I think this definitely calls for either an epoxy swirl coat, textured concrete or wall to wall shag carpet. Glued down. With cat piss.

Yes because people have a ton of money to do all of that. :) You don't need the carpet but a padding instead, a lot cheaper unless you're going to go with old fashioned ugly ass kitchen carpet. And no high gloss paint, it shows every single imperfection!

I’m sorry, I’m sure I’m going to get downvoted for this, but I think that floor is ugly. I rarely find anything parquet, or parquet adjacent attractive. Just because it’s wood, doesn’t mean it’s nice.

Two ideas: 1.) paint everything in there black. Everything. 2.) barn door floors. Maybe you can mix and match.

To be fair this is nice parquet but most parquet is not lovely, it’s orange and awful. In Europe they have herringbone parquet, here in Canada we get that 80s four square shit. I wish I had this parquet lol

These are so ugly. Obviously, we need a beigey-grey shag carpet to cover this. And be sure to nail it down every foot or so so that it’s very secure. And before the rug goes down, better paint that floor with a few layers of primer.
