He honestly got out at the right time, I stopped listing a year before Art left because he was insufferable, and Howard was already turning PC.
Still, I feel like could have had his own radio gig.
Man he was so clearly on coke during this summer 2009. He dropped weight super fast and always told them you can tell he’s on coke when he gets thin. Then he said it was all the jet skiing but of course later that year he confessed unrelated that he had only used those jet skiis twice
Yeah, losing weight from mild tension on your core when sitting in a jet ski. Anyone not full of shit themselves would hear him say that and just go “what?” 😂😂

The hush that fell over the crowd as he nodded proudly during his cigarette gag.
Man. Palpable cringe.
Yea, wtf does that even mean? He's from Jersey so he has an inferiority complex? Can't make a left turn or pump gas? Also, I can't stand Buck but the chin comeback was pretty good.
I just remember Howard was too afraid to tell Artie how unfunny/embarrassing he was on this show, so he had the callers do it for him. Tale as old as time.
This was so bad, and the entire staff was kissing his ass telling him how great it was. I felt bad for Joe buck and for Artie because Artie was thinking it was such a legendary appearance.
To confirm my belief I actually watched a few minutes of “It’s the Whiskey Talking” and it was not good. Definitely a feeding frenzy of Stern fans all liquored up just happy to be in the orbit of a main player from the show.
He was not as horrible as the reaction at the time.
He was irreverently funny a few times, obnoxiously unfunny a few other times.
Joe’s show wasn’t gonna make it regardless.
What strikes me is how brilliant the other two guests” careers went and it was the polar opposite for Artie.
Iconic show nevertheless
Poor Artie, his was one of hose times whene he started out alright but then he started feeling his oats and went WAY over the top with his bullshit not taking into account that this wasn't Tough Crowd with Colin QUinn it was a sports show with Joe Buck.
This was embarrassing all the way through and he kept saying he killed the crowd which seemed mixed at best. I love Artie, but he was only ever good on the Stern show.
lol no. This clip is an IQ test for Howard's audience. Anyone who thinks this is funny won't understand why its atrocious. It's not worth arguing about.
I believe it was Bob Costas he was essentially replacing, and just kinda took a stab at this kinda late nightish, talk show blending sports and media, and even he didnt know what he was entering
Romo rhymes with homo! Jessica Simpson is fat! Come on, this is killer shit!
Right? Cutting edge fifth grader on live tv. Dudes a fucking loser.
Hack comic, shit movies-but he was great on the show up until he thought of himself as a kahmadee god.
I agree. He had a window to make himself a success, chose heroin instead.
He honestly got out at the right time, I stopped listing a year before Art left because he was insufferable, and Howard was already turning PC. Still, I feel like could have had his own radio gig.
The crowd was guffawing.

I straight up always thought that was a joke/bit! I never thought they were actually serious about the skies 😂
They were joking but he was serious. They were clearly sarcastic to Artie and had enough of his stories by then
https://preview.redd.it/io58m3m352ad1.png?width=558&format=png&auto=webp&s=409d48f904bd088993d3b2b7d7658877e1325c2f The hush that fell over the crowd as he nodded proudly during his cigarette gag. Man. Palpable cringe.
The most cringe during that was “I’m from jersey, watch what the fuck you say” wtf? He really thought he was this generations Don Rickles…
Yea, wtf does that even mean? He's from Jersey so he has an inferiority complex? Can't make a left turn or pump gas? Also, I can't stand Buck but the chin comeback was pretty good.

Howard must have cringed everytime Artie dropped his name
Howard literally said "I thought it was... interesting" and Artie said "See?? Howard thought it was funny!"

Yep. Ralph’s opinion is Howard’s opinion.
Joe Buck was so out of his depth hosting a talk show in 09. He makes the current day Stern show look like the pinnacle of media.
Don't kid yourself. Howard's current show could not possibly be worse. Even referring to it as a show is laughable.
“It’s just refreshing to see white on white crime.”
Not even funny
This was so bad, and the entire staff was kissing his ass telling him how great it was. I felt bad for Joe buck and for Artie because Artie was thinking it was such a legendary appearance.
what’s most offensive is that a professional comedian didn’t manage to be funny once during the entire interview
I mean, you could make the argument his standup act was rarely funny too. So, par for the course?
He is a complete hack at standup, his made up stories (Ash Wednesday) were very well constructed however.
To confirm my belief I actually watched a few minutes of “It’s the Whiskey Talking” and it was not good. Definitely a feeding frenzy of Stern fans all liquored up just happy to be in the orbit of a main player from the show.
Paul Rudd outshined him to such an insane degree
Michael Irvin thought it was hilarious!
NARRATOR: Michael Irvin did *not* think it was hilarious
HE WAS GAFAWWWWWING
Billy Crystal did not however!
For a brief moment, Artie thought he was god. Goo' for him
Artie’s a great storyteller, but a terrible stand up. This was embarrassing.
Beginning of the end.
I ws embarassed for him for this
He was not as horrible as the reaction at the time. He was irreverently funny a few times, obnoxiously unfunny a few other times. Joe’s show wasn’t gonna make it regardless. "Da producer in da green room told me to just go nuts if it was gettin' a little quiet"
That being said, when Artie was talking about Jack Buck doing the CBS primetime promos in the middle of an inning during the NLCS was great
It didn’t go over well on Joe’s show.
Poor Artie, his was one of hose times whene he started out alright but then he started feeling his oats and went WAY over the top with his bullshit not taking into account that this wasn't Tough Crowd with Colin QUinn it was a sports show with Joe Buck.
Artie was putting some dents in his nose right before this interview. Damn he’s gonked out of his mind.
Artie was and is a hack comedian.
What’s not to get? His fourth chin was making a joke, unlike you.
The crazy thing about this is that the other two guest are A list today and mega successful. However Artie thinks they are the hacks
Unpopular opinion but this appearance was cringe and not really that funny, one of the rare times I agreed with Ralph
>unpopular opinion... From the moment it aired in 2009 until now in 2024, half say it sucks and half like it.
This was embarrassing all the way through and he kept saying he killed the crowd which seemed mixed at best. I love Artie, but he was only ever good on the Stern show.
It wasn’t funny at all but what were the producers/ joe buck expecting to have happen? Did they not listen to the stern show?
I know we love Artie but he’s an asshole. Hates gays, belittles women. At least back then he did.
Hates the part of himself that is gay. All of him, probably
Offensive must equal unfunny.
lol no. This clip is an IQ test for Howard's audience. Anyone who thinks this is funny won't understand why its atrocious. It's not worth arguing about.
Artie was a great side kick but couldn’t carry it alone
Sudeikis quietly gets the funniest joke off in this whole thing — “At least I still have a shot.”
I have the full 5+ hour Joe Buck Saga with the aftermath if anybodys interested
It was funny. I’m sure not what Joe Buck was going for but nonetheless funny.
I believe it was Bob Costas he was essentially replacing, and just kinda took a stab at this kinda late nightish, talk show blending sports and media, and even he didnt know what he was entering
The Robert Blake joke is pretty incredible but everything else is so bad
Once you make the "Everybody's talking about it" defense then you're done.
