gad, etc). You are just envious of the Florida aura
Egoraptor? No way, that's awesome. I always associate him vaguely with hockey because the night of the 2011 Vancouver Cup Riot I was hanging out drinking with friends and my one buddy showed the rest of us his "Halo Reach" video, which was pretty much the funniest thing we had ever seen. The reason I know it was the night of the Cup Riot is because we basically alternated between rewatching that video and a clip of a dude at the riot getting hit in the nuts with a flashbang grenade over and over again al night long. Ah, to be 18 again.
I can only hope someday to thumb my nose at all the haters for the Wild until they start complaining about us laughing at their jokes. Anyone upset at this is guaranteed also someone who used the jokes and mad that they have no weight anymore.
The Wild are:
- mediocre to a point where we can not make fun of their performance in any direction (beyond generic lack of cup jokes)
- in a hockey region
- in a hockey market
- a lovely colour scheme
- not culturally appropriating anything
- not known to be covering up anything
- not hugely popular outside of their market
- not canonically dirty
Like, what are we going to joke about? You're not giving us anything to work with. Name ends in not-'s'? You lost a team once a while ago when everyone was losing teams? Haha Koivu didn't retire a Wild? (See, your name makes that sentence sound more awkward than it does for most teams! gottem!)
Now get back out there and either work on extending your playoff drought to two seasons (half your longest drought?) or ending your drought or whatever the fuck it is the Wild do.
You mean like "can't get a drink in St. Louis....they don't have any cups" . IMHO it was a lame joke on the face of it but fell even more flat when you consider the 11 World Series, Superbowl win, and NBA championship.
The acting is bad because they aren't paid actors, these are well known fans that any Panthers regular would recognize in an instant. We're only missing SuperFan.
Oilers fans really took this overused joke to a whole new level of overuse in the last few weeks of the playoffs though. It was becoming really cringey.
If i had a dollar every time someone made fun of how many fans the panthers have as well as "why is the camera angle like this at the panthers barn"... i'd have a nice savings going
“Let me give you some advice, bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.” - A little person with golden hair
Lol, it was repeated ad nauseum for the whole postseason and the parade but all of a sudden it’s beating a dead horse when we make fun of it? Ok buddy.
It was funny at first, but it’s also strange to make this joke when the “six fans” joke started because they were bottom of the league in attendance and faces relocation rumors every year until like, 3 years ago
> 29 other fan bases won’t shut up about how the Panthers have no fans and should move to Quebec for 25 years
> Panthers bring in an owner that actually wants to win, builds the fanbase up, and actually wins the cup
> Panthers make fun of the other fan bases that were trying to chirp their own fans
What part of that is strange? We had salty Edmonton fans talking about the nonexistent fanbase fewer than 48 hours ago despite fan turnout for the parade (in the middle of a thunderstorm) being higher than the population of the entire city of Ft Lauderdale
Until people stop saying it, they will keep doing it
It seems like they are beating a dead horse, but when you have been the blunt of jokes for decades, it probably feels really good to have your gotcha
The Coyotes never got that to have that gotcha moment, and I will forever be sad about that
Yeah but even a Cup (let alone a dynasty) is not a Get Out of Jail Free Card
Remember when the Islanders relocation rumors were rampant when the Brooklyn move turned out to be disastrous?
Remember when the Edmonton Oilers almost moved to Houston, but were saved in the zero hour by some comic book artist forgot his name?
The point when it becomes no fun for everyone else to make the joke..
Been decades of hearing it said by every other fanbase and their mothers and somehow not a dead horse. Cats adopt it for like 2 weeks and all of the sudden its a dead horse
I mean the only real reason to lean into it is if it works as a marketing gimmick for their target audience - and clearly it still does or they wouldn't be doing it I guess
Maybe, but this isn't it. There's literally still posts just this past week with sour Oilers fans saying hockey doesn't belong in the South and Florida fans don't know hockey. Here's the thing about South Florida. Very few people are actually from here. There is a huge population of transplants from other states and other countries, including Canadians. It's hard to build a faithful fan base for any sport when the majority of the people have come here from elsewhere and have loyalties to other teams. I've been a Panthers fan since day one, but I'm sure there's plenty of people that joined in the past few years since the team started doing well. That's fine, let them come along for the ride. It helps the team when we can fill the arena and have less opposing fans at the games. Maybe one day the elitist original 6 team fans will get over themselves. They act like nobody can appreciate hockey unless their team has been around 100 years. Until then we can keep joking about our 6 fans.
>there is a huge population of transplants
60% of the Greater Miami metro population don’t speak English as their first language. They’re either immigrants themselves or children of immigrants. Many don’t have the context of ice hockey from their birth countries and were introduced into the sport by the Panthers
Many die hard Panthers fans son mi gente
I was born here but my parents came from Cuba and followed baseball. I played baseball growing up and in high school, but I have always been into sports and would play pickup basketball and football with friends every weekend. I used to skate at Tropical South and Midway Skating centers back in the day, and when the Panthers came along I started following them immediately. My two sons grew up playing hockey and have been Panthers fans since they were old enough to watch. They are now grown and have their own kids and are still diehard fans. My family loves this team and it was amazing to watch them finally reach the Pinnacle of the sport. I could care less what any other fan base thinks. I've been playing and coaching hockey for almost 30 years now and I'd be willing to sit down with any fan of another team that thinks they know the game better than we do.
Sure. But in 30 years. Because that’s about how long we’ve had to hear the shitty jokes and people downplaying how rabid the fanbase really is when they have ownership in place that actually gives a damn about winning and building a strong culture
> people downplaying how rabid the fanbase really
I mean you guys had a lot of empty seats in some of your recent playoff runs. I think this season your fanbase has shown up very well, but the joke was based off reality.
The nightclub seats are usually empty and the nightclub is in direct view of the hard cam; people in nightclub seats are in the club, not at their seats. We’ve talked about this like 10+ years ago when the nightclub opened
I was in Miami at a bar about eight years ago, there was a panthers rep working there, was offered lower bowl season tickets and it worked out to about $4 a game.
Yeah... EIGHT years ago. We know we had attendance issues in the past. It hasn't been that way in a long time. 2014-2015 was the worst year for the franchise with an abysmal 11k attendance average. We aren't denying that. Comparing 8 years ago to the last 3-4 years isn't a fair assessment.
I know I’m just trying to say where people are coming from and I think it’s more last year even in the playoffs you had attendance issues, so it’s a meme and people are gonna meme.
I like them leaning into it for ad purposes, and people who are mad about it are too soft. It’s been an issue.
So your argument is that the seats are empty because people are at the club rather than at the game. I guess we shouldn't look to two years ago when the Panthers had the sixth worst attendance in the league.
It is easy to support a winning team but until they can show that they can consistently support a team that is average then there will still be doubts about the market
Every time I see some one joking about florida having bad hockey fans it's so unfair because in reality they are actually even worse baseball and football fans.
Yes, this is leaning a bit into it too much. That said the jokes have been coming at us for 20+ years now. Y'all been beating this rotting corpse of a horse for much longer than we have.
If we’re being fair up until til last years run you didn’t have a lot of fans, at least at the games. It’s not hard to find evidence that your fans only show when the team is good/playoffs, that’s kinda what south Florida fans are known for.

They show November 1st on a Frday at 1 PM against the Stars and say Jason Robertson comes to town. That game is in Finland....
They meant Barkov’s *hometown*
Yeah I know they did a bad lol
Silly miss but fun to have an excuse of cup hangover
They didn’t specify which town…
It's a home game for our 4 Finns.
They're all from different towns, though.
Maybe that game they actually will only have 6 fans in attendance lmao
Barkov was already hugely popular in his hometown but now they have four Finns total. It’s gonna be packed.
Throw in a stars squad with Hintz Heiskanen Lindell
I'm one of them
I guess Pitbull wasn’t available to be their 7th fan?
Or Kodak Black
Or Arianna Grande
What about Kevin Space-oh, nevermind.
We don't talk about Kevin anymore
But, We Need to Talk About Kevin
Or Bruno
Nah, Bruno’s good now.
Mars? This is news to me
what would be the odds of her getting hit in the head with a puck for a third time?
They ran out of “celebrity appearance” money
Actual Panther fans know exactly who all these people are. They are OUR local celebrities, the only one they missed was SuperFan.
I heard he's giving it up this season. Glad they found discount Ric Flair I don't remember seeing him for a while
Flair is always there. Was in the ice when they won the trophy and in the parade.
Didn't see him in the parade but I was probably to buzzing to care
Flair was on one of the busses. I barely recognized him because he was soaking wet!
He was on a F150 with the other fans
I swear I saw him somewhere in the broadcast in the parade. If you look for the video when Randy Moller congratulates Viola you can see him behind them.
Wouldn't he get cold?
I hear the dude stuff his clothes with Benjamin's to keep warm.
I prefer this, it's much more fun for the fans to see The Guy who's at every game and does The Thing and everyone loves him instead of multi-millionaire pop star #715517
Exactly!
Yeah i thought that was the joke
Doesn't make sense. They legit have one of the biggest celebrities ever in Ariana grande as a fan and other athletes and celebrities show up too(the Bosa Brothers, Koepka, Kodak, Kamaru Usman, Josh Gad, etc). You are just envious of the Florida aura
Idk if Kodak Black is allowed in the arena since his incident.
Hahaha definitely. Bro said he was dancing kompa with his girl but I think he was str8 up humping her
Does he actually watch hockey?
Ariana Grande does
Josh Gad, Ariana Grande, Kodak Black, Luther Campbell, Rick Ross, Egoraptor…we got some famous fans
lmfao it's hilarious that you listed exactly 6 of them
It was unintentional I assure you
that's why it's hilarious ;)
Shit, that means there's at least a dozen of them. There could really be dozens!
Egoraptor? No way, that's awesome. I always associate him vaguely with hockey because the night of the 2011 Vancouver Cup Riot I was hanging out drinking with friends and my one buddy showed the rest of us his "Halo Reach" video, which was pretty much the funniest thing we had ever seen. All 6 of them
Egoraptor? Arin Hanson's a Panthers fan?
Yerp
Well I'll be
Aaaaaaand Kevin Spacey too
I had the hoodie and fucking got rid of it when I found out he diddled minors
He was there. Just too short. He’s behind a seat.
okay but that's actually 9 ... the Florida public school system, ladies and gentlemen.,
The other three aren’t actually fans. Duh
florida does not recognize children as persons
Unless they’re a fetus
I wasn't tryna come here to be sad 😭
they don’t recognize women as people, that’s why they didn’t let them talk /s just in case
Heard DeSantis just got rid of the number 8 in public schools. When reached for quote he hissed “That’s 2nd hole is the devils playground!”
Surprised there wasn't a bible in all of their laps
You are closer to the Bible Belt in Tampa then we are down here 😂
The more north you go down here the more south it gets
Jacksonville is the Florida of Florida
And even closer to Clearwater...
Laughs in Pasco County
Drew Garabo used to have a bit on his show Must Pass Co all about the trashy Florida men news stories from Pasco. Good stuff
I respect the hustle but Ron Desantis grew up in Pinellas County
Fuck Rhonda Santos. All my homies hate Rhonda Santos.
That’s something we can both agree on
Ronny Meatballs isn't a Bible thumper though. He's just a prick.
He’s Opus Dei
*it hurt itself in confusion*
They're missing the teenage kid who the ESPN cameras found screaming "let's go" after every single goal in the Cup final.
But they got fake Ric Flair, the most important fan.
Sometimes I like to mess with people and say he’s discount Michael McDonald lol
Stylin' & profilin'
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Also missed shirtless behind the bench kid.
Shirtless kid was there
Would have been better if they had the Stanley cup just in a seat somewhere.
I can only hope someday to thumb my nose at all the haters for the Wild until they start complaining about us laughing at their jokes. Anyone upset at this is guaranteed also someone who used the jokes and mad that they have no weight anymore.

Nerd
TIL the Wild are true neutral in teams
You mean like "can't get a drink in St. Louis....they don't have any cups" . IMHO it was a lame joke on the face of it but fell even more flat when you consider the 11 World Series, Superbowl win, and NBA championship.
Tbf none of those are cups are they?
Not with that attitude they're not.
I am sure they could drink from a super bowl
Turns out, the trophy isn't so super as a bowl
We even had an all stlouis world series once too
Or the one about pouring vodka, kahlua and cream onto the bar surface... White Russian without a cup...
I like it. Makes light of the jabs, and endears us to some of the fans.
Well done
why is everyone shirtless (I thought the video was funny to be clear)
It's too hot in sfl.
Fuck you're all bitter. I thought it was great.
I agree. The acting is obviously bad but the idea is fucking great.
[Fake Ric Flair](https://www.instagram.com/steveelario?igsh=amlqMm9kMnZrbTd3) is a super cool dude. Always happy to say hi and take a picture.
The acting is bad because they aren't paid actors, these are well known fans that any Panthers regular would recognize in an instant. We're only missing SuperFan.
alright we're getting into "beating a dead horse" territory
yeah but how long did it take for panthers fans to hear "all 6 fans" before it was beating a dead horse?
Oilers fans really took this overused joke to a whole new level of overuse in the last few weeks of the playoffs though. It was becoming really cringey.
Ya’ll got 10+ years with the joke. Let em have a month with it…
> Ya’ll got 10+ years with the joke. And another 15 before that.
Yes, but somehow other fans seem to still make this joke all the time, so I'm not gonna complain about the Panthers doing it
If i had a dollar every time someone made fun of how many fans the panthers have as well as "why is the camera angle like this at the panthers barn"... i'd have a nice savings going
Actually I thought your camera angle was a welcome respite from Dallas’
You don’t enjoy the camera angle behind five people’s heads?
I love the low camera angle in Florida's barn, it's like the anti San Jose, which I hate because I feel like I need binoculars even watching on TV
Yeah but that's exactly how you wanna bury a lame joke about you, make it uncool to be used against you
Y’all have been beating that horse for 30 years. You better believe we aren’t letting you hear the end of it now that we actually won
This is the way
You guys did it too 🤨
Correct, which is why this is the way.
I'd be happy if this was the end of it.
Good. Maybe people will stop with the "no fans" comments every time their team loses to Florida.
Meh. People have beat the dead horse with the same insult against them. Do I find it funny? No, but I also an a bit of a stick in the mud.
“Let me give you some advice, bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like armor, and it can never be used to hurt you.” - A little person with golden hair

Taking a page out of the Canes PR notebook

Where was Panther man? 😞
Even as a fan I’ll admit this ad is cringe
There’s nine there though not six
Kinda hard to count when you got the massive nalgas of a big booty Latina in your face
Ok, but do you have more than six jokes?
Until people stop saying it, they will keep doing it It seems like they are beating a dead horse, but when you have been the blunt of jokes for decades, it probably feels really good to have your gotcha The Coyotes never got that to have that gotcha moment, and I will forever be sad about that

Technically most of the EIG were Edmonton business people and Todd Macfarlane was a minority partner but you are correct he was involved
That’s the guy, thank you
Did you hear about the Oiler that won an award? He was outstanding in his field I’ll be here all week
McDavid still standing in his locker room
is there a point where the leaning into it gets to be too much…
Ask the Hurricanes and Golden Knights
This isn't even close to approaching that yet. God almighty, let them have their fun they just won the cup a week ago.
I really don't think so either, I'm just pointing out that the answer is *definitely yes*
Sorry that wasn't even really directed at you, just the sentiment from anyone else implying it's near that
No worries, brother!
The point when it becomes no fun for everyone else to make the joke.. Been decades of hearing it said by every other fanbase and their mothers and somehow not a dead horse. Cats adopt it for like 2 weeks and all of the sudden its a dead horse
Not until other fanbases stop saying we have no fans. It's fair game until then.
Yes, but I mean, the comments about it haven’t stopped so I get why they would continue to lean into it.
I mean the only real reason to lean into it is if it works as a marketing gimmick for their target audience - and clearly it still does or they wouldn't be doing it I guess
Exactly. these ads aren't to convince YOU to go to the games. It's for us, the fans of the actual team to laugh at and enjoy and encourage US to go.

Oh you mean like how the fanbase had to hear about how we had 6 fans for the last 20+ years? You’re right!
If people are going to keep making the same joke then nope.
This is literally the first one and y’all were repeating it literally yesterday.
Classic Reddit comment. It hasn't even been a week yet
Sure. But in 30 years. Because that’s about how long we’ve had to hear the shitty jokes and people downplaying how rabid the fanbase really is when they have ownership in place that actually gives a damn about winning and building a strong culture

Yeah, I liked this one. Kids awkwardly trying to remember lines is also always funny too.
The same could be said for the chirps tbh It’s a 1:1 relationship lol
I’d reckon it’s near the same point where Edmonton, NY, Boston and Toronto fans stop making the same stupid joke in the first place
Didn’t look like 6 fans at the parade
It was more like 7, maybe 8 if you count me
Every time I see some one joking about florida having bad hockey fans it's so unfair because in reality they are actually even worse baseball and football fans.
Y'all Panthers are making it real hard to keep hating Florida.
This is amazing hahaha Right up there with the Canes embracing the Buncha Jerks thing
This is turning into the Canes "bunch of jerks" level of cringe lol
Rick Flair seems cool as hell these days
If I was one of six, I probably would want my own section.
LOL ton of green with envy keyboard warriors lately.
Okay that's fucking hilarious. Nothing like a solid 'lean into it'.
Well done here.
The use of Reel Big Fish - Sell Out as the background music is amazing.
Fucking hate the panthers but that was pretty good.
Can some remind me of the genesis of this “all 6 fans” thing?
People shitting on a southern team saying they have no fanbase.
People constantly harping on the team and fanbase for having no fans. Some sports writer or play by play guy once said he only had 6 fans.
Look in the comments of any Florida Panthers social media post
Glad they got the Ric Flair STH to be in it, my personal favorite running joke at the arena, but surprised they didn't get the fan with the cape 🤔
[Super cool dude.](https://www.instagram.com/steveelario?igsh=amlqMm9kMnZrbTd3)
Lmao that’s great
Still louder than all the leafs fans in suits
What a terrible slogan to commit your entire franchise to.
Yes, this is leaning a bit into it too much. That said the jokes have been coming at us for 20+ years now. Y'all been beating this rotting corpse of a horse for much longer than we have.
If we’re being fair up until til last years run you didn’t have a lot of fans, at least at the games. It’s not hard to find evidence that your fans only show when the team is good/playoffs, that’s kinda what south Florida fans are known for.
why do I feel like I've waddled into the 90s
RemindMe! 5 years
https://i.redd.it/9f4jey5b45ad1.gif The South remembers
I just thought I finally got over the fact that he’s gone. God damnit
Don’t be sad he’s gone. Be happy he was here.
Gonna miss you Lomberghini 😥
We’ll treat him well
I can’t stand the shirtless kid, am I alone?
