The reader is a Rosslare AY-K12B Micro-Mullion Multi-Format Proximity Reader, presumably attached to a Rosslare access control system, though that is not pictured.
The physical lock itself isn't pictured, and could be an electric strike, an electrified crash bar, an electric handle set, or a mag lock attached to the access control system.
Probably, it's SUPER easy to copy the 125Khz cards. the one I got came with blanks for the big rectangular cards and the little round keychain ones. They both work the same. All you need is access to the original card and it takes like 30 seconds to copy it. The reader simply reads the code from the original, stores the number, and writes it to a blank. After that they are the same card.
Looks like an RFID card reader. Probably goes to a remote access control system that then sends an electrical signal to the lock in the door frame to open it.
1. No, it won't open the door if you take it off and connect or cut some wires.
2. Shooting it will not prevent the bad guys from following you
Your down votes are a by-product of saying a technically correct, but pedantic statement that most probably don't realize is correct...

no it's not, nfc is also radio based but it's not inherently the same. nfc may be classified as a type or rfid format
More expensive rfid readers nowadays support nfc and even bluetooth but that's not a given.
Depends on the model and whether the option is configured softwareside
they didn't say a plant is a tree they said a tree is a plant.
so they said: a tree is a plant
and your rebuttal was: a plant is not always a tree sometimes its a flower. they never said a plant was a tree.

This guy locks!
RFID reader, it reads 125-kHz cards.
You can get a card copier for like $18, they work great.
Depends on which cards, but I sincerely hope they’re not using static cards for authentication.
Someone recently got into the building and used the movie theater that’s only open to residents, is that what they did?

it may as well read Mifare cards, depends on the setup
Does this mean anyone can get purchase cards online and get access??? That’s kind of unnerving.
No, they would have to have access to a card that’s in the system.
Correct but it's super easy to copy one.
Apparently people are using a “flipper zero”
There are many other RF card copiers.
I’m sorry Dave, I can’t tell you that.
The downvotes are from the young people 😂.
*Uncultured young people, I get the reference.
Got that reference also haha
This is the correct answer.

Haha, rents too expensive to do that!
Looks to be RFID or NFC

Amazing reply
That's not a lock, its a card reader.
Baby HAL.
Is not a lock, it’s an RFID reader it’s part of building access control, can be added to any system.
what’s this
