What's better than a Tiktok novelty? A rare novelty. Create exclusivity around the brand by doing limited "drops" which secretly coincide with fluctuations in the meat market in your favor until you gain traction. If you can claim shelf space, get in with a moderate price but charge a premium for the custom double buns.
Focus marketing on social media influencers and use a tiered approach: take many low-priced influencers, a handful of medium tier, and one or two top level. Engineer "secret menu / word-of-mouth" style of preparation so it feels like you're a cultural insider if you eat a fuckin hotdog.
Example: "you're gonna wanna take your Duet dogs, pull the skewers out, then where the skewer was take the cheese and..." Have those influencer mouths stuffed saying bussin' a few times and everyone absolutely need to drag their mom to run out buy these Duet dogs, do the ritual, post, and review the experience for a few views themselves.
After market penetration is successful, impact the season's sales by rolling out branded Duet Dog™ corndog kits as well as Korean "gamja" style kits for the fam. Create a line of squeezable "twin" condiment packets with complimentary condiments under the brand, i.e. honey / hot mustard, ketchup / mustard, ketchup / relish, etc.
They will be creating a 5th sequel to The Matrix. Get a licensing agreement to do a collab and drop a limited edition glitch dog where one dog is artificially dyed kind of blue and the other one is red.
Hire two 20-something musicians to do road trip social media diaries in hot dog costumes from opposite ends of the country and have them surprise meet in a big buildup moment. Release their album under Duet Dog the record label. Brand the releases, but donate 100% of the proceeds to a food pantries.
Get licensing deals with the Minnesota Twins or other similarly named teams to allow them to sell your dogs in their parks.
I'm not a dog lover, but respect the man's concerns. The concern is not simply more food, it's better ratios for meat and condiments. It's possible that cleanliness is also a concern when talking about the platform for condiments.
Side by side dogs would act like rolling levers and put stress on the middle bottom span.
I was thinking more of a "big mac" design with a thin bread flap in the middle to keep them in place and maintain bread:meat ratio.
I briefly worked at a gas station that sold roller dogs. Used to sell half decent 8oz dogs then they got scrimped down to 4ozs so if I was feeling a dog, I'd take two and make it a double decker in the bun.
I’d be happy if the hotdog buns available were sliced in the middle correctly .
Additionally … why do hotdogs come in packs of 10 and rolls in packs of 8 ?
I’ve been eating double dogs since the 80s in NY. A legendary place call Walter’s spilts and grills their little dogs so they are kind of flat, then you can stack them on a regular bun. Two doubles was my usual order.
I would live a double-wide bun.
I maintain a rather low carb diet. I don’t want to forgo eating the bun, but I don’t want to eat two buns.
I would buy this, provided the actual product was good.
I’m doing this. I think I can just cut the space out of a small sub bun. Maybe even put that piece back on top, after the toppings, so I can double fist it.
Ha! Not what I was expecting...
If you bought deli bologna and had them slice it like 1/2" thick, and grill it, that would be like a hotdog in burger form. I ought to try it one day.
It is the way....
[https://www.reddit.com/r/hotdogs/comments/1d7l123/double\_dog\_on\_a\_french\_baguetteoui\_oui\_monseur/](https://www.reddit.com/r/hotdogs/comments/1d7l123/double_dog_on_a_french_baguetteoui_oui_monseur/)
I have tried this with regulars hot dog buns and I would consider each attempt a disappointment. the mouth feel of two hotdogs in one regular bun is too weird... However, I feel like a specialized bun with a strip of bread down the middle might alleviate this...?
I think the balance between hot dog and bun is more critical with a hot dog than a hamburger. I don’t even care for those big 1/4 dogs. So I wouldn’t be a fan of a double dog. But that’s me.
This needs a patent award. Seriously, if you look up the "Readily Portable Burrito"* patent, why not this as well?
* Literally, an awarded patent for a burrito built with a popsicle stick... so that you can eat it more easily on the go.
2 dogs split down the center grilled and stacked on one standard bun. Better protein to carb ratio, layer condiments between the two dogs for more surface area. Still fits the standard size mouth. 🤪
We have this in Sweden already. We use tunnbröd, a soft rectangular flatbread that is somewhere between a tortilla and a pita in thickness. And get this, mashed potatoes and/or shrimp salad are frequently used as toppings. 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪❤️‼️
I saw a guy do this at Costco years ago. He order two HDs but proceeded to place both wieners in one bun.
From time to time I think about that guy, I don’t know if he was a glutton or a genius.
This is why our government should increase funding for basic science research. I can't believe it is 2024 and we still don't have double dog technology!
It's a flawed idea. A good hotdog relies partly on a quality, well made bun, just sliced up the middle. This concave design would need some sort of tooling and mass production techniques that would undoubtedly mean the bread quality would suffer. Do these things ship pre-opened? They will be drier than gandhi's sandals.
We aren't ready. Look how much social media has negatively affected society, and you think we idiots are going to be able to handle something like this? I wish, I really do, but it's just too dangerous.
Place I used to work when I was a kid would slice the 1/4 lbs dog slightly left of center but not all the way through then flip and do it again, spread open and serve on a hamburger bun. Many ordered an extra dog, including myself. It was glorious.
Why not use a standard hotdog bun but cut it with an upside down Y?? You’d end up with two ‘pockets’ to put the dogs in, the bun triangle at the base (from the Y cut) would add to the overall stability of the snack and you’d still have the bun spread on the top end giving you the desired addition real estate for mustard/relish/onions without having to go through the hassle of manufacturing a new bun… just a thought
As a Chilean living in the US, one thing I miss from our country are decent hot-dog buns.
- They are not a fresh product, we get ours only from the same day (baked no more than a few hours ago).
-They're too small to put toppings on top (often a good amount of chopped tomatoes, avocado, sauerkraut and sauces) or even contain the sausage w/o falling apart.
- They're also too sweet and the texture is all wrong.
There are exceptions of course, like here in Philly, Liscio's (from NJ) buns are very respectable although still too small (we end up using smaller hot-dogs and eat 2), but I haven't seen a decent one from a popular brand, and only a handful of decent ones from specialty restaurants that source from local bakeries.
Or do a Big Mac style bun. Basically a bun with two slices cut into it, and put a dog in each slice. Then you could treat each dog individually but also eat them at the same time. Think Chicago dog with chili cheese dog side car. A bite or either or a bite of both. Holy shit I’ve got work to do
“This is my business idea Shark Tank. I am looking for a $1 million investment for a 2% stake in my company.”
Best we can do is $2 for a 50% stake, and 10% royalties
“You said you make a $1 profit per unit sold?” “Yes” “I want a $2 royalty”
“And a couple of those dogs, if you got em”
You called a hot dog a frankfurter. And for that reason, I'm out.
I’m in for a percentage of the sauerkraut sales.

You seem to be a girth kinda guy, but I’m all about length, and for that reason, I’m out.
It’s called a double dog. It’s 100% a thing. I used to order them from Gene and Jude’s all the time.
Can confirm these exist and are awesome, but it’s like you are trying to DP the bun….
Two dogs one bun
Bromance of the century
Haha. I wasn’t sure if it was a joke or not. What’s the worst that can happen. I look like a fool on the internet?
Specifically the double dog at G&G, it gets sloppy with the fries on top but in the best possible way!
I always leave a couple on top. Only way to eat a Gene and Judes double dog.
why do you say that like it's bad?
[IKEA was selling them even](https://i.imgur.com/Hl42Bdo.jpeg)
Fun fact: The founder of Ikea, Ingvar Kamprad, was extremely frugal AND an avid fascist.
Local place has a secret menu... They call it the "slut." 2 dogs 1 bun
Six with everything and a large grape
Yup, I used to get them from Demon Dogs.
My local spot has double dog on the menu. Always has.
It’s a frotdog
Came here to say this. Most hotdog shops offer it on their menu as well. Not some hidden item even.
Yeah i was about to say double dogs are everywhere in the Chicago area
Served with mustard, chopped onions and fries. Yes, fries on the dogs. Awesome!
GENE AND JUDES MENTIONED I really need to get back out to Chicago soon, I miss the food so bad.
I miss chicago. Sadge.
Ah, thank you, yes, an American icon, Gene's and Jude's is the OG dog
We go long, not wide. This is a society.
But then your wiener pokes out of the bun on both sides and that sucks
Get a foot long bun
Thats just a longer hot dog. There is no change in the bread/meat ratio. No more generous condiment ratio. We wish to evolve not engorge.
>This is a society. BOTTOM TEXT
I'm not a dog lover, but respect the man's concerns. The concern is not simply more food, it's better ratios for meat and condiments. It's possible that cleanliness is also a concern when talking about the platform for condiments.
Cause I want a second dog with different toppings
Or just give me a longer dog/two dogs cause that's 2x more bites
Man really doesn't know about the triple sha-boing boing special?
Sounds like a pyramid scheme.
It is when you see the videos
Wouldn’t you just do a taller bun, and stack them wieners taco style. A taller bun is also going to go a long way holding topping.
Seems like that would tip over easier. Side by side would be much more stable for heavier toppings.
I'm thinking it would be like a Subway sandwich where you close the bun over the dog and condiments.
Side by side dogs would act like rolling levers and put stress on the middle bottom span. I was thinking more of a "big mac" design with a thin bread flap in the middle to keep them in place and maintain bread:meat ratio.
How are you gonna bite that though
Come to Chicago dude most of our hot dog stands will do a double dog
I briefly worked at a gas station that sold roller dogs. Used to sell half decent 8oz dogs then they got scrimped down to 4ozs so if I was feeling a dog, I'd take two and make it a double decker in the bun.
What a time to be alive
The future is now
I’d be happy if the hotdog buns available were sliced in the middle correctly . Additionally … why do hotdogs come in packs of 10 and rolls in packs of 8 ?
Plenty of 8 pack dogs out there.
Would eat
Wouldn't even have to double dog dare me to eat one of those!
As long as you didn't create a slight breach in etiquette and jump to the triple-dog-dare, we're cool.
I’ve been eating double dogs since the 80s in NY. A legendary place call Walter’s spilts and grills their little dogs so they are kind of flat, then you can stack them on a regular bun. Two doubles was my usual order.
Came here to find the Walter's comments
Two dogs at the same time, man.
That's what she said.
Why not 5 minute abs?
You can, it’s called the “double barrel”
Double glizzies for life
Yes please!
Madness
👐
Been getting doubles from Jimmy Buff's for years
Do it! Take it to shark tank
Who doesn’t love a good ol double barrel sha boing boing.
Heids of NY
That bun is going to fall apart.
DP Dog!
Yo lemme get a double dog!
Double barrel dongers smack
I would live a double-wide bun. I maintain a rather low carb diet. I don’t want to forgo eating the bun, but I don’t want to eat two buns. I would buy this, provided the actual product was good.
[double barrel glizzy](https://images.app.goo.gl/BYsALXyaJMqE7kB28)
Weiners are touching!
“Hot docks, get your hot docks here!”
I'll take a double barreled
Genes and Jude’s always has had a double dog..
Double dogs have been on the menu at Caspers for decades.
I’m not sure why I’m being recommended this sub considering I hate hot dogs 😢
Now that you commented you are here forever! Muhahahahaha
Foot long makes more sense
I’m doing this. I think I can just cut the space out of a small sub bun. Maybe even put that piece back on top, after the toppings, so I can double fist it.
Google Hamdog, the Aussies have something figured out
Ha! Not what I was expecting... If you bought deli bologna and had them slice it like 1/2" thick, and grill it, that would be like a hotdog in burger form. I ought to try it one day.
OP has never heard of Gene and Jude's, someone let him know this has existed since 1946

I never said doubles Randy

Nah
I got a double at pink’s years ago. It was called the Huell Howeser.
Well, in Brazil we have 3, even 4 in hotdogs.
This needs a patent award. Seriously, if you look up the "Readily Portable Burrito"* patent, why not this as well? * Literally, an awarded patent for a burrito built with a popsicle stick... so that you can eat it more easily on the go.
As a young youth in a tiny rural town our gas station had roller dogs and I would always double up and feel super sneaky
Use 2 Split top rolls stuck together.
It already feels a little wrong to take 1 at a time, putting 2 in my mouth at once may break me
Could we make this vertical so they stack on top of each other? Or perhaps give it thicker girth for maximum meat-to-mouth coverage. .
What a time to be alive
No, but I’ll be in for $3.16 , two Costco hotdogs. And 51% stake, for A $1 (in my credit card)
i jizzed
Frotfurter...
I want a triple hotdog with cheese!
I love this idea
The Revoluution has bigbun! ;-)
Frot Dog
"Does that look right to you?". Hot dog vendor from Blades of Glory
Uhh you can? Ask for a sonoran double dog and let your brain melt..
2 dogs split down the center grilled and stacked on one standard bun. Better protein to carb ratio, layer condiments between the two dogs for more surface area. Still fits the standard size mouth. 🤪
The bun needs a divider to stop the dogs from popping out when pressed together, or it needs to be deep enough to stack them.
A local joint in town has had a double dog on thier menu since I was child. I ordered it all the time. One of my all time favorites
https://youtu.be/de63_wBWZVM?si=xzgwz8nEOJorjH6q
I thought Blades of Glory addressed this already. “Let me show you something….Does that look right to you?”
We have this in Sweden already. We use tunnbröd, a soft rectangular flatbread that is somewhere between a tortilla and a pita in thickness. And get this, mashed potatoes and/or shrimp salad are frequently used as toppings. 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪❤️‼️
Where do I buy extra wide buns? That sounds like a business idea Kramer and Newman would have
it’s called a double barrel dog.
Two dogs fit in one bun now. Welcome to the future, old man.
We have a decent hot dog chain in Utah, J Dawgs that’ll do a “double barrel” dog. Good stuff.
Star citizen ahead of the curve with this one
Yeah but what about a double wide frankfurter instead of two single frankfurters?
I never said doubles Randy
I saw a guy do this at Costco years ago. He order two HDs but proceeded to place both wieners in one bun. From time to time I think about that guy, I don’t know if he was a glutton or a genius.
I did this the other night because I had one bun left 😅
THE FROTT-DOG(tm)
Laughs in brazilian hotdogs.
THE WORLD IS NOT READY!
Where I live this exists in every hot dog shop. Its called a double dog. They just use a normal bun.
Bun breaks. Simple answer
They can’t even regulate bun/wiener companies to make the numbers in the packs match, you wanna roll this out?
This is why our government should increase funding for basic science research. I can't believe it is 2024 and we still don't have double dog technology!
I must say i personally prefer it “over-under” as opposed to “side to side” 🙂 And I like hotdogs
More like Frankensteinfurter
This s is amazing. I need this
Love how when I liked the post I was 666 and it turns red. Only if I believed in that such things
Did we need more meat to bread ratio? I thought it was perfect
No
The only way my ex would eat hot dogs...
If a hot dog were a double dog, would it look like this: (oo) Or this: (8)
With the wider bun it should be (oo). With (8), I’d worry about condiments falling off.
Make mine a double double
3 foot longs fit in a standard sub roll. Has plenty of room for toppings and won’t get soggy fast.
Well now I have an idea for a bun to accommodate this
Won’t happen. Dog to bun ratio wayyyyy off.
Prob the wieners will stack on top of each other rather side by side.
Called a Slut Dog at Yesterdog
They call it 'The Kardashian'.
I do this all the time to save a bit on carbs. I call it "the slut"
Frotdog
It's called a foot long hotdog ya donut
We aren't ready. Look how much social media has negatively affected society, and you think we idiots are going to be able to handle something like this? I wish, I really do, but it's just too dangerous.
Hate to be that guy, but IKEA serves double hot dogs like this 😅😅
So if there is no bun is it a raw dog?
That’s doubles Ricky.
If I want a double dog I have to make it myself or play Star Citizen.
The arrows are really helping me here.
Damn your wiener sucks so much as an european.
Too much hotdog to bread.
The double glizzy is insane.
They do this at quite a few spots in Chicago.
I make it a habit of slamming the double dog combo into sausage buns specifically for this purpose.
My dad said I was weird for this but I have found my people 🥹
Just bake your own buns
We have made advancements past this, the okidog is the latest version, it's HotDog 8.0
It called a footlong
This will change reality as we know it. Do it!!
Just get a bigger wiener
I recently tried making this, (basically just two dogs in a bun) and the meat to bun ration wasn't right in my opinion.
Bring It ON!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
I started buying this expensive brand of "organic" hot dogs and they're small, so I do 2 inside a regular pepperidge farms bun. They fit fine.
There’s a place by me that has this on the menu. I’ve eaten it. It’s great.
If you slice em long ways then stack them you can do it pretty easily. You’ll see it commonly in Brazil
In Michigan restaurants actually call these “Slut Dogs”
gas station in Estonia has double barrel hotdogs, quite common.
Fully agree. Make it hap'n, Cap'n.
Stop the presses!
We call it the Devils Three Way.
Use a normal side split bun, not a New England style top split, and cook your wieners on a flattop butterflied, then stack ‘em up!
Larry Hotdogs would be turning in his grave at this. Slowly, under a heat lamp.
Nah man you just get some big Italian long rolls and you can put 2-3 on there. We already live in the future we were promised.
2 weiners are definitely better!
[this is why](https://youtu.be/Dv26ynEYb3s)
The bite on this would be so good!
The world needs a double barrel Sha Boing Boing right about now
Double. Barrel my cholesterol
The DP Dog!
I’ve seen movies like this
One does not simply, DP a hotdog bun…
The double hot dog is way to powerful world isn’t ready
Place I used to work when I was a kid would slice the 1/4 lbs dog slightly left of center but not all the way through then flip and do it again, spread open and serve on a hamburger bun. Many ordered an extra dog, including myself. It was glorious.
